I live less than 5 mins away from here and would just like to add that this house recently went under a major renovation. So it didn't look exactly like this when Paul lived there. It is much much more extravagant now compared to when he lived in it. Solid video!
Thanks Dan

Dan is right. It was much less impressive. I heard a contractor bought it which explains the amazing redesign
I built the new cabinets for the renovation.

People say Castellano was more a business man but he was totally ruthless vis-a-vis getting rid of people including two of his daughters boyfriends, great work here again mate you are the top of the tree at these videos, its amazing driving up to the house imagine the energy around it with his captains going there amazing history, Neil Dellacroce, Gotti, Gravano. Frankie Nose and Frankie DeCicco and so many more. Castellano was a massive guy too.
If the streets of Staten Island and Big Paul's house could talk...... All that money and greed only to be slaughtered like a pig in front of Sparks steakhouse. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy watching your videos and the mafia history behind them. Keep up the great work.
It rarely ends well for murderers just sayin'.
@ItsStillRealToMe DamnIt plus he was old anyway.
So true you totally nailed it. If Paul was more of a street person he may have been more careful and realized his days were numbered
It's the life
@@scottandigan6276 Hope you feel the same when you're his age, I have a feeling you wont.
I lived a few houses away from the early 70s through the late 80s and watched the Castellano home being built in the late 70s. The home was definitely more subdued than it is today; the original exterior was a yellowish brick colonial with a rounded portico and two columns. The neighborhood kids and I would wave to the security cameras as we went by on our bikes.
That’s gotta be a cool thing to see

Todt (pronounced Toad) means dead in German. Todt Hill is like graveyard. It’s also among the highest points on the eastern seaboard. I could get on my grandparents roof as a little kid & see the lights of NYC.
Yesss the view is absolutely beautiful.
True
I thought Staten Island was Dutch

Great video !!! Born and raised in NYC and I could count the times I've been to Staten Island so this was an eye opener for me.
It was really interesting seeing those famous locations we hear about in the news and movies in real life.
They say the best part of Paul's house was the stunning view of NYC from the back yard. Many people don't realize that todt hill has the highest elevations in the nyc 5boro area..fabulous views of Brooklyn, L.I,NYC skyline
Fs now I wana see it lolol
There aren’t any nice views, I was born & raised in Brooklyn in the late 1960s / it’s now an ARMPIT! Last time I went to visit I couldn’t recognize it, absolutely disgusting, filthy dirty scab!

Fun fact all the homes across from Paul’s house were built off the cliff and down the cliff so his view of verazzano and the bay won’t be blocked.
I am sure the neighbors are used to people visiting the Godfather house. I visited the famous Sopranos house in North Caldwell NJ and there was one neighbor who was eyeing me. If you're ever in the Caldwell area of New Jersey, that would be an interesting spot to show viewers. A little Sopranos tour.
Great idea
Yeah you can hit up his house, the Bada Bing, Holsteins (where the final episode was shot). Or just maybe even recreate the intro.

At 6:37 you’ll see a modest home built by a NYC Cop who was also a Finish Carpenter. He purchased the property and built his house prior to the construction of The Verrazano Bridge and the influx of his connected neighbors. He was always amused that a Cop lived amongst the Mob.
That’s very interesting
I’m gonna be binge watching your videos now. Lol
Love that
Great video Mooney, I enjoyed seeing Paul Castellano’s house , that house just screams “mob boss”

OMG had no idea this house existed and was built by this guy!! wow - lots of huge houses out there. my favorite is the Godfather house. gorgeous.
I’ve never left the south before but these are my dream homes. Not Castenellos but some of the more modest ones, yessss! So beautiful I just can’t describe it so storybook. Thanks so much for all the backstory.
Beautiful homes for sure
Been waiting for a new episode for days!! Thanks
Todt Hill!! Its very beautiful over there my son live over there, There are such beautiful mansions & houses over there. ❤ ❤
Want to see Frank Matthews house... He lived on the same road.
Frank Matthews was the richer than the Mafia at the time!
I’m sure both were probably billionaires yes with a B. I tend to agree with you though.
I visited the godfathers house on Longfellow and I honestly cried on how beautiful that property is. I took pictures and everything. If im not mistaken the property was sold by this elderly couple
You cried over opulence ?
I cried over how rich history this property has! Also just felt connected to it

