Yea bud and thank you. Could you please edit out the name drop though? Its all good for folks who have been before to recognize it and know but I don't wanna see too many jump on it all at once. Lol. Wont be fun for anyone.
Went fishing today in a creek. 7 20” Rainbow Trouts were swimming together 5 feet from shore line at the top of the water. Actually saw their eyes. All were very slow. Air temp was 52. Water was cold but not that cold. Tried white jig, pink jig, sliver rainbow spinner, salmon eggs, red worms. NO bites for 2 hours. I did not want to leave that spot because I just had to get one. Not even the slightest movement towards any of the baits mentioned. Time was was 8:30. Sunny on this spot. These fish were jumping out of the water. Palomino was sitting about 30 feet upstream. Gave up on that one. Caught small mouth bass though. What to use in this situation
Speckled trout aren't actually related to rainbows or other trout and are in fact in the drum family so I'm afraid the video doesn't apply but as a kid when the rainbows and browns were being hard headed a small ball of powerbait would do the job when nothing else would.
this literally happened to me and my dad yesterday when fishing Murrells inlet. Working same lure but different color pattern and he out fished me easily 9-2. We were doing well using rapala X-rap xr10 jerkbaits. excellent video!
The ghost white xr8 xrap is the first lure I ever caught a trout on. I'm stoked for the next xrap bite I get on so I can throw the vision 110 and xrap and see which does better.
@@FishingwithBrewski I'd be interested to know the results of that as well. I threw some yozuri crystal minnow 105f and a yozuri 3ds jerk in 100 and 70sp with not even a bump.
What are the odds that I got on the xrap bite today. The vision 110 didn't get touched. Got 6 from 18-23" on the xr8 xrap though. Wasn't even recording either. Quick bank fishing session on lunch
@@FishingwithBrewski that's awesome! I just restocked on xr10s will have to add a few Xr8s as a finesse option!! There is no better feeling than a fish flat destroying a jerk bait. Even in the dead cold of winter it's very rarely a subtle bite.
@@rocknut88 they were super subtle today. None of them had it in their mouth actually. Watch this video. Somewhere shortly after the 8 minute mark you'll see a trout put its face against the lure but not strike it. Think thats what all the ones I caught today were doing. ruclips.net/video/5s8BIS2dqIo/видео.html
I find that I catch more on top in 3-5' of water without a ton of current but never rule out the possibility of catching them in 20'. Definitely times when they'll hold near the surface in really deep water.
I only have stradic reels currently. Did ask the wife for a Vanford for Christmas though! 😄 I love the stradic but the roller bearings are a real pain. Have to be replaced about once a year when you kayak fish like I do a lot but even with the bearing issues they've outlasted by far anything else I have owned.
@John Springs my stradics are the same way man. I've usually got at least one that's down at any given time because of a roller bearing. Tried using some Cals grease on mine before and it seemed like it just attracted dirt even faster but that's just for the stradic.
Fun videos man! We actually just moved to Wrightsville from Charlottesville, VA (so we've been pretty much freshwater fishermen our whole lives - except during a beach vacation every week) so we are trying to learn as much as we can - especially about speckled trout - my favorite fish for sure! What boat launch did yall use on this day? It looked like beautiful scenery - almost swamp like - looks like it'd be cool to paddle around (we actually just got fishing kayaks for the first time - so learning how to use those too haha). Anyways fun videos man!
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Out of respect for others in my area I have agreed to not name specific places, ramps, etc but I will tell you that if you're looking for a place that looks like that to kayak then the Neuse, Pamlico, New River, and Bay River all look like that towards the backs of creeks and they all hold trout but so does Wrightsville. Just not way up the CFR
@@FishingwithBrewski Ahhh thanks man and no worries definitely undertand that - but awesome yea it looks so beautiful there so will definitely try to find some similar landscapes on the rivers you recommended. I think we are going to give lockwood folly inlet a go - from the satellite looks promising with flats, grass and some nice cuts! I'll let ya know how it goes!
That bridge produces some nice fish. But slow and steady always wins the race. I see you there, brother.
Thanks for talking about lures and techniques - not just vid of you catching. Well done
like that Dudley's Marina shirt!
Slick Lure for the win!
You know it man. They're absolutely deadly and I don't think there's a lure out there that gets thumped harder.
Man, this video has got my Trout Fever up too early in the month, 😆!! Good job man!
Thank you. I doubt I'll be getting out much with all that's going on. Catch a few for me.
@@FishingwithBrewski Glad you're in the fight on this side, stay strong Brother!
Looks like Jacksonville.. Nice work fellas!
Thanks!
4:24, aint nothing like that bite on a lure. They crush it!
Good work fellas. Eric
Ya'll playing right in my backyard for most of it! HA!
We tried hard to get on some in a less obvious spot but they just wouldn't play along.
@@FishingwithBrewski Yep. Stubborn trout. They want what they want when they want it..or they don't.
Slick 😜

Great video!! Eric is a great dude. Fishes hard!
He was certainly patient during our slow grind for this trip.
@@FishingwithBrewski he’s a hell of a fisherman. We’ve grinded it out a few times together. It seems like luck is on our side most days.
I was exactly in the way! Haha. Great video brotha!

well ya finally switched from the Shimano Teramar over to the Fenwick &&& you started to catch them... that was the trick lol
Love seeing people release trout. Where I live everybody thinks they have to keep every trout they catch.
Lots of people here do the same. Especially when they catch big ones.
