Nice pickup. Was kinda wanting to hear more about that acgs grading. I was hoping there was an amusing story like the guy got screwed by a grader and decided to slab his own or something lol.
The details one was like 300 if i remember correctly, I didn’t even ask about the ungraded one. I’m not good at grading commems so I don’t wanna get burned on one especially at a high price
I found out about this coin show about a year and a half ago from just googling “coin shows near me”. Then once you go to a coin show there is usually people handing out flyers for other ones. There are also some coin club/numismatic association shows that come up and it helps to be part of a group to find out about them!
I try to go to this Phoenix show every other month or so. I’ll never do any business with the dealer that you were looking at the 1938-D Oregon Trail commemorative half in MS67. His price on that coin is typical of his tactics, namely pricing sky high. Greysheet retail on that coin is around $575 and he wanted $700 (in the neighborhood of 20% over Greysheet RETAIL). I had some graded Morgan’s that were duplicates in my collection I was looking to sell a year or so ago. He offered about half of Greysheet WHOLESALE. I know the dealers have got to make a profit, but I don’t know how he even sells anything, except to the uninformed. A lot of his stuff is in generic slabs, too, with suspect grades. Proceed with caution with this dealer. There are several other dealers there that have a better reputation, including the one early in your video you mentioned that has nice coins that didn’t want you recording him or his inventory. Sorry for the long post.
I appreciate the long post! I agree it was way too expensive, and I don’t like generic slabs especially for commems. I definitely frequent some of the dealers more often than others. This coin show was missing a few of the dealers I was hoping to see
Greysheet doesn't list retail do they? They just list wholesale bid price. (n fact the only ask price I see is on bullion silver on page 5. It has been a while since I have gotten a greysheet did they change it up?
@@RobertLee-wi5kc I was specifically referring to the online Greysheet app, for which you have to have a subscription. There, they list both a retail/CPG price, and a wholesale/bid price.
I love the classic commemorative coins but I always avoid most of the ungraded ones just because I fear buying a fake one. been putting together only pcgs graded commemoratives and feel much better with them then raw commemoratives, especially the gold dollar commemoratives I want to get.
I agree, I don’t trust ungraded commems, not because I question authenticity, but because I question the grade/details. More often than not ungraded commems that are being sold at shows/ebay have been cleaned. Check out my new USMEX coin show video, I recently picked up some cool golden commems!
@@WildWestCoins I fear fakes because I have seen a few and just don't like the risk along with them being cleaned as i seem to rush purchases at time. I Watched your new vid right after this one, would love those pan pacs and sesquicentennial for those amazing prices you got them for. only thing for me is I am trying hard to keep all just pcgs for some reason probably ocd and not liking the new NGC 10 point system they are trying.
Sorry for the late response… but no I don’t know who that is by name. I will say though that their prices were a little high, and ancients can better be found at reliable auction sites such as CNG
I was talking to the dealer for a while and think I’ll be doing a lot more business with him in the future. My idea was to just let him win this one so I can have more merit with him to get better prices down the line :) sometimes you gotta let others win
@@WildWestCoins I do that a lot too, especially if I like talking to the seller. I usually suck at negotiation, I usually sit there looking at the coin so long they make their offer of a lower price to get me to bite and it usually works. got lucky at the Denver coin expo where all the commems I got were already a few dollars below greysheet and then the sellers backed off a bit more on them, so i guess I am improving the negotiation skills a bit. snagged a nicely toned MS66 antietam commem for $200 under MS66 price, i assume since the toning makes the coin a bit darker but still has nice color.
You can upload my coin image to the fair and sell it,I will give you 5% , I have many ancient and rare coins if you also help me, I thank you so much !!
Great another Coin Vid keep them coming!
The price on those ancients... OUCH! :o
Thats some serious overpricing.
I like those pov coin show videos, thanks for that!
Thank you, I’m a big fan of your videos as well, so thanks for that too!
Do you buy it ?
Awesome I like your videos

Great video! Keep it up
I’m interested for Roman Empire coins
Thanks !

Thanks! I think they were just saying it was too expensive to grade, which doesn’t make sense to me when you’re dealing with coins around $1k
I missed that show.maybe this next month I could make it
There’s a few local shows coming up!
Cheers
Always good videos from coin shows.
How much they were asking for the first Isabella Quarter you saw ungraded and how much for the graded details?

Great video! That rainbow toner is awesome. Kind of pricey though. How do you hear about all these coin shows? Is there a specific website?

@@alwaysseekingsilver Thanx I just get the wholesale coin and paper a couple times a year.
Good call on the Oregon Trail $520 Greysheet at MS 67
Thanks, someone else told me that dealer always prices way above sheet
I also have many ancient coins I want to sell
❤❤❤
appreciate the support as always ✊🏼

Do you, or does anybody, know who the ancient coin dealer is that was set up with all of the graded coins?

Goood Luck trying to resell the coin one day and get back your $ 500.
which coin?
10K Morgan dollars would weigh 270kg so how did the guy carry the bank bag 😂
Lol idk. I like listening to stories though. Maybe the dude was really jacked
The Binion story this man quoted isn’t quite true. There are some great documentaries on this and a movie that you could probably see it on RUclips.
Interesting, I’ll check out some videos, thanks!
