    I still love how the British Olympic Committee is in effect older than the modern games, with the national Olympian association in 1865

    Those fillies in the archery are rather dashing. Would like to see Tug of War restored for the 2028 Games. Also, Egg & Spoon Race.

    This is stagerring to me in so many areas. (also amazing how they can now improve the video frame rate on very old footage).
    The Pole vault, high jump and long jump had no soft landing areas, so very impressive considering. The discus and hammer techniques haven't changed too much.

    The London 1908 marathon started at Windsor castle and finished in white city. The actual marathon distance was extended by an extra 2 miles, so Queen Alexandra could view the start from her window over looking the lawn in Windsor castle.

      There's footage of them charging down Windsor Castle Hill at breakneck speed, or so it seems.
      No wonder they were on hands and knees by the end.
      There is now a Dorando Close at White City. I asked a couple of residents once if they knew why it was so called?
      "Haven't got a clue, mate..."

      I wrote a term paper about the 1908 London Olympics for a university history course on Edwardian England. Attendance at the Games was disappointing in the first few days. It picked up at the end, however.
