I Purchased a 2002 SVT last year for 28,000 in Florida. It was a show truck and hadn't seen the sun in over 14 years. Everything is orginal down to the headlight bulbs. It has a little over 62,000 miles on it, Original pristine paint job, the underneath and engine look like the truck was never started and never was driven. I inspected it from head to toe for rust and there wasn't even the smallest sign of any. I'm very proud of this truck and It is worth every penny. It is my dream Truck and I searched for 5 years to find the right one.
I worked at the factory where these were built , was the best vehicle they were treated special on the assembly line . I took a couple for a drive outside the factory. I'm retired now & building these are the best memory my whole time at Ford Oakville Ontario Canada & the first Harley Davison F150 2002
i remember my 1st time seeing a lightning in 99' was at a stop light in my 2g dsm eclipse. when a white f-150 with a lightning badge rolled up next to me. i was like wtf is *lightning* yeah i got smoked.
I bought an 01’ Lightning in 2005, and have rack up over 220K Miles on it. Running a mild tune. Awesome truck and the transmission is bulletproof. I think the toughest transmission out there 4R100M still shifts hard under heavy load.
I'm surprised, I also have an 01 Ford Lightning and in 2001 there was a huge recall on the J model transmissions failing. Something about Ford trying to save money installing a mechanical solenoid I believe.
@@3500camarzlate reply sorry, my truck had the updated version and just recently sent it to A1 Transmission For a core. The guys over there said it was in very good shape. Also I never used really sticky tires.
Awesome truck! I'm so glad to see one without too many mods. A guy in my neighborhood has one, but he painted it orange, put dopey 20" wheels on it, and installed an obnoxious exhaust. There are plenty of F150s out there to modify, if that's what your into. But I really like to see these rather unique trucks staying true to form. Good job!!
Scotty.... I enjoy your show ! I am Ford loyal for a reason. I am 58 years old & I have owned galaxie's Fairlane's, Thunderbirds mustang's Torino's F-100's F-150 's Bronco's station wagons 'some of which I still have today. I still do the maintenance & repairs myself. All of these vehicles have been very good to me, paying me back in the money I saved . Thanks again. Keep smiling!
i was only 19 years old and i lived on camp Penelton,Ca when i bought my first one pick-up a blue ford lightning boy that brings back memory’s on the Five going down to TJ
I am glad to see this iconic truck in the hands of someone who will take care of it. I owned a 2002 True Blue Lightning back then and is one of my past vehicles I miss the most. An absolute torque monster with one of the best sounding v8’s at the time.
I was exactly the same... more a Chevy guy and I bought an 01 white lighting for a crazy price.... Can't get that super charger to make that noise thought. Mine is not as nice as this one.. but it has plenty of potential... This is a good looking truck!
Chris Housden ,, bearings in the supercharger get Worn,,. When the screw touches the case,,. Scrapes,,, they're shot for good,,,. $6,000 supercharger,,. !!! It's the same way in turbos,,$3,000,,. You must replace these bearings early,,,. !!!

I bought a 2003 SVT Lightning brand new and it was a nice truck. I wish I would have never traded it in after 13 years of ownership. I had mine dynoed on a Mustang dyno and it put out stock 378hp and 440ft-lbs at the rear wheels; they were highly underated from the factory.
Ford makes the Mustang. Therefore, in my books, Ford is a legendary brand and always will be. The Mustang is the best production sports car ever made, dollar-for-value.

I got a coworker that has a black truck just like that I remember when he first bought it,he drives the truck to work everyday now.He told me when he first got it he was on the way to work and realized he better slow down before he gets a ticket he was over the speed limit.
Super nice truck. I admire the man caring enough to take this truck , fix or replace the items that were damaged then made made a few performance upgrades. He has lovingingly taken care of this limited production truck. Hats off to this guy. This video was well produced. It's an impressive video. Thanks for featuring it Scottie. I love your videos. You are a fellow Texan. You live in the southern part of the state while up in the northwest part. God Bless Texas.
