To answer some questions in your video: The second chamber on the roomba original is the vacuum motor, it is separate from the bin like the i7, but the airpath is different. The 400 can be scheduled and works with all 400 series accessories. The 530 has a radio and can use the wireless command center and lighthouses. I don't think any of the 600 series have radios. The rear cliff sensors were introduced with the 700 series for dirt detect 2. I don't think the 760 has dirt detect 2, but it still has the rear cliff sensors for it. You can switch between the 2 dirt detect modes on models that have it by holding spot. This is an awesome video. I wish there were more like it on youtube.
I‘m not shure but I read one time the Wireless Commander Center was compatible with 560 upwards, 660 upwards, 780 upwards and 860 upwards. There was even a Wireless Commander Center with the design of the 700 Series and Touch controls. I saw it on a 700 Series Trailer on the iRobot RUclips Channel
Wait, your "Discovery" does not have wheel drop sensors? Every damn Roomba have them :D also I see you upgraded your 530 to 2nd gen 600/700 series cleaning head, not enhanced, enhanced is entirely black, found in 610 and 625, it has brushes which are easier to clean and it has ball bearings, and also you changed side brush on your 530. And main difference between 600 and 700 series Roombas is new bin AeroVac 2 with dual HEPA filters in 700's, 700's also had new XLife battery, cliff sensors on back, full bin indicator, and some of them had touch control buttons, not just classic click buttons. Except for that great video! I didn't know you have 980 and some other Roombas for sale :D
Yep, 4000 series robots and below don’t have sensors to tell when the wheels are down, that was an upgrade present in 500 series robots and above. As far as the cleaning head, iRobot I thought has always called the grey module the enhanced cleaning head. As seen in the description of their page for it store.irobot.com/default/parts-and-accessories/roomba-accessories/700-series/roomba-cleaning-head/21917.html but yeah my 530 is one of the best deep cleaners I have ever used. You can never go wrong with those or the 600 series, no wonder their design hasn’t changed much. The 500 series was way ahead of its time and that’s why I considered it the biggest upgrade. Thanks for clearing up the 700 series! I had a feeling that’s when the rear cliff sensors were introduced. And yep that’s a summer project I’m working on lol. Found a bunch of cheap 900 series robots to fix and resell and so far so good,
@@IDogFan41 ok, iRobot probably renamed it, cuz before it was 2nd gen cleaning head :D but I must disagree with the wheel drop sensors, my friend has Scheduler, same one like bottom of your Discovery, it has cliff sensors. Also all mine 3 Roombas SE have drop sensor and even my Roomba Red from 2004 have them! All old Roombas have them, I have never seen Roomba without them. You're lucky that you got some 900s for cheap, here in cz the cheapest 900 series Roomba there was sold for 120$, so that's why I still don't have one :/
@@robovaccollector Huh that’s interesting. Perhaps on mine they left out the wheel sensors since it was a remanufactured one and basically through together with parts. I’ll have to open it up some day to check it out. In the meantime I’ll have to update the description lol.
If the budget 400s have the same motherboard as all the others (which I believe is the case) then the remote would work. Also I have 2 original roombas waiting to be repaired so if you are interested in them stay tuned : )
Well for now they did release robot vacuums but I didn’t know they were lease robot vacuums in the mid to thousands for example 2002 which is the year I was born
I have a 620 but it doesnt have a handle but i would like to say that it was my family robot vaccum And we didint know about spare parts all we did was clean the bin and like the brushes so i did one Time a deep clean And it had a lot of dust And hair everything everywhere but i still didint clean the side brush for the walls but i cleaned the wheel And it was filled it dust And hair again everything everywhere

Thank you for making this video. It was really interesting.
The Roomba Discovery was the first big seller and put Irobot on the map. A cleaner Original Model.

The remote that came with 4305 works for 551 and 552. It would probably work for more models. I just have those 3 vacuum models currently.
Which was the first model that supportet wifi and had app stearing of some sort?
my edge sweeper brush wil not stay on. can you tell me why?
Discovery has 600 series brushes
your carpet looks nice.
i have a roomba simalar to the 600 series but mine is a roomba 620
620 is part of the 600 series. It's basically the 614 but in white with the neon green ring. It's a great model!
this is oddly interesting. :D
And the 500 series has the i7's side sweeper
