Wings like Kolbe are the fastest guys on the field, their closest equivalent in American Football is probably a wide receiver. Wings are mostly meant to be finishers, they aren't really playmakers as such. They are generally either fast and great steppers (like Kolbe) or like Tight Ends, other players try to create space for wings to do their job. Generally fans like wings like Kolbe, but generally the Halfbacks (Number 9, the Scrum half and Number 10 the Flyhalf) are considered more important to the team. They perform similar functions to a QB. A great player to look at is Antoine Dupont, probably the best 9 (Scrumhalf) in the world and best player in the world right now.
kolbe began his career in number 10 position and often plays at this spot with his club the best club in the world : Le stade toulousain
so he can create space for others and he is a good tackler
Antoine DuPont isn't the best number 9 in my opinion faf de klerk wold most likely be better with the ability to create more plays and the fact that he made the springboks good again just because of his good Dickinson at the rucks.
Kolbe is a winger. Thise are usually your two fastest players, and they play out wide.
Kolbe= One of the most slippery Union players you never wish to have to mark, especially on the back line where it's often one on one... He's the very definition of a 'Pocket Rocket'... I'd fake a pulled hamstring in the first minute if I found out he was my opposite number for the night, let him crush some other poor bastards spirit... The man's a machine... I'd love to have him as a teammate, lothe to have him in the opposite numbered jersey...

Earned my sub. American football and rugby is both contact however American football is a stop start sport where rugby is full on high intensity. All players must be able to attack and defend. In rugby the kicker is one of the most important positions.

About the guys on the outside you’re right they are usually the fastest guys on the field and are out there to finish off the plays and go in for the tries 🤷🏻♂️ they faster guys are called wingers numbers 11 and 14 on the field 🤙🏼

1-8 are forwards. The big guys who are mostly between 5’10” - 7’ tall and 200-300lbs. They do most of the grunt work like scrummaging, mauling, hitting rucks, carrying into traffic. The backs are the faster, more agile players. They’re numbered 9-15. They usually range from about 5’7”-6’4” and between 170-250lbs. They use the ball in open space and use set plays, speed and skills to break the defensive line. There are exceptions like Marc Andreu at 5’5” or Nandolo who is a 300lb back.
But all players need to have ball skills these days.
Cheslin is kinda a throw back. In the past, wingers were smaller, agile and really fast. These days, wingers are usually much bigger.
He'd be in the low 4.3's over 40. Rugby doesnt do 40 dash times but after a while you can tell how quick these guys are. His north south running is fantastic, he can change direction in 5th gear better than anyone. He's possibly the smallest guy out on the field every match , 170 pounds is tiny for a rugby player nowadays.
Apart from some scrum halves he was the shortest player of the about 600 to be at the last Rugby World Cup in 2019. Faf de Klerk, who is worth a reaction, was on the same team and is slightly shorter - he's known as The Giant Slayer.
Kolbe is 5' 7" tall/small but he has the heart of the proverbial Lion

Also, while Kolbe might be the best player in the world at his position, his teammate Antoine DuPont was recently voted world player of the year, and would be a great player to do a reaction to.

Hes like 5'7 and 180lbs i think. He has great acceleration but because of his short legs his top speed isn't the best. His cousin is Wayde Van Niekerk the olympic and world record holder for 400m. Rugby players don't generally work on their top speed because once you break the line the first 10metres are the most important. After getting past the 10metre you basically only have the fullback to beat as the last defender so top end speed isn't that necessary though it obviously does help if youre trying to run someone down in defence. Kolbe only really made his name in the last 2 years but has been playing for a while I guess he hit his prime a little later than most lol

Cheslin is not super fast in outright speed, but his acceleration makes him really good. Id say he's about a 10.9 100m runner, but would be pretty decent at the 40 yard dash.

Usually in South Africa we start playing officially around 12, and annual official tournamens like craven week during Easter weekend...and so forth.
Because of rugby union rules, it's important not to start kids too early, and we also use tear off ribbons for kids to avoid tackles and head injuries...