Bro, I love your videos! Keep them coming!
Also Thomas Gaetano Lucchese and Frank Matthews lived in Todt Hill at the same time as Paul castellano all under world figures 🤔
I agree. They had secret whoppy bonerz partyz.
Frankie cali too
I knew a coworker who's from New York he's in his 70's now told me he knew Paul Castellano and went to his house once and he couldn't believe what he saw he claims he saw thousands of dollars just sitting in the kitchen table lol
Bet you he's right
if that is what he saw on the kitchen table I wouldnt doubt that Big Paul had a secret vault stashed with more stacks of cash in a hidden compartment somewhere in the house that you would never find
You just had the most kickass NRA commercial play before your video. 'Merica.
Just a quick fact- Paul Castellano was liked by the majority of the capos and crews. There were a few capos and crews that were angry and a bit jealous because Carlo passed over Neil Dellacroce for boss so they would move up by association. Paul was a great business minded boss and became Boss of all Bosses on the Commission. When he started sleeping with the maid and flaunting it is when people started becoming angry and disgruntled. Then tapes came up that led to indictments which further cemented his unpopular position.
The tapes had nothing with making people hate Paul the tapes actually were gonna make Paul mad bc John and his crew were on them admitting to selling drugs which was against the rules Paul was a real old school guy most of the commission was it was a known fact if you delt drugs you got killed so John hit him before he hit them
Hey Boy, long time no contact, hope you made it thru your winter ok, we are good here, had a very warm Easter break and another very warm day today, hope you and family are well, you must be looking forward to your summer, thank you for your amazing doco cam views, be safe and well, regards from NZ

There is a new neighborhood with big homes south of totenville. A private road but everything behind it it public.
Great video thank you. It's changed a bit from when I visited it 10 year ago. I took a taxi as I was visiting from U.K and this was the one place I really wanted to see, the cab driver had no idea how to get to it, he had to radio in to his office for directions (this was a Staten Island cab company) he asked me if it was in the "Projects" His words when we found it was "F--k me What a house" Great channel you have
That’s some dedication to see the house I appreciate it
I was just driving in Staten Island coming from my brother's house and as I put the address to make it back to the highway. I passed right by that house. On Benedict Ave. I remember what it looked like from watching this video years ago. I had to wait til I git home to watch your video again to make sure I wasn't bugging. Yep that was it. I drove right pass it a little while ago 👍
Interesting fact, the house they used in the opening scenes of the Sopranos, the house across the street was the last guy killed by the Unabomber in North Caldwell New Jersey.
Have to congraulate you, Mooney Dash Cam, on your dedication & the time you take to do your research on the events & places you take us to!!! I love watching you & learning about what went on in New York & area back then, not to mention all the scenery-buildings & all, etc!!! Have you ever done a video on where Detective Frank Serpico of the NYPD did his beat/work & if he ever arrested any mob guys, etc. Kudos to you & your hard work!!! Cheers!!!

Great video and thanks for sharing this my young brother. This is very cool driving through areas I’ve never been before and I love housing construction and these houses are beautiful
Its Todt Hill as in Toad and its the highest point not only on the island but the highest point on the whole eastern seaboard.
Definitely toad hill to us Staten Islanders lol
Love how you rev your engine and nudge forward at the lights when they are red.
Your content is spot on keep up the good work New York has many stories to tell

Two houses I would never sell…Corleone house because The Godfather is my favorite movie and Castellano’s house is a real deal dream home…that is a mansion worth every penny he spent getting it built…both are easily worth the asking price from not only value but, historical significance as well
I never realized how big Paul Castellanos house was.....no wonder working class mobsters hated him wanting a higher percentage living in a house like that
He was as greedy as they come greedy money hungry boss who got what he deserved in the end
I can't believe the house if you was scraping a living and giving it to Paul and he still wants more would you shoot him
Yes I will give you that he was but still if he let everyone eat long the way he would have been unstoppable
Working class 🤣
It didn't look like that back then, it's had a face lift
Very interesting video, thanks for sharing.

