I turned 30 in January and I'd been the "I'm waiting until I find that perfect tattoo! It has to have meaning!!" girl for so long already (I've been pierced multiple times and got my tongue split for my 18th birthday), and April this year I came across an Instagram ad of an artist's work... DMed him practically right away, and a month later we started my very first tattoo. Which is a 3/4 traditional Japanese sleeve. Aside from the symbolism that belongs in a Japanese tattoo (it's a koi swimming up + cherry blossom flowers) there is no deeper meaning aside from that I think it looks beautiful, and honestly I'm so happy I just did it. Getting that sleeve hopefully finished in September and in the meantime got a cute little back tattoo from a different artist done as well :D Never happier that I just went for it without the endless overthinking.
Similar story except it was after I turned 40. I just decided to go for it and got a design of random colors on my foot. I don't regret waiting but I'm so glad I started instead of continuing to think about it!
I would love to get a Japanese style tattoo. I have a book about those that I got to review and I just love them, especially the full body pieces. But that's not something I'd be able to afford. But maybe a smaller one like a sleeve one day. Yours sounds beautiful.
@@sylverscale yeah, right now I'm 11 hours and 1600 euros in, with 2 more days planned in September 😂 for now the plan is to finish this sleeve and then do a matching one on my other arm, a full suit is so terribly beautiful but too big of a commitment. I don't think my artist is prepared for that either, haha.
I’m pretty sure the guy with the possibly drunk woman wasn’t refusing to resize it, he was telling her that if she wanted it resized he has to take the old stencil off but she was refusing to let him wipe it off
at 19:00 , the video isn't about the fact that hes upset that he has to change the tattoo size but rather that he wants to wipe the stencil off to apply a new smaller one but the client doesn't want him to wipe it off but is also demanding it smaller at the same time.
as far as traditional tattoos go there is nothing wrong with picking something out of a flash book. that's part of the art and does not mean they won't be original in some way, whether in its shading color use or even line weight. nothing done by human hands will ever be a perfect copy of one another.
This or she is somehow very wealthy.. but 10 000? Are tattoo in the US are way more expensive than in europe ? (the 1000$ flower). Personally I got a 13-15 cm diameter, well detailed tattoo for 300€.. for 10 000 I would have a LOT of my body covered with BIG detailed tattoos
My Pops (dad’s stepdad) has had tattoos for the majority of his life. He left school in 8th grade and almost immediately started getting tattooed. Unfortunately, most of them didn’t age well as he worked long days in the sun (and sunscreen wasn’t exactly a thing when he started working). He has a black blob on his forearm that I didn’t find out until a couple of years ago used to be a panther 😂 He’s always been the “cool grandpa.”
I’m so shocked to see how little subscribers you have. Because you deserve way more and I love your content. Not enough people talk about tattoos as an enthusiast instead of a so-called expert. I love your input.
That video with the old man was really heartwarming to me. The first tattoo I ever saw was my grandpas tattoo - it was a sailor jerry style pin-up on his arm that he got as a teenager in Copenhagen (it must've been done during the 60's). I always thought that tattoo was so cool, though my grandmother was a conservative woman and didn't like it haha. Both my grandparents have moved on to another plane of existance now, but I like to think that grandfathers spirit lives on through my love of tattoos I got from him as a child.
As someone who has tattooed knees, mostly just plain script, sometimes a session can go long just because the person isn't sitting well. I had a girl hunch over and try to look at me while I was tattooing her knee and kept constantly having to tell her to sit back, or stop because her boob was touching the top of my machine / baseball cap, and her long hair was draping over me. I've had men shake, scream and yell and make a 2 hour tattoo into 5+ hours. People really don't understand how much they move and wiggle when they are texting or on their phones and it can be really infuriating haha. Also as a disabled person myself, I've had to take breaks while tattooing difficult spots because of how *I* need to bend move around the client. Sometimes a 'simple' tattoo can turn into hours of work over the dumbest things. This girl got a solid knee tattoo, it looks clean and will heal great. No need to complain about solid work, because good work takes time and if it means waiting out someone crying or walking around the studio so your back doesn't give out, so be it! Also knee skin kinda sucks to tattoo because its so strange, so if it was the first time someone did a knee, I'd give them a pass. A lot placement things kinda come with experience and knee tattoos are pretty rare even in a street shop.
