I love the satisfying sound of a new engine starting up.

Your video is going to help me with my restoration, thanks for sharing.
I am not a motorcyclist but I just bought a parts/cheap Frankenstein bike w/ r60/5 airhead engine, the frame and the engine numbers don’t march. It was seized/locked up with rust on left head cylinder and piston, luckily the right side piston was a t top with no damage.
    Best regards from Oklahoma!

"IT'S ALIVE!". Great to see it firing up Roy. And good to see that Simon and yourself look like you're enjoying yourself doing it. It's what shed time is for.
Look forward the seeing your Beemer in the flesh real soon.
    Nathan.

Thanks Matty, it’s always a good moment when an old engine runs for the first time. Needs more work but great to start getting back to these types of projects..

Hello. You forgot the metal shim under the white o-ring for the oilfilter housing. Cheers Oliver

Hi mate, I did read some bikes have that shim. I didn’t buy one as I couldn’t see any benefit from having it there. Is there a reason it’s used in some bikes and what does this shim do?

The metal shim prevents that the o-ring is getting chrushed because of the sharp edge of the metal liner underneath. Maybe you are lucky maybe not. Good luck! Cheers.

Hi man! Greetings from Indonesia!.Quick story, i just found my uncle R65GS couple days ago and i just start doing restoration for the bike yesterday. And do you have email or instagram ? I want to ask an expert like you to add more knowldege for me to understand the bike and also i really want to check everything about my bike, if you don’t mind 😁, i also can send you the picture, its confusing because we lost all the papers and we tried to guess from what year is this bike come from 😅 it has R100Gs front body but the sticker plates inside said its a R65 gs , im really lost right now. If you don’t mind , cause i need some experts to let me know about this old bike 😅.
