I told you before Peter you are an old soul, using a hand plane and a design ethic of Piet Mondrian, wow you are now officially in MY BOOK the “inteligencia” of Woodworking RUclips. Obviously a very well read young man. Delivery and execution as always excellent.
Thanks David! Not sure about an old soul, just an old bloke, lol! 👍👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop love it 😊
Those are seriously stylish. Some swanky office designer would be knocking your doors down for a reception remodel with those. I like the top ones, it's like a digital representation of bamboo!
Thanks! 👍
The End grain ones are very hypnotic
Omg you are not a woodworker but a magician, brilliant technics Peter 👍
Thank you! 👍
Torn between the top “end-grain” and the bottom Mondrian fronts. Lovey ideas.
Thank you! 👍
I'm always bowled over by the results that can be achieved with the creative use of plywood, beautiful work Peter, thank you :)
Thank you! 👍
Wow Peter, you have actually out IKEA'd IKEA!
😂 Well, I tried! 👍
I like the Mondriaan style, but also the two other styles !
Yes, Mondiaan is my personal favourite. 👍
I think there are really nice. Love the looks and I'm going to play with the process you used. Thanks for a super video. Keep them coming
Thanks Thomas! 🙌👍
Hi Peter, great stuff - wonderful work every time in this little workshop. I enjoy your chanel.
Thank you! 👍
Well done Peter, they look great !
Thanks Calvin! 👍
Reminds me of cutting scarf joints to join sheets of ply in one of my boat build projects. Good stuff.
👌👍
Nicely done. Great idea, very eye catching.
Awesome functional but stylish aesthetic
Thanks! 👍
Thumbs up on the Mondriaan style fronts.
👍
My apologies to the artist, but it is Mondriaan style.
Nice job Peter 👍🏻
Now that is what i like, great video Pete
Thanks Steve! 👍
They look really nice. Gives me a couple of ideas...
Thanks! 👍
Great result Peter👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎
Thanks Alan! 🙌👍
Hi Peter,
What you have just done with bits of birch ply is bloody genius. Mondrian would be proud of you. 👍🙌. Maybe you should do more vids on this as really interesting what can be done. 🍻
Thanks Mark! Oh, there’ll be plenty more Mondrian-inspired stuff to come! 👍👍😆
Nice video. Very stylish box fronts...shades of Michael Alm and some of his decorative plywood endgrain projects.
Yes, I know Michael’s channel, he does great work and we’ve chatted on Instagram. I did my first end-grain patterned plywood a few years back, big fan. 👍👍
Like the tiger stripes and the others too Peter👍
Cheers Craig! 👍
Really enjoyed that video, Peter - thank you. Best of luck with the teeth - looking forward to seeing the new 'showbiz' bright white gnashers when you return?!
Thanks, and no, not quite that! 👍
Those are lovely, my favourite is the dead pixels, you're so right about how those little differences make it much better.
Thank you! 🙌
I think the "tiger's eye" looks good! The knots and defects add character.
Thanks! 👍
it reminds me of an old cabin in the woods. would probably make a cool mancave style unit out of it.
They are “defects”! I’m sure there’s a Japanese technique with a name for this!
Wow, never did I think I'd see one video made from recycled wood on here, let alone 2! 😁😁 But I like the variations on the drawer fronts, as you say it makes it more of a focal point
Surprised me James, tbh! 😂
A nice little build.
And those fronts are indeed fancy. Nice way to show how you can tart things up.
👍
I think it turned out really nice
Thanks! 👍
They look great. Nice ideas
Thank you! 😊
Nice work Peter
Thanks Glyn! 👍
That birch ply is so much more superior than std ply or some of the far eastern ply, no empty pockets or full of filler.
I notice some difference between the mdf that you use across videos? The green is moisture resistant, but i’m not sure about the one that looks layered. is that just a different manufacturer of MR mdf?
The zebra/tiger stripes look great btw, excellent job as always.
Brilliant! Looks fantastic.
