    Good tips. My stylist records which quadrant of my hair she first starts applying the relaxer and rotates each time to prevent the issue of one section being straighter than any other.

    I've been relaxing my hair for about four years and I always put my relaxer in the fridge. This minimizes the burns esp if you're a last minute person like me. It takes a while before the relaxer starts burning. Remember the longer you leave relaxer on your hair on the finer it gets. I would recommend trying just don't leave it in too long for obv reasons.

    Out of all the hair channels that I watch, including the top ones, I've never heard these tips broken down so clearly from anyone . Great video!
    My hair is relaxed and touches the top of my slacks . I have never had hair this long and heathy in my life. I found that relaxing after 8 weeks really helped my hair to grow. The new growth might be a bit of a pain at first but will pay off in the end. Also, if my scalp feels a bit itchy i use just a little bit of dry tea tree oil on it. I don't trim my hair every time I relax. I only trim my hair when necessary. If you need to trim every time you relax or every few months there might be a problem with your routine. It might be your relaxers are overlapping or your not moisturizing enough or you're manipulating and playing with your hair too much. If you have to keep trimming your hair try to figure out what you could be doing since constent trims leads to very slow or unnoticeable growth which is very frustrating.

    My sister flat irons her relaxed hair every other day. I'm surprised her hair hasn't fallen out. My daughters hair is relaxed as well and its mid back length and thick. I been natural for four years and I'm seriously thinking of relaxing my hair as well. Thanks for sharing!

    I cut my hair and the Dominican stylist said I should not wait for 12 weeks. So my last perm I put in8 weeks. I see my hair growth a little I will now try for 12 weeks. But it's really difficult to deal with the second nature of the hair when you have relaxer.

    Another tip when you are experiencing burning discomfort when receiving a touch up ( relaxer) is to spray vinegar; it neutralizes the ammonia compounds. it's been working for me for 9 years. :) Your hair looks great and I'm happy to find out that you are from Canada! The fact that you mentioned Winners in a previous video was the giveaway. :D

    I feel like many relaxed people don't feel setters followed by wrapping could be your best friend and can be dried without direct heat (as long as you have time). A relaxer no no is wearings buns/ponytails in the same positions regularly or tightly since the hair type can crease and eventually foster lead to breakage. Also co washing isnt best for relaxed hair since oils actually promote build up in dusty/dry environment and relaxed/fine hair holds these oils best

    • @StyleDomination
      @StyleDomination  8 лет назад +4

      Hey Jo!! I think about this so much, but I am HORRIBLE at putting rollers in my hair. My mom was a hairstylist and she does it for me once in a blue moon. I need to practice doing roller sets. I agree with you 100% about the constant bunning in the same place. I alternate between buns and parting my hair down the middle, making two big twists, and pinning on top of my head. I look like a black extra from the Sound of Music. Lol! Whatever works! Thank you so much for watching. Means a lot!

    • @Jayariee
      @Jayariee 8 лет назад +3

      I love roller sets but it's because I have time on a weekend to walk around with it all day until it dries. It took me a while but i learnt to do it myself, I do about 10 with large setters and 3 medium setters

    You made a good point. I have always had someone jab my scalp with a comb while trying to smooth the relaxer through my hair. And then immediately my scalp would start to tingling and then burning. Ever since i was a child i though that burning was something normal. I did not find out other wise till I became an adult. Smh. A relaxer should not burn.

    Great tips. I do most, but learned a few things here. I don't know if it's my hair, but the neutralizing shampoo never seems to get the excess residue out. I always use it but I have been doing part white vinegar and 3 parts water as a last rinse and it gets it totally out. What are your thoughts about this?

    Hello, I love your videos. I'm relaxed and I'm so glad I found your channel. It's been very helpful. I am trying to add protein into my regimen since I'm having dryness and breakage from the stylist I went to over processed my hair. You mentioned any conditioner that has keratin in it. The Rene Furterer absolue keratine ultimate renewal mask has Hydrolyzed wheat protein and plant based keratin. In your opinion can I use this mask as my protein conditioner once a month? Thanks for your help. Again, LI love your Chanel. ☺️

    Love your videos and your channel! I was curious as to the consistency of almond oil (i.e. thickness, is it weighty for the hair, etc.) I really enjoy the consistency of avocado oil because it seems like it would be thick but it actually is not. I like a lot of body and movement to my hair and am not a fan of oils that weigh the hair down. Avocado oil absorbs into the hair wonderfully and works beautifully as an oil treatment. I'm interested in trying an alternate oil to rotate between for my hair routine. Thank you in advance! God Bless!!!

    • @StyleDomination
      @StyleDomination  8 лет назад +2

      +MorganCultura Hi there! Thanks for watching! I really love almond oil. I think it's a wonderful consistency...not too heavy but heavier than let's say olive oil. It's similar to avocado oil...both are very good options that I use. I think it would be a great option for alternating with avocado oil. What I do is alternate with Haitian Black Castor Oil (HBCO) which is really thick. So, after washing, I'll put the HBCO on my ends and scalp, but the rest of the week, I'll use almond oil or coconut oil. As long as you are putting a little of any oil on your ends, you're golden. Take care! xoxoxox

    • @CulturaPA
      @CulturaPA 8 лет назад +2

      +Style Domination Thank you so much for the reply. I'll definitely try the almond oil and the HBCO as well. • @StyleDomination
      @StyleDomination  8 лет назад +2

    I've been watching your videos like crazy the past few days. On january 4, 2020 I got a relaxer done. The stylist used a no lye hair relaxer. And ever since my hair has been feeling so dry. I have not been feeling satisfied with my hair. My hair is breaking and dry no matter how many times I moisturize it. I've never used a no lye hair relaxer. I've used the one with the lye in it I believe. But can you please help me because I'm scared... I dont know what to do

I can feel an improvement in my hair. So let me help you. Are you doing weekly deep conditioning and protein treatments? Are you using low manipulative hairstyles? How often do you use heat?

    • @CelesteTheeDragonLady
      @CelesteTheeDragonLady 6 лет назад

      Kendra P it depends on the texture of your hair. Coconut oil for me has too much protein for my protein sensitive hair. And it can be really thick for the hair. Almond Oil is light, and has a slippery consistency. Olive oil is also light without adding too much protein.

      Mika Rose textlax is a process used to purposely under process your relaxer. So they basically don't leave it on that long. people do this so that their hair isn't bone straight and they can keep some of their texture and thickness.
