As others have said, when I light up a tower, it will not return me to the home spot in the center. I can only move on. How do I get through it without returning to the home spot?
Yes, it's changed slightly - you can teleport back anytime by using the Teleportation Mark with a blue swirl behind the text, it's in the top right on your screen, under Log.

@Implicitee The towers only light up for me. They don't return me to the middle regardless if I light them up or not.

The alters don't teleport me back like in your vid. Have they changed something?
They just light up and I stay where I'm at...

Is there a reason you didn't hit the return crystal at around 9 minutes in?
Return crystal? The crystals just light up for me. They don't return me to middle.