How would a newb know what a tattoo is supposed to cost tho if someone says that’s the rate on their first tattoo. You have to have the confidence as ask what things cost and the trust that you aren’t being taken advantage of. Unfortunately for every bad experience posted online just like that one where they found out after they were overcharged that’s another load of viewers who won’t go for their first tattoo 😢
My grampy was in the navy. He was one of the people who inspired me to start getting tattoos. My uncle told me that when he was in the hospital visiting my grampy in his final moments that he took a better look at his tattoos 😅 He had a Betty Boop that I’d like to recreate. He probably got it done in the late 40’s. I miss him. He was such a rad person. As far as the being grabbed by people so they can take a better look at your tattoos, this has definitely happened to me. I have a tattoo on the back of my neck and I’ve had someone yank me by the back of my shirt and tell me they were trying to read it. It startled tf out of me and I gently reminded them that it’s not appropriate to touch someone to get a better look at their tattoos. Asking is just fine lol.
My best friend’s step dad got his first/only tattoo about 40+ years ago when he first immigrated to America at the age of 19. Literally had maybe $50 in his pocket (I don’t remember the amount, but it wasn’t much), and went and got a small American traditional eagle. He showed me last time we visited, and he laughed and said that it looked bad compared to mine, but I told him that I was excited for when my tattoos will eventually look like his, because that’s how tattoos age! He was actually relieved to hear that xD
grandpa tattoo story: like a lot of men his age he got one (the only one) in the military. he says a lot of colleagues got them done and he followed the trend (how millennial of him! /j), one look at a random maganize later and he now has the face of some famous french actress (we're not french) from the 40/50s in the middle of the chest!! now he can't even remember the name of her, the ink is all blue and boy is it always a funny story to tell. bc no, that's not my grandma, it's a random french lady😂
18:51 the problem was that she wasn't letting him wipe the original stencil off. He was fine with resizing it but to do that he had to put on a new stencil and she wouldn't let him which is why he asked her if she was on something.
32:18 I think the joke was exactly that, the premise makes it seem like it's gonna be a video making fun of the way some girls talk about getting tattoos but the punchline is that it's just a realistic depiction of what it describes
I relate about Autumn 1000%! I moved this spring to the Blue Ridge Mountains in the US, specifically I'm in Virginia. And the "fall colors" of leaves changing colors in the mountains is INCREDIBLE. I'm literally tearing up thinking about how beautiful it is. 😅😭 And now I LIVE HERE!!! In my forever home!!! Yup I'm crying. I cannot wait until I see a leaf drop I swear.
I got tattooed at a Festival once. The artist only tattooed crew and artists, but in the main festival area. We were sitting in a little booth, so i was not concerned about people coming too close or something, it felt quite secure and hygienic. The designs were different versions of the festivals logo in different sizes. It was very hot and sunny that weekend. I got tattooed in the evening and got second skin put on, but the next morning it came off😅 after that i just put a big plaster over the tattoo, to protect it from sun and dirt, but it definitely struggled during healing, as i could not really wash or moisturize it for the first 3 days.. also the artist was not very experienced. I love it for the experience and i love to have this festival with me forever, but it is definitely one of my worse tattoos 😅 And as a guest i would never ever get tattooed at a festival. When i'm crew i don't really drink, i can kinda stay in the shade etc.. But as a guest who's trying to enjoy the festival, i really would not want to worry about a fresh tattoo!
26:38 unexpected crying attack. My grandad had a colourful bird and ribbon on his arm and a mermaid from when he was in the navy (he was a firefighter later in life) and I just had a vivid memory of me sitting on his knee and trying to clean it off his arm because i thought it was like the bubblegum tattoo’s we all got as kids at weekends and holidays. You had to clean them off in your sunday bath for school the next day. God I had a happy childhood up to age ten. Rest in peace grandad. He did have amazing tales to tell. (For context, I was born in 1972 in Manchester and we only got one bath a week, and the whole family shared the water and this was commonplace. Peoples standard of living is so different now)
I got my first tattoo at Download. 🎉 I looked up the artists beforehand and it was in a nice tent. I booked an appointment and went in for a custom design the next day. For the rest of the festival, I went back every day for proper aftercare. It was so good. My bass clef heart still looks great and is very meaningful, 12 years later🥰
I love that no matter what happens during the videos in this series at the end, we can always rely on the comforting soft “byyyyyee” to send us on our way.
Oh that owl with the skin reaction looks kinda raised as well, right? She might have a delayed immune reaction to the ink.. that happened to a friend of mine. She got a black work/line work tattoo way back when, it healed, then aged pretty normally, and years later it started to get raised and falling apart. Her body had started to react negatively. My theory: since the ink is kept in the skin by those large white blood cells, some trauma to the spot might have "shaken" some of those cells loose or popped them open, and that started a new "round of healing so to speak, and a renewed immune reaction maybe? (I mean those large cells that eat toxic stuff then die where they are?)
