This is an excellent rendering of Arabhi varna by Prof Janakiraman. Really great, you will be taken to emotional heights. If you wish to skip the introduction, you can start listening from 2.00 minutes at which Professor starts singing the varnam. The violinist (we do not know who is this), is also excellent and has given a wonderful unique support to Prof Janakiraman. God bless all of them for giving an excellent arabhi varnam to listeners.
A rare varnam and i love this ragam! Some time ago i read a book in telugu, it says the original name is Rishibi, further changed to aarshabhi then to Aarabhi. (it was called rishibi as it it a raga merely made of the Rishiaba (Ri) combinations with other notes... Pleasing to listen...
A free flowing arabhi akin to the rapids. Beautiful music
