I have one of these and have used it many times over the last 2 1/2 years. I love it and it works great in my 6x10 cargo trailer/camper conversion. It starts on the first try everytime. I get about 3 1/2 hours or so on low out of a cannister. I bought mine on eBay from S Korea and it arrived in about 10 days.
I love this video! Thank you for making it so peaceful with no music and a gentle pace. This is one compact heater I want to get. Cost is about $75 online. Butane refills are much cheaper at Asian supermarkets like 99Ranch Market, Mitsuwa, Marukai, Lion, etc. I used to pay $4 for 4 cans!!! Now it has gone up a bit but not $3 per can. Don't buy this anywhere else but in Asian markets. Looks like a very effective heater and I have tons of butane cans sitting around for my butane stove. Wonderful small heater. By the way, Costco was selling tiny carbon monoxide detectors with a powerful sound! Easy to mount, small size.

I find that boiling a liter of water and pouring it into a Nalgene bottle which I then throw into my bed/sleeping bag works wonders. The small amount of stove use heats up my camper, the hot water bottle keeps me warm all night. It’s a good system. Also, I always run my vent fan during the day to evacuate any moisture to avoid mold build up.
In cold weather I use a 12 volt electric lap blanket (Amazon) and plug it into a deep cycle marine boat battery. I rigged up a 12 volt cigarette lighter type port for the connection. I put the electric blanket under the air mattress, so it keeps the mattress warm. In really cold weather I use 2 electric blankets under there.
Wow, here in New Zealand we pay about $7 NZ dollars for a 3 pack of those cans. I have 2 of those heaters and they last just under 4 hours on high. They were so useful when our heat pump remote died till the replacement arrived. Glad you have the window open and the CO sensor using those in such a small space.. they give out awesome heat but also gobble up your oxygen.
I got one and use it in my truck cap too. Also have used the Lil Buddy for years. I never sleep with either on, but great for knocking out the cold in a few minutes.
Thanks for showing us this heater. It's just what I'm going to need in my van but you should tell people that when they let the butane get below 40°F it doesn't work very well and stops working at freezing temps
@@TrailMedic911 so then what is a good set up of heat for the backseat of my truck as i would be sleeping in it. I do have a jump starter/power inverter with AC outlets and my truck also has an AC outlet and 2 cigerate outlets. Its a 2015 silverado 2500HD. Pretty new to truck living. Any info you can give me also would be great.
It's small size is appealing, and being able to use it to knock the chill off when necessary. when the temperature calls for it makes it perfect for my application. I already have a butane stove and am pretty happy with it. and being as the little Buddy heaters are fueled by propane. it would eliminate having to have two fuel sorces. I'm definitely going to look into ordering one.
Butane cylinders are not as easy to find in my area. Yesterday my local WalMart had only one damaged butane cylinder, but over one hundred one pound disposable propane tanks.
I've been searching for so long for a compact heater and only found the same and again the same Chinese crap. It was like there was only one type in the entire market. Your video was the salvation, haha. After at least one week of searching I didn't feel like buying anything.... One hour after watching your video I had ordered it. Kovea should pay you for making excellent advertising for their heater :)
From my experience camping with butane stoves, butane doesn't like to burn at temperatures below about 45°. Part of the problem is the pressure in the cans get's too low to change the liquid butane into a gas. So a butane heater probably won't do its job very well when it is needed.
@@TrailMedic911 It will work fine at 30° and a little below but that is why he mentioned below 45° here in Canada it would not do the trick for winter camping but in parts of the US it will be a great little heater for the back of a truck.
this kovea heater has a heat conducting plate that the fuel can rests on, it conducts heat from the burner to the can to keep it warm enough so the fuel will be able to vaporize in cold weather. better quality butane stoves also have heat conductors, typically the $40 and below butane stoves don't have them.
These heaters cause a lot of condensation! And needs major clearance for fire prevention. As state park camp host, I have electricity so 2 500W mini ceramic heaters now [1 over bed in back & 1 up front in galley] & we stay comfy cozy. Says not to use extension cords but I have 1800 watt extension cords coming off 30 amp-->120v step down & heaters work great! Amazon has the BEST PRICE for a case of propane for cook stoves & heaters, less than $2.50 per can... $3 x 30 = $90 a month for heat?!?!?!?!? That's what it cost when I was in sticks & bricks! Propane heat should be for backup only, not for daily use. Too expensive on SSI & too much condensation. Happy trails, Ms. CharLee
They do sell a Mr. Buddy Jr., with a thermostat that regulates the heat. Also what I like about the Mr. Buddies is that it detects when oxygen levels are seriously depleted and shuts itself off! Also Mr. Buddies have a "off" automatic tilt switch in case your pet, or you moving, knocks it on to an area that could ignite.
@@baudyman And if its not too cold. Those cannisters frost up and stop working when its cold. I have a little stove that runs on these butane cannisters. It really does not have to be that cold for them not to work.
BY the time the o2 shuts off if low oxygen You're already dead from Carbon monoxide Not fun waking up dead.. They are inefficient to the tune of under 50% More efficient heaters can be had that are over 99% efficient
I found evert Mr. Buddy I've tried, no matter the size, to be an incredible pain in the ass. They are all very finicky to light, particularly the Mr. Buddy Jr. That one is also *very* tippy to the point I had to mount it to a square of plywood. I finally gave up and gave them all away. If I had known you then I would have given them to you.