I totally agree with the “that’s not a patchwork sleeve” sentiment. IMO a “sleeve” means the majority of the skin is covered (I also wouldn’t call an article of clothing that is mostly holes a sleeve - they’re more like coverings)… just my opinion 🤷🏼♀️
I avoided my roses looking like cabbage by choosing 'dog roses'... one layer of petals rather than multiple. My half sleeve will probably amount to a bit over 2k when all done, but I had to have part of it done twice due to having been pawned off on an artist that wasn't capable of doing what I wanted after the artist I'd initially gone to had moved on. At least I'm happy with it now.
My favorite thing is older people with tattoos. My fiance's grandma has a lot of tattoos, most of which she got somewhat recently. Most of them have personal meanings but some are just silly.
I had a coworker who pulled down my shirt to see my back tattoo without any warning. I yelled in a voice two octaves deeper for her to get the heck off me. Yet, I was the one management had a meeting with…🙄
My grandpa has 1 tattoo, because i got my first tattoo when i turned 17 and i told him that it didnt hurt, he wanted a tattoo for a long time but didn't dare because he was afraid of the pain. Now he has a portrait tattoo of his deceased wife on his upper arm and he really loves it. he now always says "look now I always have her with me"
I can’t imagine getting tattooed at a music festival because I just recently went to a show and git an absolute thrashing in the mosh pit. I don’t even wanna think how bad it would hurt getting in the pit with a fresh tattoo if that area got smacked
The shrek “tattoo” was definitely drawn on. You can see where the ink from the lines is feathering down the cracks in their skin. A healed tattoo wouldn’t be doing this. lol 😂
Defo agree with the rose - cabbage/lettuce thing my first tattoo when I was 17 was a rose with a scroll saying 'Mam' - she passed when I was 14 so it was the first one I was determined to get.
my "high value man" is cheering me on through my tattoo journey and loves tattoos just as much as i do :) value is not determined by the state of your skin
In addition, conservative men likely see each tattoo as a decision that little lady has made for herself and paid for with her own money, def not trad wife material, ya know?
I have a cat face and the phases if the moon under it. I call it my"Moon Kitty" tattoo. I love it because my youngest great niece who is learning to talk loves this tattoo and calls it "Meow", multiple times a day. Its so cute !! 🥰
You know how when you go to the garage or a cardealer you need to bring someone that knows cars...when you go get a tattoo, ask a heavily tattooed friend to go with you so you dont get scammed out of your money by getting overcharged
What that woman said about tattoos and some guys makes so much sense. When I was 16 I met the man I wound up marrying at age 18 and he was 35. He hated tattoos. Said they were for whores. When we finally got divorced the first thing I did was get my first tattoo and I haven't stopped. My husband now is a tattoo artist!
The running real estate guy 😂😂 I am always stressed seeing them run up n down townhouses, especially in SF they can be hella narrow, they’re always stuffed with dangers 😂. He’s bound to fly over one ill advised ottoman thru a glass pane 💀
I've been watching like every single video you've posted while on maternity leave. I'm not that cosy, I'm washing bottles but I am having a good time lol!
I have a similar tattoo to the person with the $1000 flower (similar size floral bouquet in the same position) but with bolder line work and with color (and custom flowers with meaning). I paid about $300 in 2023 in Los Angeles at a well-established shop. And that’s including tip!
Also side note-Lauren has taught me a lot about tattoos and her videos are fantastic and also educational, I’m very excited to be able to dip my toe in the tattoo community (weird saying, but you know what I mean)🩷

The 10K in a year on tattoos one is even worse. She was on Caleb Hammer's financial audit, which means she most likely is in massive debt and has been for a while. Usually those people don't have a full grasp on consequences or where they went wrong. You can kinda see that in the lady in that short TikTok as well (I watched some full episodes of that show when I didn't mind the vibes, this might've been one of m). She acts so flippant about it.
My grandpa was tattooed in 1944 with an ancor and the year he was born as he was going to go in the navy in WWII. Years later he tried to "remove it" himself with a knife so it was messed up at the top.