That intersection in the beginning of the video on the top of the hill at the light is the highest point on the eastern seaboard, I believe it's 429 feet high
We call it toad Hill like the frog even though the spelling is a lil different
Also at 2:43 that house on the left was owned by Lenny Dykstra when he played for the Mets

Also Mookie Wilson and John Franco lived there
sick video dude love your channel
I'm hooked on your vids now and I subscribed. I heard with the Godfather house that prop-department built-up the low front walls to give the house a more fortress look for the movie. Temporary of course. Wow, Paul's house was so over the top. The architect must've iced wedding cakes before changing careers. Just too much. Man, to live in one of the houses in NYC, you know you're rolling dough. The taxes alone must be insane.
I’m going to make another visit to that godfather house so look out for it and you’re right everything is so expensive
@@MOONEYDashCam Cool. I'll check it out. So interesting that it was farmhouse. I never knew that.
Don't know if your aware, but had you gone down that short side street next to Paulies home, you would've been in the front of Paulies lawyer, the late James LaRossa's, house. Pauls attorney literally lived across the street. I know this cause I did the stucco with a guy on his home. Cameras everywhere, including on the skylights glass on the ceiling. My father was in Paulies home several times and shared that the home was beautiful inside. I was there when I was a kid with my father. The gentleman who painted Paulies home gave my father the drop cloths after he was done with the home. After my father passed away, my mother threw the drop cloths away, unaware that they were used on Paulies home. Anyway, I enjoyed the video. Brought back many memories growing up in that area and of past days.
Pretty sad to know that so much history went down in one house. Little did he know that when he left his home that afternoon, it would be his last time at the white house. It must've been pretty haunting for all those involved such as his children, his wife and relatives. Even his live-in maid Gloria must've had the shock of her life. I heard she instantly packed her belongings, took $18K and flew back to Colombia. What became of the house as far as ownership? Was it passed down to his children or was it taken from him after the Commission trial was concluded? Did his family sell it? I always wondered. Imagine owning that and not returning to it one evening.
As I understood it, his wife and daughter did live in the house for a little while after his murder, I wanna say maybe for a few years. At some point, they did eventually sell it. Don't know to who, though, and I also couldn't tell you who owns it now.
Had that affair gone on a year or two longer she'd have been in his Will and probably rich to this day from it but he never expected to be gunned down like a common street thug.

The feds drugged his dogs with "special" meatballs loaded with drugs. They broke in carefully and took pictures of lamps and furniture only to contact the manufacturers and get identical copies made to load with wiretap equipment and repeat the process and swap them out. At some point in the investigation they snatched up the maid and threatened to deport her and her family if she didn't cooperate. As a bonus they would handle the paperwork for her other relatives to get them into the country quicker. Just a few of the things I read in a book written by one of the feds after he retired.

Many mob documentaries state that this house caused Gotti, and others, to really hate Castellano, as he saw himself as more like a king, than the boss, and certainly not " one of the guys ."
I believe that’s true. Along with that he started to increase the percentage of kickbacks he wanted from his men which pissed a lot of people off.
Gotti wanted to be Boss so that is why he killed Paul and Tommy
So hypocritical cause didn't Gotti build himself a lavish mansion when boss
Very cool! I love Staten Island, I think it’s the nicest borough in NYC. Todt Hill is actually pronounced TOAD hill. The highest point is the intersection of Todt Hill Road and Ocean Terrace where you made a right turn to go to Longfellow Ave. It is the highest point not only on Staten Island, it’s the highest point on the east coast from Maine to Florida. There is a house that’s almost finished not far from Paulie’s and it looks as if you can fit Paulie’s house in it four times. I love to shock people who’ve never been to Staten Island and have a negative opinion of it by giving them tours of all the very interesting places including all five hills.