Had 380HP with the supercharger. Back then it was a lot of power. I remember when they first came out, every truck enthusiast wanted one. Now in 2018 you can get 400HP from a naturally aspirated engine.
xephael - yea but you don't by "sport" trucks or Ford's for a work truck that's what dodge is for. You can have all the torque Power and use it as a work truck with reliability
These are really fun trucks to drive as the super charger noise makes it hard to keep your foot from being heavy. The biggest issue with these is the spark plugs blowing out of the head.
This is a gorgeous truck. I had a 98 v-6 extra cab with the Flareside bed and I put some custom wheels on it and a billet grille and some Lightning look a like headlights and clear corners. I loved that truck.
Great video! I've had my 2000 lightning since 2012. Production number 144 out of 4,966 in 00. Some people hate the 4r100 trans because it's a auto but if you know how to drive it and keep the od gear off while in town and never do a wot run from 3rd to 4th or a 4th to 2nd down shift wot run it will last forever! 4th od gear is a weak link in those trans and a 4th to second is brutal on sinter forged allow connecting rods and those were the real weak link in these trucks... vented blocks are real common on the 99-04 lightnings. I got my lightning for $9,500 back in 2012 with only 60k miles. It has 106,000 miles now and I daily drove up until February this year when I got my 2016 mustang gt premium. Now it's a garage queen being I love to drive my new mustang every damn day now! Plus the value of these damn trucks have gone through the roof!! I can't believe my 2000 is bluebook value at 15k in good condition with the milage it has also. I drove it everyday and put on the mileage and the value just went up on it. Mine was in horrible condition when I first got it but over the years I have found parts at junk yards and Craigslist and have been slowly restoring it back to its natural beauty. Don't plan on selling it any time soon and plan on taking it to every car show I can again this summer!
chpjimmy I have a silver 2000. #4083. Also have just about 106K on it, 105567 to be exact. Bought mine in 2010 for 10,500. It's modded slightly. It lives on with 528/623 at the rear wheels. Habit of mine to turn OD off when I start it. Only OD on if I get on the highway where I feather foot it. Runs great. I love it and will never sell. Value is higher now than when I bought it. Had several offers highest was 16,500 last month. Nothing I can think of that I would want to replace it with. Mustangs are a dime a dozen and everywhere. I've seen maybe 4 lightnings on the road in the 8 years I've owned it. It's a keeper. 👍
@@daywlkr_svt I would rather keep the original motor in this truck. That JLP longblock will take away from your trucks value when these become a collector's item.
I don't know what idiots disliked this video, but they probably drive a prius and all that power and noise scared them. Love the videos scotty keep up the great very informative content that I and a great amount of others have needed on many occasions.
No actually most of us that hate these trucks are because they are usually found registered to some jackass(although this dude seems cool) that will brag and say things like, it's faster than a viper, and blah blah blah. I had a local with one that wanted to fight after 3 runs and three straight losses against my '70 Mach 1. He begged me to run, all I was doing was cruising. It's douche asshats that give certain vehicles a bad stereo type. Same thing with Miata. It's all about taste, and at the end of the day I love Scotty's vids but I am no fan of a lightning. Hell, I'm not a Celica fan or any type of Toyota, save for the Supra, but I still respect and appreciate Scotty's opinion and admiration of them. But I also wouldn't disprespect him by disliking one of his videos either.
My dad had one brand new back in 2001 when I was also 1 year old lol he had it modded to 500hp and almost nothing could touch that truck. It is the reason why I’m so into cars today and hopefully I can track it down and buy it back
No one has forgotten how shitty they handled compared to the Lightning either. And how they had to take the engine from their prized performance car and cram it in a truck just to be faster lol
@@daywlkr_svt Not to mention that regardless of "official" numbers, real world races proved the Dodge was only faster on top end. 0-60 and 1/4 mile races (the performance most of us care about primarily) went to the Lightning.
My first car was an F150. Not an SVT, but it had a triton V8 under the hood. Having a V8 at the age of 18 was great, and it ran like a charm. Only problem I really had was when you left it alone for too long, the battery would die out. Would've loved to take it around & go dashcamming with it, but my parents sold it before I could get the opportunity : (
Love this truck my dad had this since 2001 when he was able to get his first car and got this truck it’s a white one and since still has it and it’ll be passed on to me can’t wait to use this truck I’ve been a passenger of it my whole life and will finally be behind the wheel
I've always wondered if the 1991-1992 GMC Syclones were faster than these, considering that they were built on a smaller S10/Blazer chassis, and fitted with a turbocharged V6.
