Had my new gs-travel mahogany for a few days now and apart from a few sharp frets which I sorted I love it. Never mind a "travel" guitar it's the perfect sofa guitar.
Must of read my mind I started over the weekend obsessing and researching a travel type guitar hoping the bday fairy brings me one on he 22nd. Love the look of the 2 gs travels
The GS Mahogony and Delta are my faves. Both sound a bit more "old school guitar from the 30s" kinda vibe. Might go with the Delta because its even smaller than the GS series
I wish they'd published this earlier - I ordered the mahogany GS Travel the day before it was published. After hearing all the models, now I'm not so sure. The only other one I would pick is the CLGS 10. I think the CLGS 10 has a brighter tone with more clarity and articulation, but the mahogany has a warmth and roundness. I hope I've made the right decision...
Isn't that CLGS buzzing quite a bit?Is it something to be expected from this specific model? The other GSes seem not affected, although I like the richer sound of the CLGS best...
Yay, have been waiting so long for this video, nice comparison! I have the GS mahogany for almost a year now and I love it. Great warm tone and so much sound for such a small body. Very comfortable to play as well. I can recommend this to anyone and I use it as my main guitar. 😊
Can any one tell me please how I go about ordering one please the Harley Benton Mahogany Travel guitar please does anyone know thankyou so much ? Gary !
Gs mohogany but i have questions mostly the finish looks thin. Is it? Also is the top composit or solid? I dont want to spend a lot on a guitar that will be unattended in a tent or on a riverbank but i do want as good a sound as can be had in that low price
i dont know why they sell more Mahogany than the spruce one !?!? i bought the Mahogany but had some issues and i sent it back, but they doesnt have it in stock so i got the spruce GS, and shittttttt it sopund way way way better than the Mahogany one, the sound is brighter and rounded .
Hey could you guys put together something that explains the naming? Looking at descriptions it’s not obvious to me. Cld 10,16,28,40,41 and I’m sure I’m missing some.
I have the original one that I purchased 4 years ago. It's ok for the price but it has its issues. I've had one tuner break and when I opened it I noticed that the metal is really cheap/weak. It's also very hard to fine tune it and the intonation and fretwork isn't the best. Still, it's better than my 250 euro guitar so I can't complain too much.
Somebody has compared the CLGS with a Gretsch Jim Dandy? Looking for an affordable travel guitar. I have tried the Gretsch and I don’t like it (sound and too near strings on the nut). I tried too the Martin DJR and it’s completely awesome (but not cheap at all)
To me, that GS-Travel Mahogany sounds as dull as the one I have at home (well, mine sounds worse as I am a terrible player). Wish I had known about the CLGS-10 when I ordered it, only 30€ more but a whole other level. Well, at least I didn't choose the Delta Blues T, from what I hear in the video, it's atrocious.
Love my GS-Travel Mahogany even though it needed some work. Besides a setup and fret refinement (which is to be expected and totally normal imho at that price point) it wasn't the most stable guitar, I installed a JLD Bridge Doctor (Does not cost much) to reinforce the instrument after two years of use and upgraded the tuners with some better ones from my used parts bin. And it's still worth it all the way because it simply sounds and plays better than any other small body guitar in the price range under 500 bucks, and I have tried basically every option myself. That day at Thomann I first didn't even want to try the cheap-ass GS-Travel but when I did it blew me away. So yeah it ma need some love, it's not perfect, but it's a pretty damn fun guitar.
I really dig mine Traveller Spruce. Not only nice sounding, extremely comfortable acoustic guitar, but also awesome recording tool with piezo plugged into Helix wit some acoustic IRs. Tuners are crap though :D
Just bought. The Mahogany version. Apart from the strings its great ! What strings are recommended ? I was thinking of putting some medium gauge Monels on it.
@@anthonylynchmusic Does the 13 take away the bending ability? I am thinking about getting this and adding 11 or 12 max due to wanting easy to bend experience. Thanks!
@@AxemanMessiah if you bend a lot 12 would still by very playable, with 13 it starts to get harder to play, but still nothing comparable to a standard size Guitar
Can't decide between the GS Travel Mahogany and the CLP-15M...I'm not concerned about the price, but I cannot tell if the CLP has a more "twangy" sound than the GS Travel. I don't like the twangy sound and I'd like to play some strumming too. I would choose the one with the richer sound. The longer scale on the CLP could be my choose but maybe the GS Travel has a larger body and sound...Could someone explain the difference to me? (I would play without pickups). Does the higher price of CLP depends on its 'blues features" and better/vintage aesthetics?
*HB GS travel (spuruce-mahogany) .. why does this guitar have only 2 (two) colors ? 🤔🤔 it should be in the blueburst and sunburst models,it looks great on this guitar.. ... . .
The gs e mahogany is not that small either... and yes its sound is incredible... maybe strings must be changed for lighter ones... as bar chords are hard to do with original strings... (Cheap HB ones I guess)
I own the delta blues T. It's awful, the action when it arrived was over 5mm at the last fret, the frets are all scratched and it's completely impossible to intonate. Shocking quality.
Paul Bowden my Gs travel mahogany was the same and frets sticking out, also buzzing which you can hear the same at the end of video when he is strumming. Not impressed I might send it back.
Harley Benton TY I emailed them several days ago but have not received any response. I can do a return but would maybe want to exchange it for maybe a different model or even the same one. I will maybe call them.
i just ordered the mahogany gs-e... although from watching this the spruce sounds brighter... no prob... just what i want a little ringy toy to amuse myself..leave in the car.. lets grankids play it etc.... can you please brush your hair in future it looks messy... the grunge days are long gone....lol....
Why is it that the quality cheap guitars ALWAYS have the most ugly headstocks? I'd 100% buy this guitar but the headstock is so terrible looking that I just can't.
the headstock style that's on that mahogany GS one is very attractive to me, looks unique. Each to their own I suppose. To answer your question I'd guess company's own the rights to certain shapes, so they alter the shape for copyright reasons
I like the sound of the GS-Travel Spruce best ;o
I purchased the GS Travel Mahagony E and I am very pleased with the size, feel, and the amount of sound that rings out of this smaller guitar.
Really i will buy one lefthanded version
They all look and sound better then the one I “borrowed” from school back in the days 🤣..
to my Ears and Imagination of tone: the GS-Travel Mahagony sounds best - well - Sound is always a personal thing ;)
Yep, exatly! And sound is just one half of the guitar. The feel is just as important!
@@HarleyBentonOfficial does it have a solid mahogany top like the clgs?
@@TheTruth70777 no all the GS ones have all laminate construction.

I like the the Delta Blue. It has almost a resonator sound.

Hi Ian, we think you made a good choice with the GS-10 Mahogany. :)
I'd love to see a custom line 10s in a mini dread shape.
the delta blues looks so damn good, and its only 70 euros
i mean, sooner or later i'll get it, no doubt
I liked the blue one the best. 💙

So do I, I even record my video with the gs travel!
Would you recommend it to a beginner with tiny hands?
@@RbeccApricusfor sure! It has a regular nut with and bit shorter scale length, which makes it very comfortable to play.

Best thing is that they come with a gigbag :)