I bought Kovea heater from Sierras Trading post on sale. Heating area looks almost same size maybe larger and much larger to store butan canister. It is very hot heater but fuel consumption is high also. I like Colman propane heater with 1 lb canister for personal use outdoor due to longer lasting and also refillable from m 20lbs tank. My Kovea heater lasts 5 hrs Vs 8 hrs on Colman.
Trail Medic, I found this one...KOVEA CUBIC Portable Butane Gas Heater with Pouch KGH-2010 Apparently it can be turned down low enough to last 12 hours, it's also very small at around 6.9"x 6.3"x 6.4" and all stainless steel. I've ordered one anyway as I do leave my other one (same as your previous one from China) on throughout the night in my van, on low it only lasts for 4 hours so I waken up cold to replace the gas canister. Of course I have a window and vent cracked open and two alarms, (carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide) Plus two fire extinguishers at hand. I really like my eberspacher diesel heater but it's hard on my batteries and driving or running the engine to charge is counter productive, using fuel for heater and engine as well as extra unnecessary wear on my van. I purchase those butane canisters by the 100's so less than £1.20 each ($1.35). In my area at the moment, a large 7kg bottle works out more expensive per kg, strange as that sounds it's true.
I believe that is the same heater that I have and I think you’ll like it. It works great I’m the back of my truck or a tent. I haven’t used it in my van, but I’m sure it would do just fine there too.👍
@@TrailMedic911 Mine is different from the one in the video. Yes, KOVEA have some great gear, rather expensive but Good; you definitely get what you pay for from them 👍
@@JazzFunkNobby1964 Amazon, I just lookout for the cheapest deal. Buying in bulk usually gets me it cheaper. Orders have been difficult lately so I couldn't recommend any at the moment, postage issues and some price hikes in the last few weeks.
Mine works great in my little off road teardrop. I run it for about 15 minutes at night on a shelf and maybe 5-10 in the morning if needed. Before using it in really cold weather, I tuck a canister of Butane under my coat for a while to get it warm.
That should be just right for my self-made teardrop camper trailer. I made a wood burning stove from a 5 lb propane tank, but this would be more convenient. Thanks for showing.
I have been using a small Coleman catalytic heater for years, uses the green bottles, doesn’t create useless humidity, it’s a shame it has been discontinued
I had a solution for your worries,.......tell him to put a mask on that has a tube direct conected with the exterior,...then he is at last safe! ......but after minute 7,then there was a seagul flying over my head,...have a nice day.
If you go to your local Asian Grocery store you will find 4 packs of those butane canisters at a lower price. A few months ago I was paying $7.49 for a 4 pack. NOW they are $8.99 for a 4 pack Would have really liked for you to come back and let us know for sure how many hours it performed and also the starting temp in the truck and what it was after say 30 min of use.
The total burn time was approx. 8 hrs. It was 4 hrs on low. Then 30 mins on Hi and 2.5 hrs on medium the next morning. The temp was 34-35 that evening and 23-24 the next morning. It toasted up to 65-70 easily that night. The next morning I ran it on high until it was back around 65 or so then turned it down. On a side note, all the condensation was gone the next morning after a hour or so. Thanks for Watching!
I have one of these that I use to heat up equipment that I need to work on outside in freezing temps. For example, the auger froze up on my snowblower and I just pointed this at the auger metal for 15 min to get it to unfreeze. Also nice to take the chill out of the air in my well-ventilated shed in the winter. Probably nice to use in a hunting blind or ice fishing tent, provided you have good ventilation. Not sure I would trust leaving it on in a small sleeping area while I'm sleeping, even with a carbon monoxide detector, but they're handy little things and very affordable. Both to purchase and to operate - you can find the heater in some places for under $80 and I buy CRV or RVR butane cans in bulk at around $2.50/can.
My and my mate did a lot of hunting and his van heaters packed in and it was so cold in there so we had a bright idea and fitted a small gas heater behind where we was sitting but we left it on while traveling home and when we went around the roundabout a massive flame shot out as us from behind haha which really warmed us up, but we decided that we not to do that again as a bit dangerous pmsl
My only complaint with Butane heaters is that they don't like to function if started in below freezing. As temperature goes down so does the pressure inside the canister and they require a minimum pressure to operate. Propane is similar but is more forgiving at low temperatures. Above freezing or if used once temps are up they work great.
I have the Big Buddy heater for various situations. Supposedly these new ceramic heaters are so efficient that carbon monoxide poisoning is not a threat. Not sure I believe that, but they also say that they are capable of removing all of the oxygen from the air and that is a danger. I suspect that danger increases in a small, confined area. So ventilation is still important. Happy camping.
I am glad you mentioned that ventilation is a must when using gas heating in cinfined spaces, people have died from asphyxiation using these,. Don't sleep with them on,
You are absolutely correct! Never sleep with the heater on. Plus, I always have a carbon monoxide detector and a smoke alarm with me when truck camping.
My dog and i use an electronic stove top heating coil ran off our solar battery bank ... And we use it for cooking on when fire restrictions are in place ...

