One thing that is often not understood by passengers, is that you’re not going to be able to open the cabin doors when the aircraft is at altitude. The air pressure in the cabin helps seal the doors closed (depending on aircraft), even if that weren’t the case, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to push open a door like that with such wind speed, and you’ll set off the chute. Those are only some of the issues you’d face.
Your cabin crew is trained on how to handle these unexpected situtations and they are trained on how to open and close the plane door and how to open the plane door that way too

Airplane mechanic here it’s heavy planes have to be at certain weights in order to fly many planes get a procedure that we do called a weight and balance. Another reason, opening a door of a passenger plane is no easy feat as the plane at high heights is heavily pressurized also not to ignore the fact that at their usually flying height their is little to no oxygen outside the plane.
@@ULTIMATEMEGATRONHATER yep, people always forget *pressurization* exist, opening that door wouldn't be like opening the door to your house, you will literally get sucked out of the plane, it's the reason why planes without pressurized cabin cannot fly high and when they do all aircraft personnel inside would probably had to wear oxygen mask
@@bullettime8760 no , if it's flying below 10,000 ft you can open the door there is less pressure and you won't get sucked out or kill anyone. If you had an auto opening parachute, as long as you don't hit the airframe on your way out you will be fine.
Well, those are both also true, but the main reason is because you cant just have 300+ untrained passengers jump out of an airliner because a lot of people (if not most) would likely die. Not only that. Almost nobody would know how to use the parachute (trust me its not as easy as it looks) And they would need to check EVERY parachute before EVERY flight which would be very cost and time intensive. It would also put the plane company in big trouble insurance wise if sometimes fails, which is way more likely than a crash itself.

