"One small step for music, a giant leap for clarinetkind" 💪🏼🔝
Teaching resonance fingerings is vital. Much better to teach them earlier on when possible. Helps keep fingers low to the clarinet, obvious tone improvements, and easier note transitions. Great lesson!
Excellent demonstration on how to do a proper way to cross the break 👌👌👌👌
Whoever gave Dr. Gainey a thumbs down, I hope your reeds dry out
LOL!
I would make them play a trill from low c to middle b flat double fortissimo at a tempo of 330 without going out of time!
@@jonnobloggs1139 oh dang they gonna have a bad time
😂
Great explanation, and what a calm and beautiful voice she has.
It's not just 'young' students who struggle with playing over the break. It's new 'players'! I'm 52 and have started learning the clarinet. I've just gotten to this stage and omg it is difficult
Thank you for these tips! It would be useful for someone like me who's having struggles on crossing the break.
Thank you so much! This has helped my cross the break for the first time!

Excellent teaching!! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Super excited to put these techniques to work this morning. But first, BREAKFAST! Lol
It's the most important meal of the day!
Great video, thanks so much. With regards to embouchure and air support changes needed to cross the break, is there another video that someone could link me to? Thanks so much
one of the best ways to make crossing the break is to play bass clarinet and then go back to Bb clarinet because omg its much harder on bass and if you can do it on that it makes it super easy on Bbh
Do you have any tips for breaking bad fingering habits?
I'm going to be in university soon, and I just learned recently, I've been playing the "wrong fingering" on the clarinet when I cross the break. In other words, I play B on the right hand and C on the left. I've been learning it this way the entire time I've been playing the clarinet, so it's hard to break this habit.
If you have any tips, recommendations, anything, please do tell
Lady, I don't know who you are, but I LOVE YOU as a teacher. You come across as caring and trustworthy and if a teacher has those two traits they can do no wrong in my book.
Yes. She is FABULOUS!
The end of this video is something none of my 2 clarinet teachers told me in 7 years.. i can't believe it
Good Day. How much cost for that clarinet?
I appreciate the thumb tip btw
Can you guys do a video on the Beta Clarinets?
reVize I’ve done one for Dawkes
A revelation!
My problem is going from a to b
Resonance fingering? Oh that makes sense now. Thanks very much for sharing.
Interesting but too fast.
