I'm so addicted to totk that I feel like I wanna go back to botw after. But I feel like it's gonna be so hard going back to it. It'll feel like it's missing so much stuff.
8:36 your theory is correct. I do traverse the world when following a waypoint a lot, but the problem is horses are stable-dependent, and it just feels like a slog to traverse the open world when following a distant waypoint. Link moves so slowly, horse stables don’t have travel gates unless you place them yourself, stamina isn’t really even meant for running long distances no matter how much you upgrade it, etc. As some dude recently uploaded, you can make a super easy device with 2 fans and a steering wheel, and it becomes an air bike that doesn’t consume much battery. It’s a great way to traverse, but even then, it feels easier to glide.
Side note: I'm aware that the game is a sequel and after going throught the story more, there are obvious mentions of the Calamity. I only meant to highlight that this game stands on its own 2 feet really well, not necessarily feeling like a sequel to the previous entry Also, I know about the jump button change being possible :)
Loved this video!! Currently playing TOTK and honestly just enjoying how much there is to explore. There’s elements I miss from BOTW but loving all the new things so far.
This is a problem carried over from breath of the wild. at a certain point nothing you find means anything... Accept t o t k added a bunch of armor which is fun to find and upgrade.
3:26 The initial teaser back at E3 2019 labeled the game as "The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" so it is a sequel, just one made in a way that allows it to stand on its own. Which is a testament to great game design.
I guarantee they are already working on it. I just hope it is closer to the current technology... The switch Zelda games are awesome and beautiful. But could you imagine if they were on ps5 hardware?
THANKYOU! You mentioned the one big problem I have with Tears of the Kingdom. And that is that you can fly over EVERYTHING and miss out on the finer details down below. Granted, this is somewhat remedied if you're traversing the skies and the depths themselves, but still, I now have less of an incentive to travel on the ground and imagine what lies around every corner. I think I've missed quite a few secret caves.
I have the same problem so when I am exploring the regular overworld. I tried to make a vehicle with big wheels because it's slower and you can take in the sites.... But it's still faster than walking and less cumbersome than a horse.... Plus you cand add weapons if you like.
So while flying makes getting around easy they did think about forcing people to walk and they did address it but having a fair amount of the shrines being in caves and the entire depths thing.
You did a great job explaining what the two games felt like to you: they had two different ideas of the same game and just released them both. I’ve never heard anyone say that.
Regarding the towers being too powerful for exploring the surface, I think it's because they reused the same world as BOTW. As someone who made a point of visiting every point of interest on the map I could find in BOTW, I had a lot less interest in exploring the surface outside of visiting major landmarks. I think in the TOTK, The Depths poses a challenge that is equal to Link's exploration abilities (until you figure out how to make a flying machine that doesn't disappear at least!), while they hedged their bets with new/returning players on the surface by making it way easier to get around. It does seem like there's a ton to find that is new, but the Depths were just more interesting to me as a BOTW player.
i'm actually for my first playthrough am limiting the fast traveling that I do. the only fast travel I do is between sky, normal, or the depths map when needed but not accross.
Good vid. It’s age has been showing as the processor in the switch was not brand new in 2017 when it came out. I feel like it hasn’t been aging worse for the past 2-3 years. I still love the switch overall and love the Oled even more due to some quality of life improvements but it is time for a new system. This has gotten really ridiculous that Nintendo hasn’t announced anything at this point. I hated BOTW as I felt bored most of the 60-70 hours of my playthrough but so far I am enjoying TOTK better due to the story being improved and more refined gameplay.
You are right about the towers. I thought about that the other day. I plan on going back through the map extensively so its not that big if a deal for me
I totally agree about the controls. I have over 500 hours in breath of the wild, and I thought I had it mastered but in this game I'm 160 hours in and I am still constantly pressing wrong buttons. there is just too many inputs and too much going on... And switching abilities from up on the D-pad to the L button makes it way worse.
“I’ll just be heading somewhere, then suddenly I’ll see a huge structure in the distance and every bone in my body is telling me that’s where I have to go.” Congratulations, you discovered Nintendo’s hidden gameplay loop lol. It was actually a whole process getting this exact mentality exactly right. They weren’t satisfied with how heat maps from play testers were presenting initially, so they iterated on the map until it finally clicked. Game Maker’s Toolkit just did a video a couple weeks ago on a talk the devs gave in Japanese on the subject. Also, don’t sleep on opals. Attach them to arrows or a weapon any time you have to fight fire enemies, or to a Zora sword to have the attack boost active as long as you’re using the weapon.
To late I already glide everywhere and now that I have the entire map and at least on teleport point near every goal or shrine or whatever I stopped exploring and since I absolutly hate going back to areas I already was I'm pretty much done with exploring (with the exception of some major story locatiine/ in this game despite knowing I'm miswing out on most of the game.
I've been playing the same way just messing around and ever five minutes I go "woah"..BtwYou can switch the jump and run button in the options I'm the same way
I've never been into Zelda, but found an open box of this game for like $50, so I decided to give it a shot. So far, I'm having fun with it. Not as much fun as if I were playing a JRPG like Trails from Zero or Xenoblade, BUT still pretty fun. I don't think I've played it long enough to give it a score yet, but I can safely say that its probably gonna be a pretty high score. Lots to do in this game. Definitely getting my monies worth.
Ive played a decent amount of zelda games, totk easily tops them imo. Many of the games in the series are pretty unique in their style of gameplay so its hard sometimes to rank. Like majoras mask and botw are generally top 5 but I play them for different reasons so its hard to say whats the best. I feel like totk takes a lot of elements of everything while maintaining botw's type of adventure, then adding so much more variety to the world on top of good story telling which i felt was lacking in botw.
In my opinion its definitely on the top 5 of best games I've ever played but classic zelda wise, eh, its one of the best games ever but I dont think its the best zelda game ever, but thats just my opinion and hope this game wins GOTY
IMO it seems like totk is being a bit more preachy this time around with japanese peganism. From the poe master to the use of lord, gods, and prophecy, etc. unlike past iterations, this one seems to just flat out say your narrow minded if you don’t accept it.
I said this to my girl slot of this reminds me of the annunouki ...even the pine cone earrings and statues everywhere . They said the hylians thought the zonai were gods bc they came from the heaven and had advanced tech hmmm
Although Tears of the Kingdom (and Breath of the Wild) carries the Zelda nametag it really is a thing of its own. In my humble opinion Nintendo should really reflect on how it wants to proceed with Zelda. Because the open world games are hugely successful, but can be redesigned with an entirely new franchise and no-one would notice. I'm afraid that the classic action adventures in linear style wil be stopped and that's really regretful because these are excellent games.
@@CrispyMilkk Well. That's not true. My mother plays candy crush and words with friends I'd call her a boomer gamer lol But I've probably been playing video games longer than OP has been alive, so the weight of my experience cancels his naive idiocy out So the video poster is officially a gamer, congratulations
@@BlueRidgeBubble thanks for telling me your old, but my point still stands, but you are right, it also depends on how much you play a game, but like I said, as long as you play a game, your a gamer, I don’t care what the Reddit, twitter, and RUclips rules say, if you like a game and play it, you are gamer, or at least in your heart if nobody agrees with you
It feels like Botw was the tech demo for TOTK. I love it
I'm so addicted to totk that I feel like I wanna go back to botw after. But I feel like it's gonna be so hard going back to it. It'll feel like it's missing so much stuff.
My biggest mistake was learning the duplication trick. Wish i never knew it and now am like a crack head trying to stay sober.