Thanks! 👍
Already a subscriber and a fan and suddenly noticed you also have tools from Mirock! made me appreciate your videos even more :)
Thanks! I’m a big fan of Vlads work! 👍
Nice job Peter
Thanks Ian! 👍
Turned out well !, nice job
Thanks! 👍
Interesting project may have to make some I wish you good luck with the dentist cheers Peter 👍👍🇦🇺
Thanks! 👍
Great stuff thanks Peter, stay safe
Cheers Paul! 👍
I always love a good ikea hack
Very creative and a good concept well executed.😀👍
Thanks Norman! 👍
Nice work. A LOT OF WORK.
Thanks! And yes, lots! 👍
A work of art Mr M! Should be in the design museum as an example of repurposing and recycling. People are going to be begging you to take their commissions.
Thanks! And that’ll be the day! 😂👍
I am amazed at the results you were able to achieve with plywood. Gorgeous! I'm determined to try some form of this myself. But we'll see. Always learn something new from your videos, Thanks!
They're bloody lovely! Cracking job as always!
Thanks Gareth! 👍
Brilliant work!!
Thank you! 👍
Just got round too seeing this, love these draw fronts Pete, enjoyed following tge stories on ig 👍
Thanks Dan! Enjoyed doing these - there’ll be some more to come, for sure! 👍👍
Really impressed by this.😀😀👏🏼😀😀
Thanks! 👍
Nice to see something good come out of Ikea units that will no doubt be coming to the end of their lives in big numbers soon and otherwise heading for local skips. Thank you.
Awesome job, love they way you casually slap the pieces together with a bit of glue and air nailer and wind up with art. Typical Peter Miller!
Haha, thank you! 🙌👍
Another great video Peter. I really like the Mondrian style panel and the way you constructed the design. Very good!
Thanks Dawn! 👍
It looks super cool! Great example of upcycling materials.
Also it is a nice change of pace from the pallet project mayhem that has laid waste to YT in the past.
Cheers!
Thanks! Old IKEA shelves are the new palletwood! 👍 😂
@@10MinuteWorkshop Haha! I reckon anything is better than pallet furniture at this point :D
These drawer fronts are really cool!
Thanks! 👍
Had to smile as I was looking at 6 uprights and about 12 of the exact same IKEA shelf units surplus to requirements in my shed this moning and wondering what they might be used for. Love the Mondrian idea - the wallpaper background on my PC is a Mondrian design to locate different groups of program icons. Off now to hunt through the plywood offcuts!
👍
Really interesting video. Nice work.
Thanks! 👍
Excellent way to use up wood scraps and the fronts look great.
Thank you! 👍
Wow. Thank you. That was an interesting objective. I never thought to accent such a feature. I really love this technique.
Thank you! 👍
good luck on the dentistry...enjoy your craftsmanship.
Thanks! 😬👍
Beautiful pattern on the Front - Excellent work Peter!
Thanks Christoph! 👍
hi peter
outstanding as usual from waste to a great item now thats what i call upcycling
the plywood fronts looks fantastic you should be proud of your work with them
regards
james o connell
Thanks James! 👍
Really nice interesting drawer fronts without spending a huge amount
Michael Alm does some pretty interesting designs with plywood end grain.
Lovely project though
Yes, I know Michael’s channel, we’ve chatted on Instagram. 👍
Really like the end results. Inspirational. Thanks!
Great job Pete, Stay Safe & have a nice day !!!.
Thanks Brian, you too! 👍
Top tip: for a strong joint, it helps to add some nails in the nailer... who knew!? 9:25
What a great idea they turned out amazing
Thank you! 👍
They look great. Nice to see what can be done with a set of old shelves.
Thanks! 👍
Wow! That looks amazing Peter 👍. I'm glad I've been saving all those ply offcuts, I've got to try this at some point, very inspiring.
Go for it! And thanks - let me know how you get on! 👍
I love seeing these "alternative" plywood looks! Very neat stuff. I don't get to spend a ton of time in my shop so I really do try to learn something with each project if I can. Shop furniture seems like the perfect opportunity to experiment!
Exactly! And thanks! 👍
Nice result. Certainly beats churning out painted mdf wardrobes.
Thanks! And sure does! 👍👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop One day I'm hoping to give it up, too.
Nice one, Peter! Really like the drawer fronts. Best aye.
Thanks Alasdair! 👍
You just never cease to amaze me, Pete. Very well done, thank you!
