Original 2018 Honda Clarity Touring owner here. The Clarity is an amazing vehicle. I absolutely love mine, and refuse to get rid of it. I will drive mine until the wheels fall off. The reason for the small gas tank. Honda used the chassis for 3 different versions of the Clarity. Hydrogen, Pure EV (90 miles of range) and PHEV version. The first two models were mainly sold in California and maybe Oregon, whereas the PHEV version was sold in all 50 States. If I could have one wish - it would be for Honda to have continued development on the Clarity. It could have been so much more! I think production was stopped in '21 and only 22,000 Clarities were sold in total.
Got my own '21 Clarity Touring 6 mo ago. Coming from a '06 SUV, I absolutely love it as a daily driver. My commute to and from work totals around 55 miles, so I still end up using the HV mode a bit, but even then, my (tiny 7gal) tank of fuel still ends up lasting quite a while. And it's less than $25 to refill! I do wish there was a bit more storage space in the back though, that battery hump makes it difficult sometimes to fit larger things in the trunk. Another minor gripe is the dated infotainment system. I wish it was similar to the one in the '22 Insight.
Yeah I never really think much about the trunk space being bigger. My thinking, tbh, is if it’s bigger than the Z3’s, that’s good lol. But for the infotainment, I actually like it more than the modern one as long as it runs as smooth and fast which it’s a little laggy here and there but I still like it