I totally agree with your point about the towers. Had the same thought myself - my urge is to use them to skip over a ton of the map by gliding
Loved this video!! Currently playing TOTK and honestly just enjoying how much there is to explore. There’s elements I miss from BOTW but loving all the new things so far.
I’m glad SOMEONE talked about the opal problem. I thought I was the only one getting pissed off over getting 1 opal after almost die ing
This is a problem carried over from breath of the wild. at a certain point nothing you find means anything... Accept t o t k added a bunch of armor which is fun to find and upgrade.
Opal makes water arrows. Its similar to the ruby topal and sapphire effects in the vain that its the strongest form of elemental arrows

@@SoullusYT Yeah no prob!
You can switch the jump button within the TOTK settings.

I guarantee they are already working on it. I just hope it is closer to the current technology... The switch Zelda games are awesome and beautiful. But could you imagine if they were on ps5 hardware?
It was DEFINITELY marketed as a sequel. From announcement until not too long ago it was officially known as "Breath of the Wild 2"

you can change the run button to x and jump to b in the settings
1:59 you can use ultra hand on the block robots and pull out the core
You can change the Juno button too B and run to X the game feels more natural that way anyways
The first trailer for this game back years ago was advertised as the sequel to breath of the wild. So it's been a sequel right from the get go.
I don't think that that was in question.

10/10, but like, more of a 8/10 for completionists. The grind at the end of you want to complete this game is hell. Everything else is beautiful.
