So, special needs kids are God’s gift to the planet in one way or another. Speech issues gives the gift of sharpening our “telepathic” abilities as humans. Gabe’s dad almost said it. We are all telepathic but we are taught to dumb it down as we grow, these kids are coming in numbers to help humanity cultivate this innate gift. They are truly brave souls that come with such selfless missions❤❤❤.

You could not have a Better Friend and Sibling like Gabe.
We all have off days and need to express how we feel. The problem is how we express those feelings and the consequences we pay for behaving inappropriately.
Gabe; You're one amazing young man. Thank you for sharing your life and family with us. Gabe, I'm sending hugs and nose kisses.
People like Gabe is why I became a Special Education teacher. Everywhere I went someone with Down Syndrome would come over to me. Once I was in the park studying and 3 down syndrome adult's, on an outing, come over to me. They took my hands and tried to pull me over to their groups location. One of the adults in charge kept telling them no. I informed the adult that it was okay and asked if I could join them. I had so much fun. I will always remember that day.

Thank you for sharing you story. I'm a retired behavioral specialist and special education teacher. I love watching the relationship with Nick and Gabe and I'm so reluctant to offer an unsolicited thought for you to consider. When individuals have behaviors their consequences need to be natural consequences. Gabe's natural consequence was to not be able to attend his program the following day. If he was truly missing his sister, taking away his call to Grandma was taking away another important person in his life even only for a moment. All behavior has a function, its either to avoid something unpleasant or to gain power and control of a situation. I've worked in public schools, community day programs like Gabe's, Residential and Hospital programs before I retired. My note is meant to be helpful and not intrusive. I hope you have a great holiday.

I am so happy Gabey is doing better after what happened that day. We ALL are human beings, Gabriel EQUALLY so. He has rough moments just like every other person on this planet does. I think the Safier family has things firmly under control, y'all are doing EXACTLY what is best for him, as you are the ones who know him best. You are loving on him, helping him navigate boundaries and consequences in a loving and supportive manner, and showing him that everyone else loves and supports him too. Just keep doing what you have been doing all along, Safier family. I don't think Gabriel could have been born into a better, more loving family.

2 days after my 4th birthday my mom gave me a baby brother, he passed away in his sleep 7 weeks later. He had water on his brain, and it burst. Had he lived he would have had a lot of health issues and autism. I often wonder about him and what he would have been like. I'm the 2nd eldest of 12 and he is the only one to have this problem. I think God knew how tough it would be on my family and took him to him and I know someday I will meet him
Thanks for sharing Gabe with us. Love you all like family.

@@margeelliott1846 I am so terribly sorry to hear about what happened. I am othe only living child my parents produced. I would have had a younger brother but there was a miscarriage involved mid - term. I, too, wonder what mine would have been like, what he would look like, and who he would be. We will meet our respective brothers one day. Thankfully, I got married and inherited 2 big brothers (I married the baby), the older of which is married so I inherited a sister, 2 nieces, and a nephew too. Plus my husband's parents, who are like my own now. Also got more cousins, aunts, and uncles now than I could possibly count, in addition to the 6 biological cousins, 2 biological uncles, and 3 biological aunts on my dad's side. My mom and I are both only children.

Hello Safier family, my younger sister has Down’s syndrome, and it is beautiful to watch your videos. Because people with Downs are so lovable and joyful, I find that people (outside my own family) expect them to be super happy ALL the time, they have feelings just like all of us. My sister was suspended from her day centre twice for refusing to partake in activities (for a day at a time), and it transpired that she was being bullied there by another attendee. Your family are right, these comments help everyone. I hope that Gabe is feeling happier now ❤. Love to your family 🥰

My great aunt had Downs & we lost her about 10 years ago. Your videos have gotten me thru a weepy christmas season (in the best way!). She actually quit talking to anyone for about 15 years. No one knew why & we just learned to follow her lead. Then on christmas morning (2008) she just asked my papa, her big brother, to hand her something. Our jaws dropped & we all started clapping and cheering. It was the best sound EVER. She then proceeded to call every person she knew & she chattered nonstop for the remaining years we had with her. Im not sure what my point is. Your videos have just brought up some very happy memories. Gabe is absolutely wonderful & the bond you have with your family is so awesome to experience. Thank you for sharing these moments. They really do mean a lot to so many different people!