@Fox Mulder Learning how to drive is something important and still alot of people really suck at it but it needs to be done in order for our modern live to work. Parachuting on the other hand is something that a everyday person wont need and the chances that an unexperienced injures yourself while Parachutingare is statistically higher than while driving. In the RNZAF there is a special type of injury only attained by paratroopers when they hit the side of the fuselage of the plane they jump from. Its called "kissing the kiwi" as you smash face first into the kiwi roundel on the side of the plane. Although the RNZAF no longer has paratroopers.
Because in the event of a roll over the bus driver could have to unlatch every single student they have, also most the time in a rollover they don't fully roll just fall on the side and it's a slow roll at that, also seat belts can do more damage than protection in some situations especially for small children, not including delaying or out right preventing from escaping. My mom is a bus driver and I also grew up racing Dirt oval karts, we had two kinds Open karts which don't have a roll cage or seat belts and champ karts which do have a roll cage and racing harnesses, open karts don't have open wheels but flips do happen and in the event of a flip it's actually safer for you to be ejected than it is to have the 200 to 300 pound kart land upside-down on top of you vs the champ karts which are open wheel and have the roll cage if you were ejected then the roll cage could do a lot of damage, some cages are even designed in a way to where they won't stay completely upside-down but roll to the side or potentially back to the wheels in some senerios, and these aren't Go Carts you buy from Walmart or any other store that do maybe 30 if you remove the governor, it's more like 60 to 120 mph depending on the track, and class, it's limited by age and weight too, and for lower classes they use restrictor plates to slow the Kart down especially for younger kids. Now fire retardant suits, neck braces, racing helment(not your standard motorcycle helmets, they are only designed to take one hit and be thrown away), some even wear chest protectors with and without rib protection at all ages and classes. I've been ejected, I've seen people get ejected, it's the safer alternative, don't get me wrong you could still get hurt and in the event of flipping it's not going to feel good and you will have brusing and maybe even a couple broken bones but deaths in competition Karting are rare, I've only seen/heard of it happening once in my life and that was a total freak accident that in hindsight could of been avoided but that's along story that involves a track trying to have telephone style light pole removed for years in fear of it being hit but because it was about 15 yards off their property they couldn't really do anything about it until something happened. Sorry for the mostly completely off topic rant lol ADHD kinda took over.
Are you sure the plane doors aren't magically and impossibly hovering 30 feet from the fuselage? I feel like that'd make more sense, I mean that's what I thought
The Pilot will press a button that will make the back and middle of the plane to seperate so yes, the seats don't have parachutes but the middle and back part of the airplane have one so when the pilot clicks the button he is saving the passengers but bc the very front which where the pilot is doesn't have a parachute so the pilots saving other people's live but himself I hope this helps!❤
THIS IS THE SECOND AIRPLANE SHORT IVE GOTTEN IN A ROW FROM YOUR CHANNEL. AND I JUST GOT ON THE REGULAR SHORTS PAGE. (The first one was about how to survive a plane crash btw) ZACH; WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY?!
It's also a weight problem Aircraft engineers will do anything for more efficiency and parachutes are just dead weight Also the fact that a lot of people on the airplane are inexperienced with parachutes and in the hands of them could be a hazard (there's a reason why you spend weeks training as a paratrooper) There's ALSO the fact you need to make sure the parachutes actually work each time so if airplane delays aren't already long enough, we have to pay more for maintinace and more fuel costs
Firstly, experiencing a crash is a highly unlikely event. And guess what? In most of those crashes, you are either saved by the pilots, or die instantly by explosion or collision without falling. The only occourence when the plane actually falls from high altitude is when there's failure in engine, which is almost impossible since aircrafts are inspected thoroughly before take-off. Even then, you cannot open any of the exit doors, because of the air pressure caused by high velocity. And even if the door manages to open, there will be a huge chaos between passengers which causes even more risk of collision. Exiting is even harder because of this. With the high cost, being inapplicable in almost all situation, and really high chance of failure, parachute as a safety option is never a good idea to begin with.
Not all, like National Airlines Flight 102, shown in the video. It was taking off but due to sudden shift of center of gravity, the plane lost control and stall, killing all 7 crew members on board.
thats why an engineer should design a safe escape area on the plane to be able to safely parachute out the plane like the smaller ones even could build a special avatar area just for emergency jump offs
Commercial Jet Plane cruise at a much, much higher altitude compared to your average skydive plane. Outside temp will be somewhat like -50 or something, and wind speed of 200+ mph on a bad day. Not to mention lack of oxygen and pressure. So.. hypothermia, hypoxia, collapsed lung, snapped neck, just to name a few.
There are actually many more reasons not to have parachutes. 1. Imagine this scenario: a Part of the plane just went missing because of Poor maitenence, you still are strapped to your seat and you cant open the seatbelt because of rapid decompression, and now the warst part. Without any preparation you Want To Just go skydive from 38,000 feet? Some people are like eldery or like children, Do they want to Skydive cassualy? 2. Do you know how much parachutes wheigh? I also dont. But if there would be a parachute for everyone on Board, the plane would be heavily overloaded and cant really lift off the ground.
Lemme add somethings: it would make the plane at least 300kg heavier and each parachute on average would probably cost about $1200 which adds a lot to your ticket. Also they would be harder to maintain and useless in most crash situations, as the parachute needs alot of height just to open. Also imagine if you were in a plane nosediving and you tried to open the door and jump out with 300 other people. Safer just to use slides and lifejackets
Not only that, but parachuting is way harder than looks and marines spend dozens of hours training before their first parachute drop. Which is NOT from a crashing plane btw.
Just imagine everyone trying to get out of the same small exits all the same time. Even if you did make it out and pull the ripcord, you'd either be getting caught in the parachute of person who jumped before you or the person right after you, would be getting caught up in yours.
I'm sure there are other factors when you're that high up, that physics would prevent things from going smoothly enough to allow people to exit the plane with a parachute even with a few extra doors
So your gonna rummage through your luggage while the plane is nose diving and almost 5 gs and risk hitting the engine and getting ducked in if you even manage to get to the door and open it?
@@bobhahn4154 You have a die and die option but at least one of those gives you some semblance of hope and a very slim chance of survival if you manage to withstand the 5 gs, miss the engines and open your parachute properly.
It's better to brace. Also, something he didn't mention is that parachute's require a lot of training to operate on your own, which is why you're strapped to another person when skydiving.
It’s better to survive a crash landing than die trying to bail out. The only time bailing out would be preferable is if the plane becomes totally uncontrollable, in which case there’s no way even the majority of the passengers are making it to the exits. The potential for parachutes to cause mayhem in survivable situations outweighs the small number of lives it might save in unsurvivable situations. It’s just better to design the plane to minimize the possibility of such a situation happening in the first place (i.e., designing the engines so that if they explode, shrapnel won’t go into the tail so that it won’t have the chance to destroy all the redundant control systems at once).
You would get tangled, plus you aren't opening the doors either. If the plane was going down and you were trying to get up, you're going to be flying like a ball.
Those injuries include broken bones and ribs though, so without any paramedics literally standing by already, you're probably gonna start praying anyway
The airplane itself needs a giant parachute.
Some small planes do (Cirrus SR-22 for example), but a parachute likely wouldn’t be able to manage a large airliner.

