No problem! That Nyko product is so inexpensive that even if it doesn't resolve your 3DS issue, then you can still resell your broken 3DS with the Nyko thing as a bundle on ebay and get lot more money out of all of it. When I was repairing a lot of 3DS systems I would buy that Nyko product for each system, no matter what. Then, I would cram all of it into a USPS Priority Padded Flat Rate Envelope, which ships for under $6 every time.

Instead of the Nyko Power Pak, you can just use the 3DS cradle that came with your system. However, it won't work for the New 3DS model since it has to be shut. I have the original 3DS though.

I found another solution! If you have another 3ds or a 2ds, you can charge the battery in that one and then put it back into your other one! It may be a bit cumbersome to unscrew the covers, but I managed to get my old 3ds working again after swapping the battery from a broken 2ds (they use the same battery)!
Or the alternative, get yourself a refurbished Nintendo 3ds, remove your old one's battery, and use the new one as a charging base, (assuming you have important files on your old one)

Hi, I'm kind of desperate for help! I bought a used 3DS (worst decision in my life) only to notice after a while that it has a charging problem. I tried pretty much everything I could see on the Internet : tried to move the pins like you said, changed the battery, changed the charger... The thing is that it won't charge on the charging cradle either. I tried my friend's, just to make sure, but it doesn't change anything, even after I cleaned up the connectors, which were really dirty. Strange thing is that after I cleaned them, I put it on the cradle and it charged perfectly. Tried to charge it the day after and the orange light would start flashing again, exactly like before. Any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks!
I will try this! I'm sorry to say, but the previously covered sewing needle solution ended up worsening my charging port, since it was already pretty beaten up. However I will try and get one of these when I get the chance, and hopefully this will solve my problems!

I had a boo boo whilst opening up to replace my L button, I actually tore the socket off, and had to force the cover off and break it due to damaged screws (which I removed with pliers later once the back was removed, the parts still attached to the screws enabled that) . Im assuming that this is Precisely what I need too? And fixing both problems at once? I need a UK supplier, have you a link?
Another way would to buy a external battery charger. You would have to pop it out of the console every time you wanted to charge...but it's a good option for 2ds....

My little sister's 3DS XL charge port is messed up. It feels wobbly when plugged in, but the tower inside of it is still there, and pins in both holes. Any advice, or even products such as the Nyko pack for the 3DS XL?
There is a similar product for the XL, but it is made by a different company and costs circa $99. I would look for a 3DS XL Nintendo charging cradle. You could buy a new one for around $25. If you go to some place like GameStop, then they might let you test the 3DS XL on one of their used Nintendo charging cradles. Barring that option, you will have to disassemble the system and reflow the solder points of the charging port with a soldering iron. However, definitely go to Club Nintendo website and enter in the serial number of the system. You may be able to extend the warranty by an additonal 90 days and have Nintendo repair it for free.
MY Charging port is a little mangled But It still has the prongs and when I connect my adaptor, the yellow charging light does turn on but MY 3ds still won't turn on or charge so I'm wondering, Is this a battery problem? Will the charging light turn on even if the charging port is not working???
You must tell them that as soon as the get the Nyko charging pack, they need to "initiate" the first charge. You "need" that charging port so the battery charges properly, then they can use the charging cradle from Nyko. I have 2 Nyko batteries and there instructions are the same. CHARGE THE BATTERY FIRST BY PLUGGING IN THE CHARGER THREW CHARGING PORT. I ignored this step and my 2 Nyko batteries dont charge. Did I check the Nyko cradle? yes I did and it functions correctly.
I have an old 3DS my friend gave me, that still has both pins in it, but wont charge unless the cord is held in a very specific way, even with a new charger. It also feels very loose when I plug the cord in. any ideas what the problem could be there? I had have a friend who could take apart the 3DS and put in a new port, but we also want to know if there's any way to do something about it without the risk of breaking the device.

yes I have a problem with my 3ds charging. I tried the method from your first video. The little metal prongs are fine. The 3ds was used but not allot. You don't have to wait for the battery to fully deplete. You can charge it up even if the battery is still half full. However, be sure that your 3DS is always turned on while it's charging. You can leave it closed and on standby mode, but don't turn off the 3DS completely while charging.
If I remember correctly, no. Just pay attention to what the Nyko Charging Dock does (green light or red light). Now, if you were to charge up your 3DS like you normally would by plugging the AC adapter directly into the 3DS, then the charging light on the 3DS would light up normally. Of course, most people watching this video cannot charge up their 3DS normally any longer, due to a damaged charging port.
I've seen this and been trying to get get a Nyko charger because every time I would angle it up and every time it would get harder and harder to charge... Dangerous, since it could break the inside. And it did. I really wish I looked at the sewing needle one before the black part broke off :(But no matter what, thank you for providing so many option for people, and my past self that really should've been desperate enough to use a sewing needle to fix my 3DS (D,':)! :)

