Working my way through your videos and enjoying them a lot. I’m new to gravel and loving it so far. Braking frightens me to death at moment as so different to on the road. Keep up the good work 👏👏
Rice is a lot lower in fibre than oats which is my main reason! I used to have oats always as a pre race meal, and now I’ve tried rice I’m never going back aha. Stomach feels so much better
Great effort and insight into the event. Do you think you'd take the vestvagain or just a more simple camelbak or similar bladder pack? The rocky road sweets that girl had yum.
I actually wouldn’t have raced that distance with a hydration vest typically. Went for that because I had the traka 360 this weekend and was using it as a practise event. Sacrificed time on the dirty riever for better preparation for the traka :) they were divine!
Reviver is like every other sportive nowadays in that a lot of people who aren’t good enough to actually race, treat it like one because they’ve pinned a number on. The slight difference here is that there are so few actual gravel races in the uk that you also get actual racers turning up too. As long as people aren’t racing to the point where trail etiquette and common courtesy are forgotten, it’s each to their own. I rode the Reiver 200 in 2019 and the biggest problem was dust…..
Conversely though there's people trying to do the 200km within the time limit, so forcing them to the back 'out of the way' so that others can bomb around the 130 at 25km/h doesn't really make sense. Ultimately they're going to have to set people off in distinct waves, 200s first, and I suspect have the course split much earlier between 130 and 200 so if you're trying to do the 130 in super fast time, you get ahead of the slow 200k people whilst they do the extra 70k earlier on.
Enjoyed that! My Dirty Reiver video lands tomorrow evening =) Nowhere near as fast - I even forgot my numbers at the start.. but thats okay because it's not a race😅
Just stumbled across your channel Maddy, very nice video. I'd be lucky to do 250 Watts for 2 minutes let alone 2 hours 😂. I've just got a Mason Bokeh gravel bike and am toying with doing the odd cycling video on my channel, not likely to be as professional as your videos though. Have dropped you a sub, and looking forward to watching your other vids.
Very nice! Interesting - after yesterday I was looking for a new rain jacket!! My GB Duro buddy recommended Albion - and I see you wearing it. And another guy recommended Glibber - and I see your team-mate wearing it!! Any thoughts on the right rain jacket after yesterday??? BTW - I won a bottle of Weldtite - great guys. Picked up a bottle of lube (the only thing I could fit in my pack) to support and think I'll get some of the carbon protector. - As long as we're supporting your sponsors! LOL!
I’m not sure exactly which layer I would have worn yesterday! I went for no rain jacket, because the only one I own is a Gore jacket, which is incredible when it is raining and cold, but not ideal if you’re putting an effort in, as it gets way too toasty! I wasn’t overly cold in a jersey and arm warmers, but I was maybe distracted by how much my legs hurt 🤣
That was so good I was almost wiping the dirt from my glasses 😂😂 Interesting to hear how you planned for the race and very impressed with the effort/watts that you put in especially at the beginning. What did you do to warm up before the start? Good luck in Spain, hope you get a podium 🤞
Ahaha it truly was dirty. Eating and drinking whilst putting in an effort is such a different challenge, so really needs practising (although that means unpleasant long efforts aha! So better to do in a ‘race’ environment.) Actually didn’t warm up at all. Normally I would ride for 30 mins with some slight surges/efforts, but I thought that we would have 3km neutralised, so didn’t warm up! Thank you :) I think the Traka will be as much a mental battle as physical, but I’m definitely going to give it my all.
@@maddynutt Yes! Very very VERY north but still Northumberland. 😁 Glad you had a good time up there though. Summer is more chill to ride there but any time is pretty epic!
Its not a Cyclo Cross event . ie Blow your brains out of the start lol. Anything over three hours off road is a proper grind so kudos for keeping it together to the finish.
Ahahha as a non cx rider I did surprise myself with how I approached the start! Although, have to say a fair few of the gravel races I have done have started unfortunately hard.
Nope, it’s not a race. There were way too many people this year treating it like it was. I met some lovely people this year but there was also a lack of trail/rider etiquette by people who were out there ‘racing ‘
On the whole I’d say more people of the good etiquette than bad! Wondering if maybe the organisers can split it next year so the earlier ‘waves’ are people pushing themselves for a certain time, and later waves are more relaxed.
@@maddynutt the problem with that is, some people need every minute to make the 200 time cuts, so can't afford to be held back 30 mins so the racers can go off in waves.

what a top man Joe is driving you 🙂 Nice video, thanks for uploading
I’m so envious seeing every one uploading their Dirty Reiver videos! I’m definitely going to apply next year. It looks like such an awesome event.
Definitely a great one to get to :)
Great footage of the event. Liking the helmet tan 😀
It has only got worse as the season has progressed 🤣
I love it,. Gravel, nice video shot Mate,..stay safe,.. Greeting from Indonesia sending my full support here 🤗🔔👍, stay connected, new friend is here 🤝
Cheers for the support ☺️
That was fantastic viewing… well done and very entertaining to watch.. cheers
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Well done. I bailed the 200kms in favour of the 130kms. My body & the weather were not happy!
It was not the day for a very long day in the saddle 🤣
very best of luck this year
Thank you!!
Two things I love about cycling: Gravel & when Maddy uploads :) - Amari
Hahahaah I love this
Hun,,, a good lazzy porridge in the morning is fantastic for the start😉👍

Great video! Well done on a productive weekend. Good luck at Traka 👌🏻
Cheers :)
Just found your channel loved the video🚴🏽♀️👍
Thanks so much! :)
Well done Maddy! I got in the first wave, but you soon came flying past!
Ahaha very lucky! I paid for that speed a lot later aha

Totally agree with this! Dirty Riever last year was pure dust, this year I could barely see through the mud splatter aha.

Absolutely epic place to ride!
Entertaining watch - which gps unit do Ribble use?
I’m supported by Wahoo :)

That’s awesome !! Honestly I am such a newbie and completely learning as I go. Good fun though! :)

Apidura hydration vest :)

Like it, I did it nice weather 🤔well I did ok, but did not eat or drink enough opps next one UCI gravel in May
I'll be there! If I can recover from the traka 360 this weekend aha..!
Good luck on the traka 360
Well this weekend for me more endurance rides
Well done, wish I could do 250 watts for a couple of hours 🙈
I’m not sure how I did to be completely honest aha.
Kielder is *Northumberland*, not Scotland. 😉 But your pronunciation of Hawick is great!
Ahahaha very very north. 🤣

Forehead tan spots - Proper.
