    This is very helpful, thank you! What if one of the two collaborating artists has Spotify and Apple Music accounts and the other does not? Will it create a new artist account for the new artist?

    • @ThaREC
      @ThaREC  Год назад +3

      When uploading the music to distrokid, there should be a window that appears asking you for the second artist's spotify and apple music details. Within this window there should be an option to select that they do not have these details yet (as they don't have a profile on these platforms) and when this is selected Spotify and Apple music will create accounts for that artist automatically.

I'm making an album with my friends. He is featured in every song, which means he will be a primary artist so all my slots will be gone, but in some songs, we will have a third person, Will I put him as a featured Artist? One more thing, if the third person is a feature and I have no more artists slots left, how will I artist map him, Do I keep it blank? Thanks!

    Does anyone have experience with uploading a collab single (artist name: artist1 & artist2) and afterwards trying to add it to an album (artist name: artist1). I´m experiencing big metadata issues with that atm. It is possible to add primary artists to each song of a album, but it is not possible to add primary artists to a single for collaboration. That messes up the meta data i guess. Any ideas how to fix?

    Hey man wassup, do you know how to make one of the tracks of the collab album only have 1 artist name especially if that song only has one artist on it?

    • @ThaREC
      @ThaREC  6 месяцев назад

      I don't think you can do it that easily on Distrokid, but I'm not totally sure as I haven't tried something like that myself. The only way I can think of how to do this is to NOT upload the album as a collaboration but upload it normally and state on every track, apart from the only one you want to leave out, that your second artist is a 'main artist'.
      You have to go through and do this on every single track though, there is no blanket setting as this would put your second artist on the unwanted track as well.
      Don't worry if this doesn't work on the first try; even if the album is released you can open it in Distrokid and select 'Edit Release. This will allow you do all the steps I've said above.
      The only downsides I can think of by doing it this way is: 1) It takes time and you must meticulously check the details you're putting in. Even I get quite confused sometimes when I'm uploading 15 songs and I'm trying to keep track of these details on a webpage that seems that it scrolls down for miles! 2) On iTunes, it may recognize this as a compliation not an album. Although iTunes is the only platform that does this, it still annoys me and when i saw this happen to something I uploaded, I ended up removing the credits that caused this to happen.
      Hope some of that helps, if you've got any more questions then just let me know!

    thank you very much for this video, answered a lot of my questions.
    I have one more that I would like to ask, I'm co-releasing an album and the context is, the artist I'm releasing the album with already has a profile on all the stores having uploaded music prior to this album release, I don't have an account because it is my first release ever with distrokid on any store, now the album isn't showing up on his "upcoming" section on spotify for artists and we fear something will go wrong with the release, is there a way I can make sure that everything is gonna go as planned? I would love to access my profile before it gets created by the release.

    • @ThaREC
      @ThaREC  11 месяцев назад

      It should work absolutely fine even if you haven't had an account before, however, I don't think there's a way to access your profile on Spotify before the album is released. Something might appear on iTunes if you've allowed the release to be pre-ordered but I'm not 100% sure.
      As for seeing the release on the 'upcoming' section, this doesn't appear immediately. Obviously, I don't know how long you've been waiting for, but the last time I released something, I think it took around 10 days to appear.

      I'm actually about to upload a giant album I've been working for months that involves 22 artists (kind of crazy XD) and what I've found out in my research and emails with Distrokid is that you can make an album with technically as many people but the problem is there's primary artists and featured artists on the album level and the track level, so I'm gonna have 21 artists who are primary artists on the track level, but I'm gonna be the only person who is the primary artist on the album level.
      The only reason why this is important (to me at least) is because since the other artists aren't primary artists on the album level they won't be able to pitch any of the songs in Spotify for Artists. So how I'm gonna go around this is by uploading specific songs as singles with the same exact release date as the whole album, with the same ISRC so that they can pitch it to spotify for artists. The issue there is that you'll need to upgrade your distrokid to be able to upload songs with more primary artists.
      That was super long and complicated, sorry that I suck at explaining things but I hope this helps!
