U.S. Marine Corps CH-53E Super Stallion Sea Stallion

- The CH-53 Sea Stallion is the most common name for the Sikorsky S-65 family of heavy-lift transport helicopters. Originally developed for use by the United States Marine Corps, it is in service with Germany, Iran, Israel, and Mexico. The United States Air Force operated the HH-53 "Super Jolly Green Giant" during the late- and post-Vietnam-War era, updating most of them as the MH-53 Pave Low.
The dimensionally-similar CH-53E Super Stallion is a heavier-lifting, improved version designated S-80E by Sikorsky. Its third engine makes it more powerful than the Sea Stallion, which it has replaced in the heavy-lift mission.

These things are absolutely solid I once flew from Bahrain straight across the arabian gulf in one these to get back to my unit. I've never felt safer or had such a comfortable ride. Im british and would like to say thank you America for allowing my country use of your awesome shit

Love watching any video of a CH-53, My Dad is a marine and served from 79-85, he was a crew chief and 1st mechanic on that and the Huey.
I was in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and got to watch a Navy Super Stallion land and we helped load 14 patients on board. Blackhawks and Hueys had been making daily trips but this beast gathered quite a crowd to watch it land and take off. Very impressive...makes quite a dust storm on landing!
I love watching this video so much, it brings back good memories of when I worked in Prod Flt Ops @ Sikorsky Aircraft on the 53E's as a Service Mech during the early 1990s... by far the most amazing capable helicopter of them all, especially the CH-53E which must have been the assault pilots dream come true :) :) :)

the stallion is designed for the transportation of equipment, supplies and personnel during the amphibious Marines’ heavy lift. helicopter since the days of 70s almost 40 years in naval service.

Why do the soldiers take the helicopter cables with a ground hook?
Komatsu Ni As the Helicopter travels through the air, even the rotor blades traveling through the air create static electricity, so the Helicopter becomes charged. If someone standing on the ground touches the helicopter the static charge will go through that person, so they use a grounding rod to discharge the Helicopter before they grab on to the cable.

Local museum Cosford UK, has i think one of only 3 pave lows in museum. Fascinated by it. Aircraft like people, i wonder what these aircraft have seen in their lives to languish in retirement. Friend did work there tempted if he can arrange a sit in the front. Have 17k hours fixed wing, never into helis, but would like to fly this.

That is no longer an active order, it is now legally a tradition. In the past the US army did that, the CH53 is a Marine corps aircraft.
