The Bronx has some really amazing neighborhoods with historic homes. It's not all gloom and doom, as some people make it out to be. I used to visit Wave Hill, a beautiful public garden and cultural center: a really lovely place I would encourage everyone to visit.
I live in a gloom and doom neighborhood and what I hate most is that the older apartment buildings are sooooooooooo nice. If you look at the tops of them you can see intricate mason work, the layouts are nice, big rooms, etc. It’s just been allowed to go to hell. Sure the residents are poor but the landlords are absolute garbage. They never fix anything, won’t hire enough staff to keep the buildings clean, and when they do get something fixed it’s the cheapest solution even if it doesn’t match the building. I wonder what would happen if more apartments were condos in this area.
A lot of these areas look very familiar to me. I've no doubt worked at most of them. I was the "Riverdale girl" in my agency because I worked there so much!😶🌫️
As a retired EMT from the Bronx, there was one unit that came out of Jacoby that covered that area that area of the Bronx or Riverdale for NYC 911. It was known that unit might do one call a night and sometimes none.. The 911 calls would be a sick call, no trauma no gunshots. You only got to work on the unit if you were A senior, EMT and extremely respectable as the residents in that area were very wealthy and politically respected and nice.

Those two cars in the beginning belonged to the Kennedy family when they lived in Spuyten Duyvil/Riverdale.
A lot of people feel that the South Bronx is the Bronx and don’t realize how diverse it’s always been.

OMG! you just took me back to where l was born and lived until l got married. l lived in Riverdale, New York on Independence Ave. l would take the express bus to Manhattan, for work. My apartment faced the George Washington Bridge and l used to go down the hill on my bike to shop at the corner of West 231 street where you had most of the stores. All of my family is now living in other states, but we have fond memories. Sunday's we would drive over to Yonkers, to the movies. Thank you for the memories.

The two cars at the beginning do feel like they've been there for 50 years. I wonder if this is an art project. They weren't there at any point between 2007 and 2019 on google maps. Villa Charlotte Brontë co-op is so cool, but it must be PITA to live there with main character syndrome trespassers who try and take selfies there all the time. At least you didn't slip under the no trespassing signs like a lot of influencers do. The people there are middle aged to 95. People should leave them alone. Still jarring to see the horrifying monstrosity la Rive that was built next to it in the 80s.

I used to work in Riverdale all the time. I've been to Fieldston Road, SkyView, Marble Hill, worked on Kappock, Johnson avenue, Henry Hudson Pkwy and this place. I've been sent nearly all over Riverdale... including the Country Club near the Hudson River!🤫

I grew and live there and the neighborhood is beautiful but it’s changing fast. The city plans on putting a migrant shelter and a lot of those houses and coop apts are for sale. Give it a few years and it will not look the same unfortunately.
Where's the protests?? The shelter at Van Cortlandt hotel was closed in middle of the night.Keep your eye on Manhattan College that sold the building they are in serious financial trouble.

Even a "Fixer Upper" can be a million or more. The homes will be sold beacuse the Real Estate Taxes are cheaper than Westchester a mile away and way less than Long Island! The restaurants there are good and you do have a suburban lifestyle

Look up the value of these homes on Zillow or one of the other real estate websites. You would be shocked at the prices.
Most slept on spot in the city. Low key most quiet. Summer night walks are different over there.

some of the homes may get going under repair and some streets are private. The neighborhood association may be in charge of a road and not The City of New York it depends especially in a "Landmark District"

I can say for the fact that in the Bronx that is the last place left where you will find such a dense population of white people, maybe Pelham gardens
Coop City in the Bronx used to have as much white people, as there, I it was very culturally diverse European neighborhood . Now Coop City still look very nice & is probably one of the most prettiest neighborhoods in the world. unfortunately its not as culturally diverse anymore as most of the European residents have passed away. That said Coop City is still one of the most gorgeous neighborhoods in the world. The charm of the cultural diversity will be missed 😕
My family lived there and I can actually say it's the most expensive place and a little overrated the shopping and the restaurants are not of good quality at all