I wouldn’t throw around “perfect” until you’ve made a portable Chinese Diesel Heater system. Combustion outside the rig. Clean, warm and DRY air. That’s perfect
It would be interesting to create a heat retaining tile or stone to sit above the heater. Would that then reflect back some heat a little longer, after you turn the heater off?
That's called a "thermal mass" and anything from rock, tiles, or other heat absorbing material could work. It's a theory used in "passive solar heating" designs where the sun comes through the insulated glass and then heats the bricks in the floor, wall, etc. While it will absorb heat and then reflect it back into the room after the heat source is removed (i.e. propane), it WILL ABSORB heat into the box you build and not heat the area as fast. Better to insulate the windows of that truck to keep from losing heat through those cold areas.
And boom, there goes that rock smashing the glass and setting your bag on fire. 😂😂😂😂 Some people. Why not just put a log on it say ½ hr before it goes out.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you! Started car living 4 months ago and it's becoming quite expensive to leave the car heat on during the cold winter nights to stay warm. I have a sleeping bag and blankets but sometimes it's just too cold. The Mr. Buddy heater is just too big and I'm kinda worried to use something liked that in a car, so I haven't gotten one. This will be perfect! Thank you for this review!
I really love the size but living full time in a van the butane would be far too expensive. But this looks really close to the Wave heaters. Thanks for great video. Stay warm!
Thanks for sharing this video. Did you come up with condensation issues with this butane heater? Since it puts out a lot of heat I suppose you do not have to use it for too long for 3 season use, maybe 15 to 20 minutes would work. In that period of time, would there be condensation buildup you think?
@@TrailMedic911 Glad to know it would not be noticeable in any way. I could certainly use this heater in my Tear-Drop Trailer then. Thank you very much.
@@marlenemartel9649 I have a Runaway Range Runner 6x8 "square drop" camper and I bought this heater. It's well made, and very reliable, usually lighting the first time. In my Runaway with two people, during a 30 degree night, there was a lot of moisture even with both windows slightly open - and using a carbon dioxide detector. It is half the size of a standard Mr. Buddy heater - BUT - unlike the Mr. Buddy heater, there are no O2 or tip over sensors on the Cupid unit . Use with care 🙂
@@male42nfree Thank you very much for your reply. It is always nice to hear what people have to say from real experience. And no O2 sensor is something to take notice of. Thanks and have a good one!
Those gas canisters are about a pound each here in uk half the price I think .nice little fire keep you warm over bite my little stove has a adapter to run off bottle would half the price again if that connected to a bottle
It would have been nice if you told us what the temperature was running the heater compared to the outside temperature and just exactly how long it worked on that one canister. We have no idea of how efficient it was.
Love mine! Gave my Buddy Jr to my daughter because this makes it obsolete. Wish the burn time was longer per canister but I only use it to heat up my Tough Stuff Alpha in the morning or when going to bed so 2 days per canister.
I have the same type of toyota truck, and even with the big buddy heater, i've froze a few nights where temperatures got down to zero. my next heater is going to be a diesel heater mounted to the exterior of the truck with a tire step, and have it ducted through the window. along with a solar panel set up, and i'll be good to go. as these trucks with toppers don't have much space.
I think this is a really cool item. However, I would be concerned about ventilation and inhalation of fumes, and quite frankly I would be afraid to sleep with it burning in such a small space. And even though we might think we wouldn't leave it burning all night, the reality is it would be very easy to accidently fall asleep with the item on simply because you're so warm and comfortable. Another thing is for the cost of all the butane and the amount of time that you get from one tank, by the time you buy all those canisters, you might be better off with a small solar generator power station setup with the ability to generate your own power and then you could use one of the 12 volt or USB electric blankets or electric mattress pads. Just a thought.
Wow! This look like a buyer to me and will be looking for one. I will still check the carbon monoxide that may be extremely dangerous while sleeping. Need to buy a monoxide detector. Thank you for this video. 👍

