Dope. 2025 quest to DJ with AL Session view only, I’m using a MIDI fighter now, which has more fun buttons 🧮 cool colors 🌈 and well generalized 🥛 . I contemplated the Zone K2, but seeing how this goes in 2025 will be fun. Thanks for the deep dive. Keep it poppin’.
Keep in mind Rekordbox will make you subscribe to their premium subscription service in order to unlock non-Pioneer hardware for custom Midimapping if you aren't already. That said, I have the original Z1 and I've mapped it to Rekordbox in the past which was nice because I was able to map play buttons to the controller itself, which it typically lacks.
As far as I'm concerned the lack of dedicated load track/play/pause buttons and an encoder wheel for track browsing makes this thing useless as a standalone controller. It's incredibly obvious that this was designed to force you to buy the extra modules in order to extract more profits, which completely defeats the purpose of it's portability factor anyways. At least in Rekordbox you can custom map it so that there's a bit more functionality in the one little controller but as it stands it's a toy.
Not familiar with the Traktor Z1, but can talk about the Xone K2, usually is if you like to control stems and effects, and play with sound design, allow you to access more parameters , very useful to also use it as midi controller for Ableton, or bigwig for Hybrid sets, also very compact, you can have one of those and a laptop and play entire sets. And for some generes and styles you don't need jogwheels , just have your grid on point , and good to go.
Going off the fact that I actually bought the original Z1 back when I was a broke teenager just starting out, I'm going to guess broke teenagers that are just starting out.
The OG Z1 is better than this new model, especially since they have completely dropped support for Traktor 2 for iPad. I have been using that combo for ten years! I gotta pack lite when I travel to DJ and the OG unit works great on iPad but NI have stated on their website that it no longer supports the app. Stems are not as important to me vs portability. Also NI does not have a cloud save, track meta data, playlists, track prep across devices like Alpha Theta's Rekordbox. Apparently the future isnt now over NI.😢
The controllers are coming the controllers are coming…again. Mid 2000’s was an epic wave of purpose built MIDI controllers, I fell like a new wave is coming in hot 🥵 especially when “club standard” is $19 million USD. Stay curious.

Funny story: It looks like the left gain is also not calibrated like mine. It's also not aligned at the zero position with the value of 50.
Can you do a video on using both together?
so what is the best controller for today's traktor ?🙏
Kontrol S4 MK3
Yeah s4 is a beast, way way better than a grv6 for the same price. It’s comparable to a flx10
I'm thinking about buying it. But I' use Rekordbox... Wondering if it is good enough

They make you buy the X1 and more
I want to buy a xone k2 and 2x traktor x1
I think it’s better to have a xone over this because you can have 4 decks way easier than thi
I use xone k2 for hybrid sets , it's awesome, I would like to try NI one, and check if can achieve the same use cases.
Would you connect the two X1 on separate channels on the Xone mixer or would you use an interface such A6 or A10?!
@@Brightnessize still need to find out, sorry
I know a guy who plays like this tho
The crossfader is flimsy and loose. Mine came with a faulty cross fader.

@@davidRios622That's what I was thinking too Ableton live performances more than actual DJing