Wow, thank you! 😆 👍
Great use of off-cuts and the unwanted, and a bit of art for art’s sake thrown in for good measure👍
Thanks! 👍
I have a big pile of Ikea bed slates, and two crates on wheels to make.
I'm inspired.
Nice! 👍
Artistry! I really like the end grain fronts, it does look like static on a computer screen or old television, and it would not look the same if you ran it horizontally. That scrolling effect is great.
These are so stylish I love them, I'm going to use these techniques when I make a new unit for my home Peter the drawers are so cool.
Cheers Karl! 👍👍
Thanks, Peter. Due to COVID it's been a long time since I've entered an Ikea store. I was envisioning shelves made of MDF. I had forgotten that Ikea uses real, solid wood for some items.
These are 20-odd years old - positively vintage IKEA! 😂👍
Lovely seeing you experimenting. And thank you for making it look within reach for a newby.
Good luck with the dentistry.
Thank you! 👍
For the Americans, ‘Greaseproof’ = ‘Parchment’ paper.
They are beautiful pieces, absolutely defying their intent and origins. Your old interior designer client might be after you for more!
Thanks Frank! 👍
Hi Peter. Very good use of spare shelves. Hope the dentistry next week goes ok.
Thanks Gaz! 👍
You have a Dentists appointment!!! 😵 There harder to get than Doctors appointments! I've no idea what my Doctor or Dentist looks like. 😱 Nice drawers btw. 👍 😝
👍
Very nice. I have seriously enjoyed your process from start to finish in creating this wall organization. Personally I love the "Tyger Stripes" best, and the end-grain secondly. But everything is magnificently done. Thank you.
Thank you, much appreciated. 👍
Thanks so much Peter. It looks like a real piece of art.
Thank you! 🙌👍
Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing. I have many of these IKEA shelves. Some of them are serving me for more than 20 years already. I started to copy the first version when IKEA decided to change the design a little bit. Thinner materials. That wasn't their best move. But I've never thought of taking them apart. In fact, I should make
some more of them. The zebra front is very interesting. I didn't understand exactly how you did that, so that part of the video I'll watch again (and again and again and again) just until my old brains start to understand what you were doing to achieve this look.
Thanks Hans! I bought these IKEA shelves when I had my photo studio in the early 90s, so certainly 20-odd years old. 👍👍
Un opera d’arte, Mondriaan style or Japanese style you name it, the results are fantastic👍👍
Brilliant job
Thanks! 👍
Great result Peter, very arty for a workshop.... Love the hidden city skyline on the top of the unit, where's the shard?
The Shard takes longer! 😂 And thanks! 👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop incorporate "book-matched" endgrain of some flat sawn planks?
That total edge grain front is stunning! A good 15 years ago a fellow built a dobsonian telescope and he routed in bevels into the plywood to create carrying/grab edges and other visual details. It turned out really good (makes me wonder what became of him and his telescope).
Quality piece of content as every. Great vision, creativity and presentation. Thanks
Thanks Andrew! 👍
This was a great project! Gives me ideas for so many other things. Thanks for sharing.
Jolly good show.
Thats a great idea. Really like the look of those
Thanks! 👍
Really neat!!
Thank you! Cheers!👍
GREAT video Peter. Funny too. "Wot? No nails?"
Keep 'er lit Bro!
😂👍
Massively interesting and I love the look. Thanks for the great videos you send out👍
Thank you! 👍
Really like them
Thanks!
nicely done, love the concept, i am also inspired on how much you can do with the tracksaw instead of the tablesaw.
Thank you! 👍
I love those end grain fronts, I can imagine them larger, perhaps on a sideboard 👍
Yep. Give it a week or two, Michael Alm will be making a boat out of it. 👍
@@10MinuteWorkshop and it'll be a lovely boat in sure 😄
Tidy. Nice one!
Thanks! 👍
Hi Peter
What a great idea mate, love the end result they look the dogs bo!!ocks 👍👍👍👍 good luck with the dentist 🦷
Thanks Carl! 👍
these look awesome, nice work peter. bringing out your creative side. you'll be wearing a beret next week. 🤣
It’s what I aspire to! 😂 And thanks! 👍
