    I had two questions. So I don't have instant pot, but a normal pot, can I cook this on that? And can I add coconut milk instead of whole milk?

      You can make it in pressure cooker or instant pot in less time. Slow cooker takes approximately 4 hours and I have never cooked in normal pot. But that can be definitely done. You can soak dal for 3 hours and then keep it on slow and keep checking it will take much longer time to cook properly if cooked in normal pot

      You can add coconut milk but taste will alter considerably. Cashew milk would be a better option

      Butter is non negotiable in Dal makhani 😁😁
