Another wonderfully sunny day in beautiful Ireland! The lady driver that you saw changing ends at Killarney would have been the lovely Theresa from Tralee. Shame you didn't have time for a quick chat with her while waiting for the up train at Rathmore....she's great craic and very friendly. Maybe you should try and interview some of the other drivers? I did a similar trip back in October! After landing at Dublin (from Boston), I took the bus right to Heuston and boarded the train for Cork. I stayed with relatives in Cork though and rented a car and drove to Killarney, and visited Ross Castle (utterly fascinating), and then strolled around Ross Island (utterly beautiful)! Iarnrod Eireann has a great product and does a pretty good job. My only complaint was that the windows on the train were fairly dirty, which distorted the view of the lovely Irish countryside visible from the train. I am so glad to see you guys went there!
Just binge-watched the first four episodes - the best hour I have spent in a long time. Massively informative and entertaining, and Vicky is still as cute as a button. Carry on, and have a nice journey!
I also want to add that I'm pretty sure Barry Kenny and the Iarnród Éireann folks will also be delighted. Nerd alert! There are two loco hauled sets on the network, the Mark iv sets that you traveled on the Dublin Cork line with the blue tint and the Enterprise Rail service between Dublin and Belfast which us coaches made by French manufacturer De Deitrich. Same type of loco hauls both.
Fun fact 8:38 Millstreet hosted the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest. At the time it was the largest and most difficult outside broadcast for the national broadcaster RTE at the time, but it worked.
aquasmashau It is also the Eurovision host location with the smallest population, at 1500 people at the time! 1993 was a great Eurovision Song Contest in terms of both songs and production quality.

I was living in Tralee back in 2017 and watching 'All The Stations' UK and now there you are. I and yourselves have somehow come full circle, a great episode.
It was an old joke among hitchhikers years ago that Ireland was the impossible dream, because outside of Dublin nobody is in a rush to go anywhere and you probably aren't getting a lift of more than about 5 miles at a time.
Fabulous work, Envious, but not at all blaming. You really do deserve all your personal enjoyment of the travelling in this magnificent series..(Well done VT ED, love the demon colour correction ...)

sorry to say sham but there are no official railways in Donegal so there's a good chance you won't get to see Donegal at all sadly. hope u enjoy the rest of the place though.

