Why won’t they reason with me? There words mean nothing. I have issued complaints, including court cases. Still, the digging continues. They laugh, and dig, even more rigorously. What should I do?
I have found a technique that is 100% effective and is simple if you have mans best friend, a dog. This is also 100% eco-friendly and will help any vegetation nearby grow better. What I did was (1) find a gopher hole and clear the entrance, (2) get a good portion of newly laid doggie poop - the softer the better, (3) insert some of the poop into hole as far as you can without packing the hole (4) get a garden hose with jet nozzle and wash the poop far into the hole (5) keep doing #3 and #4 until you use up the poop (6) refill the hole with dirt (7) Don't worry anymore about a gopher reopening that hole! Do this for all holes in your yard. I have never had a gopher reopen any hole I did this to. However, this will not prevent them from digging a new hole somewhere else but if you do this to all new holes, after a short while, they will stop putting holes in your yard. As for my neighbors yard where they did nothing, well they weren't so lucky.
Hi, what type of flowers(name) are the colourful ones always on your into video, I watch all your videos and still wonder what they are, their sooo pretty
How do I get rid of gophers around residential home with large front lawn and flowers and plants in backyard? I cannot get gophers to stop digging around empty coffee creamers filled with dirt in soil or moth balls in ground. Now gopher digging huge mound in corner of bedroom outside home threatening the foundation. Had trouble with yard gophers for over 10 years, but never this bad from overpopulation of them in neighborhood.
GOATjake it may sound crazy to some, but I have a keen eye for spotting them when they peak out to nibble some grasses. If I’m out in the yard, I’ll keep my BB gun handy, and if I see one peeking I shoot them right in the head.
(TIP) Road flares emits sulfur dioxide that will kill the grass. MOLECAT is a technically advanced patented pest control device that eliminates burrowing pests using a controlled percussive blast. No destructive digging
@@alexanjakesma Dry ice is just frozen carbon dioxide ( the same gas you breathe out) so if you shove a big chunk down their hole, it displaces the oxygen and makes it so the tunnel does not have breathable air inside. As it melts, it keeps putting out more CO2 gas which they can't breathe. I guess it could work.
I had some kind of critter that made a hole in my front yard. What worked for me was pouring 2 quarts of urine down the hole and then filling it in. I don't know what happened but I haven't seen anymore holes.
It's refreshing to see an HONEST organic gardener. I've read so many 'organic' approaches to getting rid of gophers such as trap and release, or planting marigolds, using cat hair and chewing gum. LOL! If you want to have an organic garden, you really must trap and kill gophers. It's a harsh reality.
C Antonio I have had two poblanos about 14", one with small peppers, be pulled all the way into burrow in the last three days. Not sure your technique works for all gophers...mine speak Spanglish and like it caliente!
Since 2016 I had 5 gophers at the back yard look like rats, I killed 4 of them but the last one since then I am struggling with this creature, trap and poison never been effective, any advice.
For a small lawn you can purchase what a pro uses. The gopher X machine which pumps carbon Monoxcide gas via a 6 hp motor into the main Burrow. Also you can add some oil to the motor that creates white smoke so as you pump the carbon monoxcide in the burrow with the white smoke the smoke will come out all exit and entry holes so you can find them. Using Gopher x with cinch gopher traps will rid the problem quicker.
@@davidgreve1081 GopherX machines are very effective but expensive, unless you have a large property and frequently get moles. You can use an old power lawn mower (take off the blade) and hook up the exhaust to a hose. The exhaust gets very hot so it is easy to burn yourself. Hooking the hose requires hose clamps and a trip to the hardware store to get reducing diameter fittings. But it’s also fun to put it together and connect it. An old, rusty lawn mower works better because the motor is out-of-tune and produces more CO. An old truck or diesel tractor exhaust is great too. There is a company on Amazon that sells a special fitting for car and truck exhausts. Remember: Exhausts get very hot! Probe the ground with 4 foot long probes to find the tunnels. This takes hours but is strangely fun. Cover the air holes with dirt and rocks to prevent gas escaping. How long to “treat” each tunnel? CO gas is very fatal. Don’t breathe it in over the tunnel holes. About 4-6 minutes for each. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)