Find an asian store. I recently bought a 4 pack of those canisters for $8 at a small asian store. Asians like to cook on those small stoves fired by those canisters so chances are you can get them cheaper in an asian store. That said, this heater has the same problems a buddy heater has: it produces a lot of moisture. Not so much a problem in the bed of a pickup, but very much a problem in any other small setting from teardrop trailer to a van. I'd always invest the money for a ducted heater. Of course they are expensive so it's a matter of budget. I put a propex heater in my little offroad camper and you can run that thing for a few months on a 20lb tank. Best thing is: no burner in the cabin, no extra moisture in the cabin. Sips electricity and gas. Ran it in Yellowstone for 3 weeks last year (we had snow) and it took 3/4 of a gallon of propane for the entire 3 weeks at 65 degrees during the night and a bit higher before sleeping. Costs a bit over $1k though - so it's a budget issue. BTW: that carbon monoxide alarm is not going to prevent you from a carbon dioxide death. Chances are you wake up before you suffocate from CO2, but all these heaters put out CO2 and you need good ventilation. So everyone who was afraid that masks would increase your CO2 levels - never, ever buy one of those butane/propane heaters and use it in an enclosed area, because those heaters will definitely increase CO2 levels a lot more than a 10 pack of masks on your face.
The main reason the US stopped using butane for heating is the low vapor pressure. If the propane canister is allowed to get cold the pressure is so low it will not operate a heater. How will you keep the canisters warm until you need to use it in really cold weather? I was happy when we switched to propane so I did not have to go outside and build a fire under the butane tank in order to heat the house.
Yeah we had something like it back in the 1970s until our cow dog lifted his leg too many times on it; we went back to the fireplace after that. A burning fire smelled much better.
I’d look into a technique I used in the early 70’s….. Called pressurizing the cap….. I believe I drilled a hole thru the cap in upper corner. Placed a abs T : can’t remember how I secured ( thought it was threaded inside) … so the air passes thru the outside along the truck cap, sucking air from inside cap…. This blocking dust from getting in.. always stick a rag inside the tube when u don’t want to use….. Worked great for going down dusty roads heading fishing….. easier to draw? In an emergency situation the humidity is a plus for me as I have a atmospheric generator that makes water from air. The greater the humidity the higher the water generation. Win, win. Not the best choice in every situation but definitely an option depending on circumstances.
I use those butane cans for my stove in the semi. I get about 12 cooks out of ‘em. I have found that Walmart and academy often don’t have em but the truck stops do but at a higher price.
I’ve had one of these for a few years. The can is kept nice and warm by the heater itself. The case it came in is kinda junk though. But the heater is durable enough.
There is another reason to keep a window slightly open apart from the obvious CO danger. Gas burners also produce water vapour during the combustion process which could lead to condensation issues.
Coleman makes one smaller. I’ve had mine for years. I don’t know the model number but it’s round and has a wire stand. It’s never failed me in almost 15 years.
They're called catalytic heaters and they run on propane. They had a Blackcat model and a Sportcat. Think they are now discontinued but I see them on ebay.
I own one, but at 10 or 15 degrees its not much help, so being old i looked for a crawl-thru, there is one company that makes them, after having this installed i bought a remote start for my truck, the heat from the truck makes it warm when turning in and in the morning when its freezing i hit the remote start an go back to sleep for a few, nothing like getting out of the down bag to warm temps.
I’ve got one. The problem was just way too much heat. I was having to turn it on & off every 5 minutes. This heater set on low keeps the truck camper at around 70 when it’s 32 outside. My camper shell has no insulation so that’s pretty good!
May be if you run it wide open and it’s very cold weather. I got more time than that. I ran it on medium to low for most of the time. It still provided plenty of heat for my small space.
Thank you for your video, absolutely nothing wrong with it so please don't take it personally....but I try to use my butane cook stove at 5 Celsius and the canister has issues. This won't do much good when the temp dips below 0 Celsius. It looks like a perfect option for a tent, but with moisture and cold, it's unfortunately not as useful as a diesel heater. Thank you for showing it though, because I am sure it has its uses.
Those Butane canisters get very cold when venting butane. I've shelved my single burner butane stove because it took forever to get a boiling pot of water at outdoor temperatures that were quite temperate (45 to 65 degree F). I've seen someone use a soda can to build a heat exchanger to take heat from the flame of the butane stove to warm the underside of the butane can, and this did help. Not sure if this heater has the same kind of accommodation.
Do yourself a favor like I did with my did my Ford F150. By a rubber Matt that is about 1/4 to 3/8 thick. It will give you some insulation from the bed.
Awesome information! Also make sure your carbon monoxide detector is lower than where you're taking in air as in mouth and nose!! Carbon monoxide sinks