Omg I know exactly which tik tok you were talking about!! All the comments were cracking me up too, everyone was baffled as to how she got all the way up there 🤣🤣
my first tattoo says “happier days are definitely ahead for you” on my forearm. i get a lot of comments that it sounds like something from a fortune cookie. which it is! it was a fortune that i got years ago and kept in my wallet because i just thought it was sweet. i decided to get it tattooed when i lost a friend to suicide and i wanted to commemorate him with a positive reminder to always keep moving forward
I never go with what's trending in the tattoo community. I get what I want when I want it and gone my artist a general idea and let him do his thing. My below the elbow sleeve is made up of 3 larger but meaningful pieces... with a little room to add some filler (prob vines and thorns). Above my elbow will be the same. They're ideas I've had for years, not denied in a whim. My daughter turns 18 in December and we've known we're gonna get matching tattoos but it's been a couple years of trying to decide what. I'm always an advocate of think it through for a while (at least a few months) before getting a tattoo idea. Find some ideas online, think of where and how big you want it, and research who you want to go to. Keeping this in mind, I think it'll be less likely to not regret any. I'm 44 and been getting tattoos since I was 18 and don't regret a single 1. One got a little fvcked up when I got pregnant (it's on my pelvis) but no one but my husband and I see it anyway, lol.
I think the whole issue with getting a tattoo outside is the aspect of dirt and sun. Anyone who cares about their tattoos know to avoid those two things so hearing "outside tattoo" awakens a motherly instinct to protect your ink. However I'm sure it'll be fine, sailors used to get tattooed then go right back on the ship working and turned out fine
I'm honestly so thankful that my first tattoo was never uploaded. It's a personalized logo of my favourite band and I'm really happy that im the only one who has it.
That knee tattoo taking four hours is wild. I just got a decent sized tattoo on each knee of a bee with a colorful geometric background. Each knee is a different design with a different kind of bee. That took five hours including the design process and breaks.
29:39 Not only is it not patchwork, but it took FIVE 1.5 hour sessions?! Imo, for those tiny tattoos, regardless of how many they are…it doesn’t look like nearly enough to take THAT MUCH time. They are either not counting correctly, or they got taken advantage of and had an artist that spent more time talking than tattooing…because 7.5 hours for those tiny tatts is 🤯🤯🤯 The only good thing about them is they at least look professionally done from what I can see in the video. Wonder if it’s the same close up?

I’m pretty sure the guy with the possibly drunk woman wasn’t refusing to resize it, he was telling her that if she wanted it resized he has to take the old stencil off but she was refusing to let him wipe it off
Also that studio is a local one for me lol
at 19:00 , the video isn't about the fact that hes upset that he has to change the tattoo size but rather that he wants to wipe the stencil off to apply a new smaller one but the client doesn't want him to wipe it off but is also demanding it smaller at the same time.
as far as traditional tattoos go there is nothing wrong with picking something out of a flash book. that's part of the art and does not mean they won't be original in some way, whether in its shading color use or even line weight. nothing done by human hands will ever be a perfect copy of one another.
LOVE your comment "I took one for the team!" That is what I'm gonna say next time anyone tells me they don't like my tattoos.
Hell yeah 😂🩷
The girl that spend 10,000 on tattoos put them on credit cards, and put herself in debt. It was a crazy episode for sure.
I was wondering what the situation with that was. What’s the bet in 5/10 years she regrets all of it. Wild.
OOF. That's why you should always make sure that you actually already have the money to get a tattoo, or really anything that costs a lot!
Aha! The Lauren/Caleb venn diagram is real!
I was so happy to see Caleb Hammer on this show! Lauren would LOVE the drama on his show. He’s awesome!
Oh he sounds hella cool 😍
@@treacletatts he is! ❤️😊
I’m so shocked to see how little subscribers you have. Because you deserve way more and I love your content. Not enough people talk about tattoos as an enthusiast instead of a so-called expert. I love your input.
🥹🩷 thank you!!
I'm always surprised our girl doesn't have more too!
Ikr?? ✨️💖
Really enjoy the Cheeseburger Dude’s updates. 😂❤
The $1000 tattoo client is also so excited! They are prime for taking advantage of. Yikes!!!!!
Yeah! It’s a cute tattoo but even a spot of research would’ve told them they were being overcharged 🫣🫣🫣 I’m glad they liked it but still
How would a newb know what a tattoo is supposed to cost tho if someone says that’s the rate on their first tattoo. You have to have the confidence as ask what things cost and the trust that you aren’t being taken advantage of. Unfortunately for every bad experience posted online just like that one where they found out after they were overcharged that’s another load of viewers who won’t go for their first tattoo 😢
Yes I have my snacks (colonoscopy prep fluid) and my beverages (more colonoscopy prep fluid)
😂❤
That Shrek was 100% Sharpie lol.