Thanks for your ideas, Just for who need SEBOSS hardware cloth,1/2,1/4 opening ,19 GA, Hot dip galvanized after welding, double galvanized, strong and sturdy, delicate and beautiful, suitable as gopher wire, protect lawn/garden from all kinds of gophers.
0:07 Where is that yellow open field at with the distant mountains in the background ? i would love to live and work on a field like that someday and im not even a farmer. its beautiful
I’m at my wits end. I’ve tried Castor oil, peppermint oil, cinnamon, I’ve tried poison worms (they push them out) I’ve tried GASING them with flares and it only triggers MORE a holes. Idk what to do anymore I’ve invested $2,000+ in my beautiful yard only for it to be destroyed. I want to cry
Aww that sucks man. Road flares worked for me. I put a flare in the hole and the gophers come up within a few minutes and you can just shoot them with a gun. If your soil is different, maybe that's why it isn't working. I don't know... I have heard Dry Ice can work, but that's basically the same as the road flare method. So if one doesn't work, the other probably won't either. You could always take a roto tiller and destroy the entire yard and the gophers too!
I had a grandpa that was a greens superintendent at a golf course and he said "juicy fruit" gum worked and was what he would use. I don't know if he used it to bait a trap or if he just put it in the hole for them to choke on.
Just get Chicken Wire from Home Depot and cut it using some tin snips. Any metal wire with holes smaller than your eyeball should be fine. If you don't mind spending the money, use two layers and offset them, that way the holes are even smaller, and if you get a feister gopher that feels like trying to chew through it, he will really be wasting his time.
If gophers were on the verge of extinction, then we wouldn't treat them as pests. Trap and release? LOL! Obviously you've never had to deal with gophers.
Good advice, two traps. I've used rat traps, use a spade to create a hole where the gopher hole intersects, place the trap and cover with plywood. Never use poisons. Period.
+Yenald looshi I can tell you from experience that planting castor bean trees do not work. They will just move ahead a few feet from the tree and burrow. The seeds/beans are poisonous but the gophers wont eat them, at least mine wont. I had a lot of trees too.
I've currenty got castor planted in several places they keep tearing through my garden.. they still do, there's only a few castor plants even left alive.. doesn't bother these here a bit.
I would use live traps rather than kill traps if I ever had a gopher problem. I don't think gophers are a problem in my area though. I have not ever seen one. - Heidi

The gopher picture at the beginning of the video looks like my supervisor.
I know I'm late to this, but there are also live traps to catch and release into a wilderness area.

Ever tried peanut butter on the end of a shotgun barrel ?
It was very effective
LOVE IT !!!!
Lmao 🤣😆
Lol!!!
I've tried those gopher traps. They keep getting filled with dirt and don't snap on the gopher.
I've watched a lot of gopher-getting videos today. I liked this one the BEST! 👍😊
Hi Monica! How have you been!?
I'd say shooting it is more effective because it kills immediately in stead of letting a gopher sitting in a trap for a few hours dieting
GOATjake it may sound crazy to some, but I have a keen eye for spotting them when they peak out to nibble some grasses. If I’m out in the yard, I’ll keep my BB gun handy, and if I see one peeking I shoot them right in the head.
Yeah, you don't want gophers dieting on your property. The empty soy milk containers are a real eye sore.
(TIP) Road flares emits sulfur dioxide that will kill the grass. MOLECAT is a technically advanced patented pest control device that eliminates burrowing pests using a controlled percussive blast. No destructive digging
So...you need 2 different types of traps ? 1 at plugged hole and more along burrow ?
Gophers look like mice with longer claws.
The image leading to this video is that of a ground squirrel.
Dry ice is by far the easiest and most effective way to kill gophers
Interesting, how can I use dry ice?

I won't ask where you got the 2 quarts of urine. I will instead just assume that you play World of Warcraft.

What's wrong with trap and release? Animals were put on this planet for a. Reason. It's a shame God didn't stop with animals. 🖕
You can use all one type of trap if you like. The easy set just fit better all they down in the burrow.
another thing you can do is put a habanero chili or serrano pepper
okay thank you i will try that

OMG, I have so many Gophers in my yard that I think that they will be running me away from my property very soon.
Did you get rid of them? If so how?
Since 2016 I had 5 gophers at the back yard look like rats, I killed 4 of them but the last one since then I am struggling with this creature, trap and poison never been effective, any advice.
Boy, am I glad there’s no gophers or ground squirrels in North Georgia! 😀
By the way, such a beautiful golden retriever!
Too many snakes, haha. Not a good place to be a gopher.

Gophers love organic food !
I am using gopher guard and was wondering the how much dirt i should cover it before laying the lawn on top.
Any good thoughts or experiences?

How many use the same tunnel complex?
Thanks for the help trisha

Lawnmower with hose to exhaust other end in the hole gas em
Eat this Rob Pike

Go fer it!
just get a cat.
Gopher hawk much better trap
seems like trapping and killing gophers is not 'peaceful' gardening. Title is misleading
I agree. How does the trap work? Does it clamp on to their leg??
Dotant work

What a waist of time !!! Post a project video that actually shows the results of your methods !!!
so corny
Anyone recommend a good poison you can sprinkle on the area?