When you use propane or any other open flame type heaters in a closed space, always open the window just a bit for fresh air coming in!
It works!
Wow, Jacinda allows heat in NZ?
@@szaki Ran a mr buddy heater in my house after a power outage on a 20 pound lp tank. When the o2 drops the flame goes out no need to open a window.
@@xrayron1 A tent or Van is a much smaller space, so CO2 can go up much faster.
Not to play around with!
Buy butane cans at Korean markets. Usually, $1.25 to $1.75 each. Every blue moon, you can find them for less in multi packs.
Thanks, I’ve heard they sell them at a good price. 👍
Thanks for Watching!
I got one and use it in my truck cap too. Also have used the Lil Buddy for years. I never sleep with either on, but great for knocking out the cold in a few minutes.
I sure like it.
Thanks for watching!
I use the Buddy heaters, but for safety I keep a window cracked, to be sure. 🤠
Thanks for showing us this heater. It's just what I'm going to need in my van but you should tell people that when they let the butane get below 40°F it doesn't work very well and stops working at freezing temps
Maybe I should do a follow up video explaining that and how it can still be used.
I use a forced air 110v space heater with a Jackery power bank to avoid using any gas while I sleep. But these are nice too.
The disadvantage to butane or LP heaters is that they put off moisture and add to the condensation.
Thanks for Watching!
Would what your using be a decent set up for sleeping then in my back seat of my truck? Please explain what you can.
That’s how I use mine and it works great!