Kenneth White what’s wrong with tuner crap? Bet my car in my thumbnail picture would romp on this tuck in the 1/4 mile. It looks completely stock and so does the motor but the internals are legit.
JJD Like I said in my original post. My car looks all stock. Anyone who knows what they’re looking at will notice the Type R intake manifold in my thumbnail and understand what I’m saying. Along with the drivetrain overhauled at World Famous Schmidt Auto here in Indianapolis. It’s a 94 EH9 and the 94 EH9 is one of the most rare model 4 door Civics you could get along with all the options. The power to weight of my car vs this SVT F150 would be a great race actually. But just going off of your tone on how your started your post, your comprehension and Ford rage is showing. Have a seat, you probably type standing up and angry and cussing
I had a black one back in 01, got a lot of grief from my friends being as we're all Chevy guys but I loved it. Still to this day the only brand new vehicle I've ever owned, I'd love to have another one..or a 95
361hp wheel. How did you come up with 450crank hp. Theres no accurate way to correlate the two as you may have put down 361whp on a dynojet while you take it to a mustang loaded dyno and you may make more like 300 whp. If you were on a dynojet when you made 361whp you can bet thats pretty close to a crank reading as they are unloaded and make very inflated numbers. How did ford advertise 380hp did they underrate it that much that it actually had 450hp? You said you kept the truck bone stock? I can see a 70hp increase with maybe a pulley , tune and exhaust bolt ons.
Eric Knight im saying you cant accurately correlate the wheel to crank . Especially since dynojet numbers are typically much higher than mustang dyno numbers. What matters more is using it as a tool to determine what you gained on the same dyno same day before during and after a tune.
lastfanstanding999 if you find one with low miles ill so go for it they are some of the most reliable cars same as the marauder and the crown victoria i see people put a beating in them ,put ugly 30 inch rims , never change the oil or service them and they still go 2000k+ miles its just hard finding one that is cared for and low miles here in texas
@ Andy Thanks, i really like mine dark grey, i replaced the headlights $40 and had a dude that does all the tint for the vehicles for Orange County, FL install acrylic tint dark $250, looks practically new but ive noticed the mechanical problems with the windows on that model lol
@Jurge Thanks thats great news, i got a great deal on it and the old fart who owned it (one owner) kept the records and had it services at the same dealer he bought it at for everything, theres one other Grand Marquis at the same place i bought it from which has the leather for 1k more though, and it has 68k miles on it, but im very happy with the one i got with cloth sets :)
I've also got a stock, black, 2001 Lightning with 102k miles. Love every bit of it. It's amazing how everybody says mannnnn nice truck I love these things. I live in Indiana but don't drive it in the winter. My dad and I drove all the down to NC and picked it up. I'm so greatful for being lucky enough to own one at 16. Purchased it at 15. I'm currently paying it off by towing a small lawn mowing trailer around my area and mowing. Trying my hardest to keep it clean, good condition, and stock. She has no rust except for some by the radiator. Im guessing its because the previous owner always took it to jiffy lube type shops and they didnt care where the coolant splashed and it ate away the paint. I do all work on it pretty much no matter what. Let me tell ya, it's a bitch to do anything to it in the engine bay. Everything is so damn close. Always been garage kept and still is! Great condition and hope to pay it off this summer and will start to save up for a 2003-2004 cobra. I totally reccomend getting one of these trucks but look out for rock chips. Mine has them bad and they pop up like chicken pocks. I will probably repaint it black some time.
I used to see this guy run his truck around Stone Oak in San Antonio. Believe I saw him several times on East Evans Rd. I am a runner and I could hear this thing from over a mile away coming through the hills. His truck is a looker cause it’s so classy compared to all the super modded Lightings out there. Miss those days.