@@ufflenuffle251 no it is in fact _worse than nothing_
One thing that is often not understood by passengers, is that you’re not going to be able to open the cabin doors when the aircraft is at altitude. The air pressure in the cabin helps seal the doors closed (depending on aircraft), even if that weren’t the case, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to push open a door like that with such wind speed, and you’ll set off the chute. Those are only some of the issues you’d face.
That’s why planes have an emergency switch to open the doors by force. It wouldn’t be by hands.

Another reason is liability and upkeep on such things they would have to be taken well care of and tested often. Another reason, opening a door of a passenger plane is no easy feat as the plane at high heights is heavily pressurized also not to ignore the fact that at their usually flying height their is little to no oxygen outside the plane.
The real answer
There’s a ton of weight and pressure on the doors of the aircraft when in flight so no human can possibly open them
And even if you could open it, things would most likely get sucked out and you'd kill everyone.
You'd die outside too, it's way too cold and there's very little oxygen in the air
@Randy yep.
@@bullettime8760 no , if it's flying below 10,000 ft you can open the door there is less pressure and you won't get sucked out or kill anyone. If you had an auto opening parachute, as long as you don't hit the airframe on your way out you will be fine.

The main reason is that having that many parachutes would be 1) way too heavy and 2) way too expensive
Well, those are both also true, but the main reason is because you cant just have 300+ untrained passengers jump out of an airliner because a lot of people (if not most) would likely die. You’d have a better chance of surviving just trying to do an emergency landing/ditching. The doors are also pressurized and nearly impossible to open.
And how would you move around and open the door
I don't think the weight of parachutes would matter if a plane could hold hundreds of adult passengers.

It would also put the plane company in big trouble insurance wise if sometimes fails, which is way more likely than a crash itself.

Parachuting is not like in a videogame and even if (tho the chance is small) you have already done it, almost everyone else wouldnt know how to do it especially not in a stress situation.

Again, pilots are trained in crash landing strategies that have good survival rates. You’re not “accepting your fate” as long as you are in good health there is a good chance of survival.
What good survival rates? If an incident that is causing a crash has occured , odds are the pilots have limited if not no control over the plane at all so all the landing strategies are useless.@@jake_Rutulage

Why don't school buses have seat belts? it would make much more sense 💀
Literally the same question keeps on popping out in my mind for years... well I'm still not convinced... cuz in other situations it might work
It's also a weight problem
Aircraft engineers will do anything for more efficiency and parachutes are just dead weight
Also the fact that a lot of people on the airplane are inexperienced with parachutes and in the hands of them could be a hazard (there's a reason why you spend weeks training as a paratrooper)
There's ALSO the fact you need to make sure the parachutes actually work each time so if airplane delays aren't already long enough, we have to pay more for maintinace and more fuel costs
You would also possibly get sucked into the Jetstream

Not to mention lack of oxygen and pressure. So.. hypothermia, hypoxia, collapsed lung, snapped neck, just to name a few.

Lemme add somethings: it would make the plane at least 300kg heavier and each parachute on average would probably cost about $1200 which adds a lot to your ticket. Also they would be harder to maintain and useless in most crash situations, as the parachute needs alot of height just to open. Also imagine if you were in a plane nosediving and you tried to open the door and jump out with 300 other people. Safer just to use slides and lifejackets
Not only that, but parachuting is way harder than looks and marines spend dozens of hours training before their first parachute drop. Which is NOT from a crashing plane btw.

@@datoo8245 Yeah they are very expensive too, also it's not religion but culture/
I rather have a 50% chance of living than 0% chance of dying