South Korea makes excellent quality products..
Yes, I’ve noticed that too.
i use a mini dehumidifier with my little buddy running, holds about 12oz. water and helps clean the air.
Wow, great idea. I’ll have to check into that. Thanks! 👍
From my experience camping with butane stoves, butane doesn't like to burn at temperatures below about 45°. Part of the problem is the pressure in the cans get's too low to change the liquid butane into a gas. So a butane heater probably won't do its job very well when it is needed.
I’ve used it below 30 F with no problem
@@TrailMedic911 It will work fine at 30° and a little below but that is why he mentioned below 45° here in Canada it would not do the trick for winter camping but in parts of the US it will be a great little heater for the back of a truck.
this kovea heater has a heat conducting plate that the fuel can rests on, it conducts heat from the burner to the can to keep it warm enough so the fuel will be able to vaporize in cold weather. better quality butane stoves also have heat conductors, typically the $40 and below butane stoves don't have them.
Learned about that with my butane stoves.
@@marzsit9833 Oh that's interesting!
CharLee
I actually use a diesel heater in my Van.
I’ll have to check out the Mr Buddy Jr.
Thanks👍
Only problem with the low oxygen detection is it won't run at altitude. Great heater if you're a flat lander
@@baudyman And if its not too cold. Those cannisters frost up and stop working when its cold. I have a little stove that runs on these butane cannisters. It really does not have to be that cold for them not to work.
BY the time the o2 shuts off if low oxygen
You're already dead from Carbon monoxide
Not fun waking up dead..
They are inefficient to the tune of under 50%
More efficient heaters can be had that are over 99% efficient
I found evert Mr. Buddy I've tried, no matter the size, to be an incredible pain in the ass. They are all very finicky to light, particularly the Mr. Buddy Jr. That one is also *very* tippy to the point I had to mount it to a square of plywood. I finally gave up and gave them all away. If I had known you then I would have given them to you.
I bought Kovea heater from Sierras Trading post on sale. Heating area looks almost same size maybe larger and much larger to store butan canister. It is very hot heater but fuel consumption is high also. I like Colman propane heater with 1 lb canister for personal use outdoor due to longer lasting and also refillable from m
20lbs tank.
My Kovea heater lasts 5 hrs Vs 8 hrs on Colman.
I’ve never seen a larger Kovea heaters. I’ll have to check it out.

Trail Medic, I found this one...KOVEA CUBIC Portable Butane Gas Heater with Pouch KGH-2010
Apparently it can be turned down low enough to last 12 hours, it's also very small at around 6.9"x 6.3"x 6.4" and all stainless steel.

If you go to your local Asian Grocery store you will find 4 packs of those butane canisters at a lower price. A few months ago I was paying $7.49 for a 4 pack. NOW they are $8.99 for a 4 pack
Would have really liked for you to come back and let us know for sure how many hours it performed and also the starting temp in the truck and what it was after say 30 min of use.

It still produces C02 . Need ventilation. My concern is if there's low oxygen and if it shits off when tipped over.
I’ll have to check on the tip over shut off.
I always make sure there is plenty of ventilation and use a carbon monoxide detector.
Thanks, sounds like you like this little heater too! 👍
Remember safety first! 👍
@@TrailMedic911 yes safety first but we give it a go as was a good idea until we was fried by the flame haha
My only complaint with Butane heaters is that they don't like to function if started in below freezing. As temperature goes down so does the pressure inside the canister and they require a minimum pressure to operate. Propane is similar but is more forgiving at low temperatures. Above freezing or if used once temps are up they work great.
Yep, that why I keep the canister warm. We’ve been doing this when backpacking for years. I keep a canister in the sleeping bag with me over night.
By propane then, or a butane propane mix. Why do folk make this so hard.
You could always sick the canister up you ar………
I have the Big Buddy heater for various situations. Supposedly these new ceramic heaters are so efficient that carbon monoxide poisoning is not a threat. Not sure I believe that, but they also say that they are capable of removing all of the oxygen from the air and that is a danger. I suspect that danger increases in a small, confined area. So ventilation is still important. Happy camping.
Safety First!
Always ventilate, use a Carbon Monoxide Detector & Smoke Alarm.

I wouldn’t throw around “perfect” until you’ve made a portable Chinese Diesel Heater system. Combustion outside the rig. Clean, warm and DRY air. That’s perfect
Yes sir, the diesel heaters are very nice too. They are bigger and more complex. But they are nice!!!!
They’re a pain to install.
Chinese heater 😂😂😂
Thats a nice little heater! Wow. I have my truck with cap and thinking of truck-camping... this would be something I'd probably use.
It’s a nice little heater!
It would be interesting to create a heat retaining tile or stone to sit above the heater.
Would that then reflect back some heat a little longer, after you turn the heater off?
That’s an idea! 👍
I think that's a great idea!
If you covered the windows and insulated that shell you could heat it with a candle…….
And boom, there goes that rock smashing the glass and setting your bag on fire. 😂😂😂😂 Some people. Why not just put a log on it say ½ hr before it goes out.
Such a great way to enjoy life after retirement! Have fun out there sir

Nice looking hearer. It's a shame you can not use a bigger propane tank to get longer run times.
True but it only runs on butane. I don’t think they make a bigger tank or adaptor
I found an adapter
Yeah Mr Buddy can be hooked up to a grill size tank with a connected hose. Runs lot longer.