When charging ports are wobbly, then usually you will need a new charging port (or use the Nyko product in the description of this video). Some times you can fix wobbly charging ports by disassembling the system and then simply reflowing the broken solder joints. If you go through all of that trouble, however, you might as well pull the old charging port off of there and solder on a brand new one. So, instead of doing all of that most people just buy the Nyko product.
Noticed something about the charger since I got it, been almost two months and sometimes it does not read that I put it on the charging station so I took a look at the battery charging parts and saw they needed to be cleaned and worked fine since then. Thing works like a champ for me. Also the thing is only for the original nintendo 3ds not the 2ds or 3ds xl or new 3ds xl. The battery does not double battery life but pretty much around 1.7 battery life (tested it).
Yeah mine is still working, it does have an off and on time of charging problems but I think it really has to do with making sure the charger is on a smooth surface so the charge points are not disconnected.

Neither of your videos work for me, here is everything. Could you help me with it. So I just a couple of weeks ago bought my new 3DS XL. I carry it everywhere and have it in sleep mode a ton. So, I put it on my bed (after turning it off) then later came back opened it and it said it was on but the screen wasn't working. I then plugged it in and the red light took about 5 seconds to come on and I took it off and the red light took another 20 to go off. Then it turned on, the whole thing was glitching out, 3D was always on sound broken lagging etc. we got the an error has occurred message. After, I turned it on and the time was reset to 2011 and I went into my game I had and instead of saying 25 hours, it said 0 hours. The game was fine, its time was reset. So I beat omega ruby got multiple legendaries in 54 minutes now. The sound was a little messed up but very usable and the home button I had to push hard down on. Next I put it in sleep mode for a couple hours and opened it. It was lagging horribly then I get the an error has occured message and it is stuck in it. Eventually it died and now it won't charge.
Welp, time to dust off my 8-year old 3ds. Thanks man, you're a legend

you can also take a 3ds battery from the wii u or switch pro controller and place it in the 3ds. not the most ideal solution, but it works.

It was working when I bent mine and then I used a little extra force and now it doesn't work, should I still try fixing it with a pin

My friend found his old charge cradle, but if that doesn't work then I'm gonna have to save up for a Nyko as well.
S Wilson probably too late, but this guy has a video on how to fix that. It's as simple as bending two pins into place in the port.

You don't have to wait for the battery to fully deplete. You can charge it up even if the battery is still half full. However, be sure that your 3DS is always turned on while it's charging. You can leave it closed and on standby mode, but don't turn off the 3DS completely while charging.

well, this won't work for me. I have the same problem with my 3ds and I was gonna order this.... but I don't have my 3ds ac adapter... ;-;

Noticed something about the charger since I got it, been almost two months and sometimes it does not read that I put it on the charging station so I took a look at the battery charging parts and saw they needed to be cleaned and worked fine since then. Thing works like a champ for me. Also the thing is only for the original nintendo 3ds not the 2ds or 3ds xl or new 3ds xl. The battery does not double battery life but pretty much around 1.7 battery life (tested it).
Yeah mine is still working, it does have an off and on time of charging problems but I think it really has to do with making sure the charger is on a smooth surface so the charge points are not disconnected.
+Anti Meta yeah I know the feeling, I got mine from amazon and a lot of times it was sold out and I had to keep checking each day till it showed up. Then I was lucky and bought one.

Nope, it's pretty safe and easy. Installing this is basically like changing the batteries on your TV remote.

So I just a couple of weeks ago bought my new 3DS XL. I carry it everywhere and have it in sleep mode a ton. So, I put it on my bed (after turning it off) then later came back opened it and it said it was on but the screen wasn't working. I then plugged it in and the red light took about 5 seconds to come on and I took it off and the red light took another 20 to go off. Then it turned on, the whole thing was glitching out, 3D was always on sound broken lagging etc. we got the an error has occurred message. After, I turned it on and the time was reset to 2011 and I went into my game I had and instead of saying 25 hours, it said 0 hours. The game was fine, its time was reset. So I beat omega ruby got multiple legendaries in 54 minutes now. The sound was a little messed up but very usable and the home button I had to push hard down on. Next I put it in sleep mode for a couple hours and opened it. It was lagging horribly then I get the an error has occured message and it is stuck in it. Eventually it died and now it won't charge.