That’s on them though for not seeing enough of your videos to understand what you are trying to accomplish. Unfortunately, there will always be some who will be skeptical regardless of what you do or don’t do. Let me start by saying how much I love the show . Having a special needs child is hard work and a lot of ups and downs. But well worth it. My grandson Everett is six . He has autism . If he wanted something he would take your hand and show you . Then he went to words . He would get so frustrated at me if I couldn’t figure out what he wanted. It would break my heart ❤️. My daughter Morgan is an 👼 angel sent by god . She has such patients and a gentle heart. I give her credit for working with him and teaching him what it looks like to be sad ,mad, angry ,happy and knowing what they mean. He’s turning seven in a couple of months. He is now speaking sentences. I’m so very proud of both of them . There are no words that can express the love I have for him. ❤

Hi from the UK I hope you are all well 😘❤️😘❤️
I have just joined the Safier universe yesterday and I just love these videos, they do make my day. Gabe is such a sweetheart who always makes me smile 😃 The relationship you all have with him and him with you is an inspiration.
I have worked with children and adults with learning difficulties including Down’s syndrome and I can’t imagine how difficult and frustrating is is for Gabe when he is having an off day and knows he’s having an off day but just can’t express how he is feeling in his own way and in a way that is understood by others.
In my work we used visual aids to prompt like pictures that our clients would pick out. That would give some small indication about the underlying issue but sometimes it could be the last thing they remember that’s not necessarily related. So sometimes it’s harder to get to the bottom of it. Sometimes the build up could have started a few days before. So there could have been different things there that triggered behaviour. It would have been a case of looking at events leading up to that and finding out which one was most important to them.
His relationship with each member of the family is just so beautiful to watch especially with Nick and Kira, you’re his idol. Who better to lovingly teach and support Gabe in navigating the world around him.. Gabe is such a beautiful, sweet soul who is also teaching us about empathy, understanding, love and compassion
Sending you all lots of love and a huge hug from me to you Gabe 😘 ❤🤗❤

That was such a lovely video. So much love permeates your whole family.
They guy saying everything’s not always rosy is true. Nobody would want to hurt your feelings. So didn’t say anything.
You all were so loving & caring! Who’d want to spoil that!
Back when first started watching. I wondered how in reality it would be ok. Everytime he kisses your nose. He gets his way.
In the real world this wouldn’t happen.
If when anything would happen to any of you. He’d have to go with others.
Always getting his way with not work with strangers. They would think badly of him. Think he was spoiled.
I’m a nurse. Worked with disabilities & downs. First thing they told me. They can’t have their way all the time. Some reacted with fury.
Was just worried about him in the future.
So glad you’ve made him such a happy life! Many don’t get that! 👍🥰😍

I’m really grateful that your family shows ALL aspects of what it means to have a family member that can’t always be what everyone wants them to be 100% of the time. It’s also wonderful that you didn’t “over discipline “ Gabe! When my son with intellectual disabilities has an off day with his staff, it is important to follow through (like disallowing the sleep over,) but then making staying home a fun time! (Let’s face it, when any of us have a bad day, do we get punished for not quite being ourselves?!). My son and I usually “play hooky” the next day, and take in a movie and lunch!! Does wonders for both mental health and our bond to each other!! I can only imagine how hard it must be for Gabe to miss his twin. They love each other in a way only twins can understand. Thank God he has the rest of his family to help him feel better when Kira can’t be there. Bravo to your family, and the endless source of love you have for each other!! ❤❤❤❤.

I love your videos. I am a teacher and I have worked with all kinds of special needs people. From infants to adults. They show so much love that you you feel so special to. I dont treat them any different or make them feel different from anyone else. I have cousins that are special needs. Yall show how much Gabe means to yall and how much yall mean to him. I can go on and on about it. I fight for them and stand up for them.

Thanks for this heartwarming but direct video. Before I retired I was privileged to be a support staff for mentally but not love challenged adults. Wasn't I just a lucky to get payed for such a blessing. They helped me much more than I helped them. Did they have off days? Of course but don't we all? We are all in thus together ❤💛💜💕♥💙. LOL from Carole and the kittens 😻😽🥰.

My younger brother had Down syndrome; he didn't walk until he was sixteen and never learned to talk. And, still, he had a wicked sense of humor. His teachers weren't sure if he was a good candidate for ASL. He learned a few words and could apply them to objects as well as concepts. What I learned from that was to not limit people with my own conceptions or misconceptions. I learned not to put limits on him and became a better advocate.

Dear Mom,Dad,Nick,Kira and Gabe you are a warm, loving family and I admire how you all share your life in hopes people understand
more of what life with Down Syndrome is for Gabe but also for the family. Life is not always sunshine and roses and you showing
us the off days, the days where things are not fine is pretty brave. But it gives us a real look into your lives. You are all amazing
and Gabe you will get through your though days because you have a family that loves you.

I personally do not know anyone with a special needs child. However through my job I talk to many people who have specail needs children. This channal is giving me a better understanding of what these parnets are going through. Thank you for that. And all of you sharing your lives is very inspiring. Nick your parents are inspiring in showing you and Kira how to love Gabe and to be accepting that he has needs. A lot of times I feel that people with special needs still want to be treated with respect and dignity and all of you are doing that!

We all have our bad days. So Grabriel is no different than any other person, but, this is very helpful and informative on how you deal with his bad days. I'm a foster care social worker and though I don't have any children that I deal with have down syndrome as of yet, I do have children that are autistic and some are just troubled by their personal life that they are dealing with. Foster care children do need extra care, understanding and patience and your videos help me help them. Its inspirational on how honest and pure your videos are. I'm learning so much. Thank you and God Bless!! 😊😊