They used to have the lit up journey tracker on the darts until they broke/the trains were replaced. Also I can't believe you didn't show the burnt out car graveyard/field you can see when passing through Clondalkin. Saw at least 10 the last time I train this route
Can I just say well done to whoever it was that you got to do your intro jingle for All the Stations because if you analyse it closely it does sound a little bit like you might expect a train to sound on the tracks but at the same time is jazzy and lively and modern. 👏👍🤝
*Millstreet* Station is the closest station to the Green Glens Equestrian Centre, which held the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest (which was exactly 27 years to the day of me writing this comment) - which is the only Eurovision to be held in Ireland but not in Dublin, instead going for a town which had at the time a population of only 1500, hence the smallest population ever of a ESC host ‘city’. As a result of this event, the station [along with the majority of the facilities in the town] needed to be upgraded - the station previously only had one-platform but during the time had another platform built so more services could stop at the station. Particularly to the benefit of delegations, visitors and RTÉ filming crew.
Hi Vicky and Geoff, I've watched your London stuff for years and I was delighted to hear that you were coming to Ireland. Like many of the other commenters I binge watched the first 4 episodes and I have to say they are fantastic. Great view of Ireland, it brings back a lot of memories of the trip my late partner and I did in 1995 or 96 ( I forget the exact year) He was Irish and his family lived near Newry. The new trains look very comfortable ( though they weren’t bad when we went over) you used to be able to get a good breakfast in the dining cars on nearly all the long distance trains, and there was an excellent restaurant at Houston Station, all run by IR,s own catering section.
That might have been true a year ago sadly creators cannot earn enough from some of the excellent work they do. tv would pay them enough of a return possibly to pay for the adventure without these great guys having to go for crowd funding.
Entering Cork.. Where all my Mums side of the family is based.. Awesome stuff so far.. Being half Irish and use to visit every year it brings back good memories :)
I made the trip in 1964. The latest trains then were the Cravens stock. It was full of nuns with white wing caps. The boat train on the way back to Rosslare had a buffet car from about 1905.
Vicki & Geoff are brilliant, as ever - delighted to see them in Ireland. The illuminated route map is a handy gadget all right - but there's a reason they don't have them in Britain: they actually have rolling stock that gets used on more than one route - gasp! They only serve Barry's Tea because BARRY'S TEA IS THE BEST! Interesting (tea) fact: Dublin and Cork are the two biggest cities in Ireland, and there's a great rivalry between them. This extends far past sports teams, and goes as far as tea. Lyons Tea was started and is stilled based in Dublin. Barry's is from Cork. So which side you're on in the great Dublin vs. Cork war may well influence your tea preference. There's a similar thing with stout, with Guinness being the Dublin brand, and Murphys being the Cork brand.
Well, Belfast is actually the second biggest city in Ireland - the population is almost 3 times greater than Cork - but I agree with your thoughts on Barry's Tea. Best tea in Ireland.
Very enjoyable episode again. Barry's Tea eh? I will try to track some down (under) here in Oz.. In the meantime, instead of my normal brew of Twinings English Breakfast, Extra Strong, I will be sampling Twinings Irish Breakfast, for the next coupla weeks, as you explore the Emerald Isle. Cheers to you both. Tea cup clinks!
very cool to see you around cork and kerry. mallow is my local station and i know the line to dublin and the line to tralee/killarney super well. glad that you got to see ross castle in the lovely weather!!
We should keep a tally of "Random Irish interactions" for this trip. We've had the "You guys are everywhere" girl and the guy waving at the camera in the last video, and the "waving Irish girl" in this one.
When I used Limerick Junction, going between Dublin and Limerick, some time in mid 1960s it was a case of mind the drop. The platforms were at rail level. Auld Davy
Ah all my haunts, was in Tralee Thursday too. Hope you've not been to Cork yet, I'll be waving. Don't forget to go to Cobh and the Titanic experience, oh and there's a castle in Blarney.... 😂
Very interesting video! Did you see the other station in Tralee at the sadly now closed Tralee & Blennerville Railway? On you way from Dublin to Mallow you passed through Monasterevin, are you doing that one on the way back from Galway as that's an awkward station!

Great memories of a week in Killarney National Park. Yeah Ross Castle
4.13 that’s a new one on me - Aeroplane -style location display.
Trains and Castles, what's not to like. :)
Thanx for another great video! The footage that Vicki appear in is far better to watch, as it is easier on the eye...
very cool to see you around cork and kerry. mallow is my local station and i know the line to dublin and the line to tralee/killarney super well. glad that you got to see ross castle in the lovely weather!!
5:28 She seemed happy to see you, do you know her or was she just walking by?
A Mystery woman?
We should keep a tally of "Random Irish interactions" for this trip. We've had the "You guys are everywhere" girl and the guy waving at the camera in the last video, and the "waving Irish girl" in this one.
Watched...liked...tick.
When I used Limerick Junction, going between Dublin and Limerick, some time in mid 1960s it was a case of mind the drop. The platforms were at rail level.
Auld Davy
Geoff is the real rose of tralee
My unbiased opinion is Barry’s tea is best.
They also had Barry's Tea in the movie "Northwest Frontier" which also took place on a train.
Ah all my haunts, was in Tralee Thursday too. Hope you've not been to Cork yet, I'll be waving. Don't forget to go to Cobh and the Titanic experience, oh and there's a castle in Blarney.... 😂
OK, now Geoff is the cutest. :-D
Or is he the quaintst?
The big loco hauled train you were on was a bit like the dining train “Gerald of Wales “in at Cardiff central
Very interesting video! Did you see the other station in Tralee at the sadly now closed Tralee & Blennerville Railway? On you way from Dublin to Mallow you passed through Monasterevin, are you doing that one on the way back from Galway as that's an awkward station!
