In your example with return you said he had a dragon mode out so you didn't want to use davis and Ken. But the return option also triggers dragon mode though so using that to Evo into paildramon he could have then used his dragon to go into fighter?
So just hear me out ... BT17 Davis & Ken. Try it. There's actually tamer hate in this meta and it has continuous effects that makes them have to choose. It also let's you save sources and blitz if you somehow don't keep turn.
You actually cheated on your match if your opponent had dragon mode in his side of the field with a tamer and you move up your lvl 4 from raising and then use return of the primogenitor to digivolve your lvl into paildramon thats digivolving by an effect so it dragon mode was live unless it had less sources than your digimon
Congrats on the win! how are you feeling about running no removal options? I've been liking the one of giga death that gets me out of a jam when I can't climb into it the bt12 fightermode or if there's a stack that isn't affected by digi effects.

I def wanted to run at least one removal but the space is sooo tight and tbh dragonmode/fightermode have enough control on the board as it is.
Imperial has come a long way and it is an absolute monster now!