I should really thank you for giving out so much free tattoo knowledge since I've been watching for years now before I get one
That white spiderweb face tattoo is 🔥
grandpa tattoo story: like a lot of men his age he got one (the only one) in the military. he says a lot of colleagues got them done and he followed the trend (how millennial of him!
For visitors a good place to nature watch is while driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway. -VA resident
19:03 i think for this one she wasn’t letting him rub off the stencil to size it down
Agreed
My thoughts too
I got tattooed at a Festival once.
Had a major touch up today and my shoulder is smarting like nobody's business... so glad to have something to watch!
"none of them even have color" 😂
I love Caleb lol 😂
Peoples standard of living is so different now)
Oh my love 🩷 thank you for sharing such happy / wonderful memories with me I feel so honoured 🥹🩷
I got my first tattoo at Download. 🎉
I looked up the artists beforehand and it was in a nice tent. I booked an appointment and went in for a custom design the next day. For the rest of the festival, I went back every day for proper aftercare. It was so good.
My bass clef heart still looks great and is very meaningful, 12 years later🥰
The porcelain cheeseburger is definitely my favorite 💙
That girl being engaged to someone from BMTH lives the life I want :D
The palm tattoo tiktok is making me so nervous to get both of my palms done in November 😂
Both!!!!! One day???? My thoughts are with you for then 🙏🏻😂
I had a coworker who pulled down my shirt to see my back tattoo without any warning. I yelled in a voice two octaves deeper for her to get the heck off me. Yet, I was the one management had a meeting with…🙄
omg my fave series to watch while crocheting lets gooooooo 💕💕💕
Love the unexpected Caleb Hammer clip. The woman who spent 10k on tattoos was so wild.
My favorite series! Thank you! 😍
Thank you for being here 🩷
Your expression on the thumbnail is gold. 😂
Just now seeing your plushie axolotl collection! They’re so cute. 🥰
The burger tattoos is such a cool idea.
Omg @ 35:25ish, I DIED cuz I’m over here getting tattoos paid for by my mom so I DONT do heroin (again) 😂
Aww, cheeseburger guy didn't do the sunglasses thing. Awesome tatt though.
0:18 brings me life! 🦇🎃👻🍂😍
So good watching this after a full day session. Session 4 on my full back, another 8hrs, sore and exhausted but it's a lovely winter stormy night ❤
I have a similar tattoo to the person with the $1000 flower (similar size floral bouquet in the same position) but with bolder line work and with color (and custom flowers with meaning). I paid about $300 in 2023 in Los Angeles at a well-established shop. And that’s including tip!
I’m getting my first tattoo next week! I’m super excited but a little nervous, so wish me luck!
Yay!!!! 🥳
Have the best time!! 🩷
Also side note-Lauren has taught me a lot about tattoos and her videos are fantastic and also educational, I’m very excited to be able to dip my toe in the tattoo community (weird saying, but you know what I mean)🩷
I really LOVE your videos, new follower here 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️✨and I love watching them while im doing laundry or cooking or cleaning on weekends 🤪🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽 regards from Houston TX Darling ☺️
in the whole family, cousins and all, me and my sisters are the only ones with tattoos, at this point they'll blame our mum
Holy crap I have been watching you forever!!! Its so strange to see us in your vid 🤣❤❤❤
THAT FOX TATTOO at 36:34 wooooh it looked soo good😲
Omg I know exactly which tik tok you were talking about!! All the comments were cracking me up too, everyone was baffled as to how she got all the way up there 🤣🤣
Love your vids so much. Genuinely make my day a lot better. Give me a laugh when I need it:)
The disappointing the family tiktok is Melrose Avenue’s lead singer Valdo. The band is great
my first tattoo says “happier days are definitely ahead for you” on my forearm. i get a lot of comments that it sounds like something from a fortune cookie. which it is! it was a fortune that i got years ago and kept in my wallet because i just thought it was sweet. i decided to get it tattooed when i lost a friend to suicide and i wanted to commemorate him with a positive reminder to always keep moving forward
I have my first tattoo appointment in 8 days!!
Thank you for inspiring me to finally make the jump!
You can unfortunately develop allergies as you age, might have happened with the ink.
This is honestly one of my fears. I have red ink in an old tattoo and those are most likely to have a reaction. I'm praying that never happens 😩
Wonder if it’s the same close up?
with peace and love
We've got an H3 fan over here!!!