My car is black as well and yeah a slight ding and scratches is easy to spot, and it absorb more heat as well, for me who live in the tropic area its absolute pain
This is my dream truck since Fast and Furious the first movie, when Paul Walker was driving the red lightning in the movie at the beginning. My favorite actor. I’m in the market now to buy one
cgarcia185 that’s loop 1604 I live off of Blanco and take that part of the loop and the exit sign you see for Blanco Road almost everyday of my life...
I worked at a Ford dealer when these were released. I wanted one then and I still do to this day!

xephael - yea but you don't by "sport" trucks or Ford's for a work truck that's what dodge is for. You can have all the torque Power and use it as a work truck with reliability
Hachi-Roku Performance Group Probably right, I bought a extended cab Silverado with 8' bed for 26k with tax off the lot
Hachi-Roku Performance Group , dodge is good. But chevy or gmc are made for heavy duty offroad work.
Nice truck I also like the Hardly Davidson edition too
These are really fun trucks to drive as the super charger noise makes it hard to keep your foot from being heavy. The biggest issue with these is the spark plugs blowing out of the head.
This is a gorgeous truck. I had a 98 v-6 extra cab with the Flareside bed and I put some custom wheels on it and a billet grille and some Lightning look a like headlights and clear corners. I loved that truck.
Nice truck man, Chevy and Ford love em
∵§ain†♣∀₦₲ξℜ∴ my has a Taurus 2013 black its nice!
HERPY DERPEDY blows hard
I put a built engine into a lightning and it only put out 580 to the wheels but it was the best sounding gas truck I've ever heard.
I still have my 01. I've owned it for 11 years now, 500 to the wheels from a JLP longblock and other goodies
@@daywlkr_svt I would rather keep the original motor in this truck. That JLP longblock will take away from your trucks value when these become a collector's item.
@@3500camarz I'm not selling mine ever so I'm not worried about that. And a friend of mine sold his built twin turbo recently and got $50k for it.
Sharp as tacks, nice work on that one. He didn't go overboard with modifications yet made it look very good.
I don't know what idiots disliked this video, but they probably drive a prius and all that power and noise scared them. Love the videos scotty keep up the great very informative content that I and a great amount of others have needed on many occasions.
No they drive 230hp 454 ss & are pissed that the lightning is a faster truck
Jason Wilborn same goes for the douches with 454s but their also chevy ignorant. This comes from a fellow 70 mach 1 owner
WarmSoftKitty so is a 70 queervett what relevance does that have here
No we just don’t like the shameless DeMuro theft.
My dad had one brand new back in 2001 when I was also 1 year old lol he had it modded to 500hp and almost nothing could touch that truck. It is the reason why I’m so into cars today and hopefully I can track it down and buy it back
Liking the 4K resolution!
My buddies older brother had one of these when I was in highschool. Cool truck
Nice truck
bought a 2001 a week ago, couldnt be more stoked :)
Nice truck but no body can forget the srt 10 dodge ram
The Dodge dealer techs sure can't...
I have an 03 sonic blue, great little truck, not so fast stock as some these newer vehicles, but all in all I love it
Black trucks matter😂
I aim to have a black Ford F-150, Ford is the best in Texas. lol
they have bigger drive shafts
I see you're playing the "Wax Card", typical liberal...
Robert Wood hahahahahahahaha... Love it..
Robert Wood 😂😂😂 thanks for the likes and comments
My first car was an F150. Not an SVT, but it had a triton V8 under the hood. Having a V8 at the age of 18 was great, and it ran like a charm.
Only problem I really had was when you left it alone for too long, the battery would die out.
Would've loved to take it around & go dashcamming with it, but my parents sold it before I could get the opportunity : (
Cool car, but do all of these owners live next to highways?
Love this truck my dad had this since 2001 when he was able to get his first car and got this truck it’s a white one and since still has it and it’ll be passed on to me can’t wait to use this truck I’ve been a passenger of it my whole life and will finally be behind the wheel
45 haters must be chevy guys 🤣😂
I've always wondered if the 1991-1992 GMC Syclones were faster than these, considering that they were built on a smaller S10/Blazer chassis, and fitted with a turbocharged V6.
