    I just want to apologize for the poor playing in this video, especially on Change It, I gotta work on my SRV, not that Change It is an easy song to improv, but still… Don’t think I don’t give a crap about this channel and you all ❤ There is a heat wave in Istanbul, I was literally chilling in the pool, got an urgent call and had to meet a client so I had to shoot and record everything in like 30-35min or so.

    Very useful BD-2, SD-1 review! Long ago with band I enjoyed my SD-1 but was sadly stolen with all my gear and never replaced. Now in old age just at home recording. So many great drive pedals and reviews of them these days it's crazy, so I think about Boss cause I know them. For example I just back ordered an IR-2. Always been wondering about a BD-2 and this A/B comparison was really helpful. I went over it a few times and will again. Probably BD-2 just cause I never had it yet, but cheap enough could be both. BTW awesome Gilmour!

    I prefer the SD1 for my own music, and the BD2 for Gilmouresque sounds.
    They both definitely have their place.

  • @silviolutti1522
    @silviolutti1522 Год назад +2

    The Boss sd-1 (and all the Tubescreamer family) doesn't sound very good on the full clean channel of the amp, because it cuts almost all the bass at one point and makes the guitar sound thin. Works well on a crunch channel or a clean channel bordering on breakup. (David Gilmour used it in the 80s but on a Mesa Boogie amp on the lead channel, adding the two sounds, or he used it adding the SD-1 to an HM-2 boss. The BD-2 boss doesn't cut the bass. You should try a BD-2waza Craft boss (Made in Japan, Silver Screen): in Custom mode Mids/bass are added and I'm convinced it would become your favorite overdrive.

    I find the SD-1 works better on mid scooped amps like fender deluxe reverb twin reverb.

  • @Sea_Dove
    @Sea_Dove Год назад +2

    And one more question… what about waza craft bd2?

    • @mustyguitar
      @mustyguitar  Год назад +1

      You're right, I should've mentioned Waza line too. Honestly, of course waza version of BD-2 would be better than the stock version. I myself never tried it to be honest but I hear it's balanced on top end. To compare with SD-1, still the same story, mid boosted vs. flat eq.

      Hakan'ım, eğer acelen yoksa 1-2 hafta bekle, tam senin için bir video gelecek. Neyi nasıl bağlayacan edecen hepsini açıklayacam. Bu sıra çok yoğunum işten, çok uzun metrajlı videoya götüm yemedi yapmaya bitiremem diye, ama inan tam senlik bir video gelecek, sıfırdan pro olmanı sağlayacak.
      Kısa cevap, eğer tek pedal alacaksan 9v batarya ile çalışır. Şu kare gibi büyük piller var ya, onlar akar, bayağı da uzun gider pilin ben daha hiç bitiremedim mesela, ama kullanmadığın zaman GİRİŞ JACK'INI ÇIKART, yoksa pil boşa biter.
      sana tavsiyem 2 tane uzun jack'ın olsun, birisi gitardan pedala, diğeri pedaldan amfine. araya alacağın yeni pedallar olursa minik 15 santimlik jack alırsın.
      Öte yandan ben yavaş yavaş pedalboard dizecem dersen de izole güç kaynağına ihtiyacın olacak. fuel tank falan işini görür ama şimdilik pedal pille çalışıyorsa onla başlayabilirsin.

    I personally find the BD-2 kinda cuts bass, even at 12:00 I always notice there's less bass, turning it down just reduces the treble

    I use the sd1 for most things still. It’s such a versatile pedal. Wanted a bd2 for ages and in the end was disappointed and went back to using my sd1. Favourite use is blended with hm1 with chorus and delay for late 80s Gilmour tones

    At the moment got a RAT that can be a bit of an overdrive into distortion and slight fuzz even.

    i think im more of a bd2 guy like you. i know your using a one watt amp but the blues driver just seems closer to the power boost. i kinda like the sd-1 and idk why but it kept giving me delicate sound of thunder vibes, which those tones are ok, but i much perfer pulse tones or 2006-2007 type tones that could be covered by the td-y. but idk that much. i kinda want to know what your thoughts are.

    • @mustyguitar
      @mustyguitar  Год назад

      Delicate sound of thunder had a line booster very much close to Pete Cornish ST-2 but a little balanced eq-wise. Actually it's really close to tube driver. I think PastFx TD-Y is what you need.
