I got over 100 then the wife asked me a question. I kept counting, then after about 30 seconds she yelled at me for ignoring her. So, I lost count. I ain't going back and counting again. I say there was a boo coo of 'em though. Cheers, Dan
Great vid! Love Point of Rocks for location. Impressive train length, but even more impressive that it's being hustled along by three lead units without DPUs. As a side note, it's a pity the MP36 wasn't suitable for long-run passenger - it looks so much nicer than the disgraceful Genesis units (a hyperventilating shoebox wearing high-water pants). Thanks, Brian!
I didn’t count but all those counters were close in their counts ! My friend Astrogater caught a train yesterday that was 209 Cars long, he put on YT today, he is a fan of yours as well :-)) Point of Rocks is a great place to railfan at, thanks for sharing your views !
Hi Jawtooth Thank you for another awesome video. I counted 181 cars and 3 engines (plus no DPU's). Hopefully I am right. Keep making awesome videos. Bye

MARC the people that run the commuter train in your picture really don't understand trains, example the cars in question. They were clearly built for high level platforms that will not exist on the CSX railroad, Virginia Railway Express (VRE), that operates a similar service into the DC Virginia burbs, uses similar cars but has middle car doors at the lower level, this makes exiting at stations without platforms much easier and faster and makes handicapped access easier as well. Freight railroads will not allow high level platforms on main lines since freight cars 'sway' and can bump into the platform damaging both, the Amtrak lines out of DC operated by MARC are almost all passenger so that this is not a problem, fast Amtrak trains on the corridor, operate on the center track(s) to avoid sucking the commuters off the platform. VRE has cemented better relations with the railroad by building or assisting in building passing tracks and with regulatory issues, MARC doesn't seem to understand that being friendly can help them in the long run.
I have been to Point of Rocks before, Seen CSX trains, I have seen the Amtrak Capitol Limited P029 as well through there!
👍 Thumbs up 👍as always, thanks! 👍

In the description it says that the double stack is heading to Baltimore, I must inform you that is incorrect. That train was bound for Portsmouth, VA

You should find a GO rail railway
I agree! They are great trains and I love catching them too. :-D
If you're still in Maryland I'd love to hang out, let me know

i counted 178 wagons but maybe not!
186 cars total
That was 177.
I counted 177 cars not including locomotives.
over 3 miles long a mile is 62 cars
No, 62 cars would be less than a mile long unless they were all auto racks
I counted 197 cars !!!!!!!!
there was 177 cars
I counted 178 + or minus
178
I get 173
