    Katie I would love an updated video on what you’re eating postpartum, workouts you’re doing and supplements that you take. Not sure if you’re taking any new ones!

    Addressing the "rushing your kids" question... i'm in the teen years with my kiddos and I don't regret giving them harder and harder material to conquer. However, having graduated one, I have no interest in graduating my kiddos early. I learned very quickly that academics and emotional development are two very different things. I have no issues with Dual Enrollment and higher academics, but I think they need to be in the home for their maturity to catch up before they move out.

    I agree that expectations are set too low for kids and people in general these days. But we can thank these “scientific developments” for that.

    Wow, your comment about needing structure at 29 minutes really struck a cord with me. I really admire you guys for your family structure about ability to “get it all done” 😉 but I didn’t expect you to express that you guys are so naturally spontaneous and that it was previously hard for you to be consistent at things. I’m also that way but always noticed how in a structured school environment I thrived because I had expectations, deadlines, accountability, etc vs since being a stay at home mom trying to stay home schooling my littles i couldn’t figure out why it’s been so hard to keep to the program.. but it’s literally because I haven’t taken the time to put those programs in place for us and just carry it out like I know I can. Thanks guys, very impactful for me today ❤

      Yes! That part of the podcast really hit home for me too, and gave me some hope, because I have been struggling in this area too.

    There's amazing research on Rough-and-tumble play and its positive effects on the child's confidence and self esteem ESPECIALLY when the father engages in the play as well. Super fascinating stuff!

    Can you talk more about all of your hair falling Katie? I’ve lost hair from stress before too.

    I’d love to see an episode elaborating on that last point… especially when you’re in a season with all littles. ❤
    Great episode!

    I don't think it's possible for kids to "learn way above their developmental level" If they weren't ready they simply wouldn't learn the information. Katie and Elisha are simply laying down a feast of ideas and the kids are picking them up. We're very used to kids doing things at certain ages because of the way the public school system is set up.

    I’m from Ukraine and definitely agree that the USA is slacking when it comes to education. Kids are definitely capable of more. And I like that you have kids memorize poems (you mentioned that in a previous episode). That’s something else that I remember from Ukraine that I didn’t really encounter here…

      @TM-px6gp 6 месяцев назад

      Yes isn't that so cool? I appreciated when they talked about that too! 😃 That's so neat that memorizing is more common in Ukraine. That's so good for kids, I wish I would have done more as a kid! 😅

    We installed unpainted oak door trim throughout the house because we got tired of constantly chipped paint on the door trim due to wrestling and collisions. It's all or nothing on the wrestling. I knew a family with 7 boys. Not a couch or wall or bit of trim was not chipped or trashed. I actually respected that they just let it ride, knowing they could spruce it all up when the children grew up. Otherwise, you will potentially be angry and bitter at having to constantly repair, replace, and repaint things. If you can't handle those options of either a trashed house or constantly restoring things, Katie and Elisha's approach is absolutely the best option.

    I agree expectations for kids could be higher. However, why are you teaching long division/4th grade math to a 6 year old? There is definitely wisdom in knowing “developmental” stages and not just doing what you please with no disregard. I think this posture gives false assurance to your homeschool population that everyone should ditch the curriculum and do whatever they please. Yes, challenge your kids but let them be little too. They’ll always have later to do big math and read older novels. ❤️

    Fyi you can do manual underwriting and avoid having to have credit to get a mortgage. We did the exact same thing as y'all and thought we needed to build our credit to get into more debt 😅😜
    Wish we had known about manual underwriting before.
    We also paid our house off early at 30 and 32 years old and I'll tell you it's the best feeling in the world being completely debt free!!

    I’m a mom of 2 with what I’d say is still a new marriage of 3 years. Question: How did you get inspired or find new ‘material’ when figuring out what worked best for your family? Katie, I know you’ve said your mom was a huge asset to you, but where else do you pull for Biblically-based family scheduling? I come from a very trauma-centered, large family with public school experience, for context.

    There was a book called Better Late Than Early in the 80s and i think it espoused doing lots of reading (maybe a Charlotte Mason approach?) while delaying formal science, history etc till later. Your Moms would likely be familar with it.
