I am a middle aged jazz musician and I am just astonished by this piece. The level of sophistication in the rhythm, chord progression, syncopation and melody rivals anything in the most complex forms of jazz fusion. And she's what, 24?
Yeah... And the MV is full of meaning as well. It's unbelievable how incredible she is at such a young age. "anima" is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life.

現代音楽に仄かなフレンチポップの香り漂い、心地良いピコピコ音がDAOKOさんの声質の魅力を最大限に引き出してる。そして3:20からのリズミカルなパートの中毒性。。網守さん凄すぎるよ。。令和の日本音楽シーンの最先端を行ってるよ。。。

This age is weird. You put effort and make something genuinely interesting but people seem to ignore it. You make the same thing as somebody else with no though put into it and people love it.
I like anima because it is a really interesting song to listen to. Don't change! Also the MV is trippy af, I love it.
What you described has been going on for literal centuries by this point. This is a genuinely good song but its abstract nature is probably too much for most people, they need at least some familiarity to enjoy it. This song is so experimental all familiarity has gone out the window and therefore people have nothing to get attached to. It truly is a shame because it is a great song but it's the truth.

It's really cool when you're following Daoko for a really long time by now. The huge difference between Hyper Girl and Anima is absolutely gigantic yet the music hasn't lost it's quality.

It's great seeing Daoko return to the more avant garde hip-hop roots of her early indie albums. Not that I disliked the last few albums-- I enjoyed them a lot. But this is like a return to that, with a little Dragalia Lost sprinkled in. Excited to see where this goes
