The choice to break the 4th wall was brilliant. Those scenes brought levity and a fresh look on what was being discussed. I couldn't imagine the movie with out those scenes.
I agree, my only problem with it was the part in JP morgan where the 2 guys find out about the bubble. That one kinda felt a little lazy imo
What a turning point for the extra who was pulled out. He was fantastic in this scene!
Fun fact
Guy who played Gunther on FRIENDS was also extra who got finalized at last minute bcoz he was only who could operate coffee machine
@@superjoshi6654 I agree, The extra added lots to this scene. amazed to learn he was an extra
Yeah they had brilliant chemistry lol
The acting in this movie is so underrated - this move should have won many, many awards - so well crafted from the book.
For me in this scene a couple of things stand out.....gosling almost shouting "my quantitative!".....and Carell when we he sort of gasps and gestures in disbelief then says "say that again".
Oh and of course gosling to vinny "thats a nice shirt do they make one for men?"......
Brilliant film.
The best thing about this movie is that they told the whole story using terms anyone could understand. Margin Call was great also, but they kept it too technical for many people.
That extra guy is my favorite thing in this scene
The extra was awesome in this scene!! Such an awesome contrast to Ryan's character! Love it!!
adam mckay seems a pretty down to earth sensible guy
cool
nice
sweet
Narly
Tubular.
This is just one great scene. Great acing, great dialogue and humor. Always at the tipping point, but never falling into a cliché.
This movie is really great.
I think the show don't tell is an excellent rule that has to be broken when a movie is about something so complicated like politics in 'House of Cards' and the housing crisis in 'The Big Short'.
Incredible production design
Great film
My favorite scene maybe ever!
Every time mortgage to rebuild is twice the original. Equity fund.
Oro Puro.
When he says "my quant" and the other guy says "that's racist"
I don't think it's racist, it's not racism if you're complimenting a race.
The message was just that "Yang" was good at maths (altho he allegedly doesn't speak English, that wouldn't have mattered).
And it turns out that "Jiang" does perfectly so it really didn't matter.
I lost enough money to retire when that Jenga tower fell over. Still working to make it back. Bernie in 2016.
***** Know why "Socialism" and "Communism" are spelled differently? Because they're two completely different things!
@Deadspace2iscool
"No offense" but our capitalist system has socialist characteristics: Police, Schools, homeless shelters, hospitals, firefighters, etc. Just because a whole system is bad doesn't mean specific things of it are.
Yeah I don't think college should be free, but on the other hand it should be much cheaper. We waste trillions on Wars with little to no benefit, yet put about 2% into science and research, 1% in energy and environment, and a measly 2-3% on education.
Heads up, our way isn't great either. In concept it is, but it's vulnerable to corruption and toxic agenda.
Covered a couple things we don't know or can't tell from the scene. Thank you NY Times. But next time don't call it Anatomy of a scene when the directors covering stuff you can already tell from the film. Reason infinity media has a long way to go.
the tower is wrong / does not make sense.
the A should be at the base
and the B on the top.
They are trying to show the “shiny penny” at the top, not the ugly fraud at the bottom.