Me 2
Syclone will beat it in a drag race but not top speed
Doubtful...it was made in the 90's.
Syclone is faster in the quarter
Archie Bunker 2008 tundra blows them all away.
Its time ford brings back the ford lightning back for a few more yrs
Keeping things stock is awesome! Hate tuner crap!
Kenneth White I would tube chassis front and rear then throw a AWD GTR drivtrain in it with a Alpha16x turbo kit then go demolish everything lol.
Kenneth White what’s wrong with tuner crap? Bet my car in my thumbnail picture would romp on this tuck in the 1/4 mile. It looks completely stock and so does the motor but the internals are legit.
You can probably tune the hell out of an F40, but you just don't, some things are better stock
Michael C your car ain't worth shit if you have all crap done to it. This will be a classic truck and an unmolested one is hard to find
I have the dyno sheets if you would like to see them.
Eric Knight im saying you cant accurately correlate the wheel to crank . Especially since dynojet numbers are typically much higher than mustang dyno numbers. What matters more is using it as a tool to determine what you gained on the same dyno same day before during and after a tune.
I have a 2003 SXT Lightning. No supercharger, but I love the body style.
Scotty, how can you find anything in that garage?
You'll never have any fun in there with all that clutter.
Congrats Scotty on the Million subs!
Hey Scotty ...question !
2000 Grand Marquis
good or bad ?
lastfanstanding999 if you find one with low miles ill so go for it they are some of the most reliable cars same as the marauder and the crown victoria i see people put a beating in them ,put ugly 30 inch rims , never change the oil or service them and they still go 2000k+ miles its just hard finding one that is cared for and low miles here in texas
@ Andy Thanks, i really like mine dark grey,
i replaced the headlights $40 and had a dude that does all the tint for the vehicles for Orange County, FL install acrylic tint dark $250,
looks practically new but ive noticed the mechanical problems with the windows on that model lol
@Jurge Thanks thats great news, i got a great deal on it and the old fart who owned it (one owner) kept the records and had it services at the same dealer he bought it at for everything,
theres one other Grand Marquis at the same place i bought it from which has the leather for 1k more though, and it has 68k miles on it, but im very happy with the one i got with cloth sets :)
i think other Grand Marguis is still there, the one with leather and 68k miles,
if i had the money id probably get it too lol
same color dark grey !
lastfanstanding999 dammn how much are they asking for the leather one?
Cool truck but the license plate starts off as GM lol
I used to see this guy run his truck around Stone Oak in San Antonio. Believe I saw him several times on East Evans Rd. I am a runner and I could hear this thing from over a mile away coming through the hills. His truck is a looker cause it’s so classy compared to all the super modded Lightings out there. Miss those days.
That guy is from San Antonio
Yep looks like he was driving on 1604 at the end there.
Just saw a Lightning yesterday and thought to myself they need to bring those trucks back. A 2019 SVT Lightning would be kickass.
so why is it worth $32000
Bud Lee the whole SVT package
It cost $32,000 for all the work he had to do to it.
Did you read the title? Keyword, was! Brand new in 2001, this truck was worth 32000. The fastest production truck until the srt10 truck came out.
Bud Lee they are still worth a pretty penny since it’s a rare truck
It maybe worth 3200$
WOW, what a treat, Scotty !!!
"Black can be challenging" yeah right...
Shiny black shows every ding and every speck of dirt is what he's saying. lighter colors show those things much less.
LMAO! True! We have a blazing sun over my part of the world so all my rides are white.
You do know,,, technically,,, black is not a color,,,. !!! It is a shade,,,. So is white,,,. !!!
4:50 Holy shit this dude lives in San Antonio right by me, my house is about a half mile behind that church lmao
Blake Brink visit him
Same here. I recognized the area. I also saw a black lightning the other day, so could possibly have been this truck!
cgarcia185 that’s loop 1604 I live off of Blanco and take that part of the loop and the exit sign you see for Blanco Road almost everyday of my life...
Fermin Hidalgo I mean I could if ever responds to this, I doubt Scotty would give out his personal info.
He’s my next door neighbor lol
