- In this episode of The Debrief, former 22 SAS Trooper Big Phil Campion speaks to PJ Harries.
Born in Essex and moving around a lot in his younger years, PJ began to find himself fighting and getting into trouble, but he always had the military on his mind.
Joining the air cadets aged 15, PJ wanted to be a fast jet pilot, but later his attention turned to the Green Beret’s of the Royal Marines. Pushing to join aged just 16, but persuaded to complete his schooling, PJ joined the Royal Marines at 18. First drafted to 42 Commando, PJ deployed onto Op Cougar before returning to the UK and moving into Landing Craft (LC) Branch at 43 Commando.
Eventually leaving the Corps, PJ delivered hostile environment training around the world before joining the UK Fire & Rescue Service. An injury meant he had some time on his hands, and his apparel company ‘Gibraltar Trading Company’ was born and has gone from strength to strength, securing a strong position in the veteran owned and operated business sector.

I was a pioneer and i tried to retrade to the army air corp but i was too much of a bad lad and wasn't accepted i wish I had stuck in instead of doing what i wanted when i wanted i spent more time in collie than i did at the regiment 😂 funnily though my bad behaviour got me some nice opportunities like doing the boxing, flying a glider and training with the rugby team i regretted that pretty quickly i was always made to hold the scrum pads and i was getting mauled by some 15st fijians 😂 i was only just 10st so i think this was payback from my troop sergeant 😢😂 anyway great interview guys keep up the good work
Some great gear on that site i have a couple of Tshirts
Thanks for watching!
Awrite mate, I just came from the LADbible with Big Phil. Great watch. I am a Scotsman but with Irish heritage. The question I would like to answer to Phil is, was British occupation in Ireland not called terrorism and the Provisional Irish Republican Army called freedom fighters. Why are the Provos called Terrorists when they defend there own land ?