Yes it always puts out moisture. However, your breathing will probably put out more than it does.

The problem with this vs a propane heater, is when you really need heat, it will be too cool for the butane to work
True the extreme cold does cause it to not burn as well.
Check this out. 👍

Yes, a good thought. Using both the heater while awake and a 12-volt blanket while sleeping is excellent. 👍
Yeah those heated mattress pads are the best. Heat rises right up into a blanket.

👍
The main reason the US stopped using butane for heating is the low vapor pressure. If the propane canister is allowed to get cold the pressure is so low it will not operate a heater. How will you keep the canisters warm until you need to use it in really cold weather? I was happy when we switched to propane so I did not have to go outside and build a fire under the butane tank in order to heat the house.
I keep a canister in the sleeping bag with me so it’s nice and warm in the morning.
Yeah we had something like it back in the 1970s until our cow dog lifted his leg too many times on it; we went back to the fireplace after that. A burning fire smelled much better.
It’s a pretty nice little heater. 👍
Have anyone heard or seen these heaters explode? Either this one or Mr. Buddy?
Never! They have a great safety record.
The neat thing about heaters that use the green propane tanks, is that you can refill them w/ a BBQ tank.
Yes, if you do it right and are very careful.

Is there no concern for co2 poisoning with the fumes with this heater in a small truck bed??
Always safety first!!!!

I wonder if there is a way to do it without drilling a hole in the shell itself. Maybe going through the front window. I’ll have to look into that. 👍
This is exactly what I've been looking for! Thank you :)
I think you’ll like it! 👍
In an emergency situation the humidity is a plus for me as I have a atmospheric generator that makes water from air. The greater the humidity the higher the water generation. Win, win. Not the best choice in every situation but definitely an option depending on circumstances.
I keep mine in the van as a back up to the diesel heater. It doesn’t need electricity.
I use those butane cans for my stove in the semi. I get about 12 cooks out of ‘em. I have found that Walmart and academy often don’t have em but the truck stops do but at a higher price.
I’ve heard Asian store sell them a a good price. I’m going to check it out. 👍

There is another reason to keep a window slightly open apart from the obvious CO danger.
Gas burners also produce water vapour during the combustion process which could lead to condensation issues.

I normally keep the canister in the sleeping bag with me. That way it’s warm and works great in the morning when it’s cold. 👍
I have same heater....I would not have anything plastic close as it will melt...it works well in our 12ft RV....Australia
Hey Down under! Your right, Safety First!
I have not had any issues. But cold does effect butane.
Thanks for Watching!
so if you just run it for an hour to heat it up and then another hour around midnight, then another hour in am. that lasts 2 days.
Yep, I normally get a weekend trip out of a canister. Unless the weather is really bad, then I’m camped out inside the camper! 😇
Thanks for Watching!
Do yourself a favor like I did with my did my Ford F150.
By a rubber Matt that is about 1/4 to 3/8 thick. It will give you some insulation from the bed.
Yep, I have a 1/2 inch rubber pad on the floor then at night I put a Z-Pad on the floor for added padding. 👍
How about a 2nd/dual battery with power inverter run small electric heater ?
They consume power quickly. It would take several 100 amp hours to run a small heater for even a few hours.
You neglected to say how much the heater costs or where to order one.
I put a link in the description. 👍
I get a pack of butane cans at Sam’s club for 5 something dollars. I use them for my stove in my 18 wheeler truck.
I’ve heard the Asian stoves have a good price too. 👍
I used a Colman butane stove. I get a pack of 5 cans at Sam’s club for about 5.98 . Again 5 cans for less then 6 dollars.
Awesome information! Also make sure your carbon monoxide detector is lower than where you're taking in air as in mouth and nose!! Carbon monoxide sinks
👍
Carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air as is natural gas. Propane gas is heavier than air and can settle and accumulate at ground level👍
Good deal about your safety protocols.
Thank you!
Safety First!!!!!!! 👍
Great Review, thank you for taking the time to share this with us. Just FYI, we probably don’t need to see the cutting away of tape and packing material from the shipping container. You lose viewership when People see you ripping through the tape and The unboxing of the product. Hope that helps
Thanks! I’ve had a lot of the same type of comment.
Thanks for Watching!
I'd make a Crisko candle with the crisko being in a metal paint can, windows slightly cracked for fresh air
Yep, that would provide some heat & light for you.
