No one talks about this reality of homecomings!!! They are so over being out to sea, exhausted and mentally drained. It’s hard having those expectations and them not being what you thought they’d be. But it does happen. And I think it’s awesome that you told your truth and feelings about it. So happy he came home safe and you two were reunited!
I've had so many people reach out and say the same thing! Its so crazy to me the expectation vs the reality of what people (even myself) have for it. It was definitely a reality check! Thank you so much for commenting :)

I honestly would of had the same reaction as you if my husband didn't seem excited to see me after his long deployment. My husband was in the Marine Corps. He just got out a couple months ago. The longest he was ever in the field for was 2 months, so I was very fortunate. I couldn't imagine 8 months! You play it out in your head how magical the moments going to be and plan it all out, then when it doesn't go that way it's discouraging. However, 8 months stuck on a ship has to change you a bit. Congrats on the new place, and wish you both all the best!

My boyfriend is in the U.S. Army and he got back from him first deployment in June of this year, Things were not at all what I expected and like you said which I can 100% relate to is that it hurt my feelings because I truthfully did not know what to expect. It was almost like you have to relearn each other again which is normal. I hope he is doing well, and I am proud of you and him!!

My experience with returning after long deployments was sometimes multi-dimensional. You fall into a weird cycle on the ship (especially after the deployments that last over a half of a year) and "normal" life off the ship is no longer a normal. So when we would return it almost felt foreign...a little detached.
And I think a lot of sailors struggle with a little depression during these long periods of deployment especially when they don't include exciting ports and experiences.
But once things become kind of routine again and you find your place back in your family...it's the new normal again. Navy life can be hard, that's for sure. 💙❤️💙

Homecomings are never the same for the one that was gone and those waiting for the return. I have been in the Navy for over 25 years and let me tell you everyone of my Homecomings was different.Sending a welcome home Shipmate to your husband.

I guess none of us can imagine the state of mind your hubby was in. Must’ve felt so exhausted and relieved to be back after those 8 months and probably just too drained for a big emotional outpour!
Must’ve been a bit of shock to come back to some sort of normality (and with the pandemic and everything I bet he didn’t really know what to expect himself!) but your feelings of disappointment are so understandable and so honest for you to share them!
I would’ve felt exactly the same as you if I hadn’t seen my husband for 8 months, and would’ve built up big expectations too for the reunion!!
Thankyou for sharing as I’m sure this will help many people who have been and will be in similar situations!

Just found out my husbands deployment date this morning and I was honestly nervous to watch this video because I was afraid it would make me too emotional. But, I’m very thankful for something of more realistic expectations. ❤️
From what I've read in the comments a lot of spouses have had very similar experiences. Good luck on the upcoming deployment! You've got this! :)
Glad the gang's back together. I can relate to long deployments; four on and carry on, never ending routine, binocular liberty, it can change a person's perspective. Back to home life, that's the cure ! Stay well guys.
Only military wives can relate! My husband was gone for 6 months (Air Force) and I totally get it: they are really trying so hard to get back into the regular life, cause they have been briefed and all while away. Tons of things they can’t even tell us 100%, but I get it!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
My little brother is coming home from basic training and AIT in 10 days. He left in June fresh after graduation so of course I’m watching military homecomings on RUclips! Thanks for sharing your honest experience with your husbands homecoming. I’ve been worried we’re gonna overwhelm my brother with everyone hugging on him and asking a million questions. Good to know to take things slow especially getting back to normal life ❤️
I totally had a similar expectation when my husband got home from deployment and it was similar to yours. It was an adjustment and things eventually went back to normal and he became more like himself over time! We also found out I was pregnant right before he left so his first sight of me since seeing me as my regular self 5-6 months prior was now a super pregnant wife! But I definitely understand and it was much more different and a bit harder of an adjustment than I anticipated. 💛
Ohh man! I can imagine that it was a lot harder being pregnant and feeling that way, with the hormones. I would have been a dang WRECK!
Victoria Birch it was emotional for sure and a big adjustment but it got better with time and I’m sure time will do the same for y’all 💗 I’ll be praying for you guys during this transition and I pray things will start to feel more normal soon!

Glad you finally uploaded. Was getting worried, storm Laura and Corona Virus have hit Louisiana pretty hard from what I hear, Good to see your in good health. Deployments always rough..... there's so many metaphorical analogies I could use but none quite explain it right. Maybe that's a good idea for a video, it would be nice to hear your partner tell us in his own words about deployment and what it's like especially during these unusual times (If he wants to, And is allowed to of course).
Btw I was on RUclips the other day for the first time in a month and noticed you hadn't posted and I decided to look you and Alexandra up under famous birthdays because I was curious and bit bored anyhow apparently it was Alexandra's birthday yesterday??? 30 Sept??? What I found insane is that the 30th September 1996 is also my little sisters birthday (I know some people have the same birth date and year) but I haven't actually met anyone else who does before soo I thought that was pretty rad. If the internet is correct and it is Alexandra's birthday I'd like to wish her a very Happy 24th Birthday, hope she's getting treated as grand as my sister was today for hers :) I'm sure if it's her birthday that'll be covered in the next vlog. Anyway I'm gonna stop wasting your time with my rambling lol Look forward to all the future videos to come :)

Maybe you need to start a channel or support group for new military spouses? It would probably be so helpful for others to know what NOT to expect and how you can best help them transition back to you. ❤

My son is in the army and he is on deployment for 1 year and had to leave his wife and 2 year old behind for a entire year! It’s been very hard on the baby he’s so young he just doesn’t understand. Glad your man is back!

I am so happy he is home! We have gone through two deployments (Army) and the redeployment phase is definitely the hardest. Just get back into your routine and things will fall into place!

I always go back to watch this video to mentally prepare myself for what's to come. My boyfriend is also currently deployed on an aircraft carrier and stationed in Virginia as well!! Literally also deployed End of December too. I planned a surprise trip to fly out to see him when he does get back home. He just got extended a month more longer on his deploy tho :( By the way he talks about things and seems very disconnected and detached from me everyday, I'm pretty sure this is how homecoming might turn out for me as well but I'm facing reality with that and that it's okay because I know how mentally draining it is to be on a ship and out at sea for 6-8 months.
I'm just hoping he returns to his normal state after he gets a break.

The bro was probably very anxious..... I have no experience of military deployment but F if I came back to family after 8 months I would very anxious. Hell its weird going back to work after a week off.
My heart really goes out to Military spouses people ( like myself) doing long distance ( no matter the length). ITS HARD and weird to be honest. Hang in we are all strong enough to get through it! Social media strikes again, strongly feel those are staged. Doing they exact same thing since February 😐.

Glad to see u i had lots deal with i had serve heart attacks and strokes due to blood clots effected left side of brain hand paralized right foot turns in paramedics brought me back heart stops 3 times on meds shots perday and i have momma cat bella gave birth to 5 tiny kittens i been up few days my bday oct 24 2020 i be 43 wow almost here i hope get a shout out on that day
