I've recently become interested in running. Cardio was never something I enjoyed other than in a group training class until this year. I discovered weightlifting 9 + years ago and love it. Running was something I did to get to the next obstacle faster in an obstacle 5k race. The combination this year of my personal trainer talking to me about his running, and a challenge the gym had in January has sparked an interest in me. I'm currently training for a 5k and have found that running has actually helped my knee. I don't know if I ever would want to do a marathon or ultra marathon but am enjoying your videos and reading about different marathons and runners. Thanks for the tips in this video. I can apply your advice to other aspects of my life not just the running.
Loved this, saved for a rewatch before my upcoming races! I have 2 mantras I use when things get tough, mentally or physically. Mentally, when I start thinking about what I could/ should/ would be doing instead of logging long, sometimes painful miles is "This is my job right now. " That shuts off the stream of "cut this run/ race short and go XYZ". When things get tough physically on a run/ hike, i remind myself "This is what you came for. " No one runs ultras or hikes big mountains because it's easy. We do it for the challenge, and the reward at the end... the most difficult bits are what make the challenge so great, and the reward so awesome. Thanks for another great video!
Gain the experience and be in the moment. Thank you for the great advice! I am currently preparing my first marathon. This video helps a lot on my mindset! Thank you!
Thank you. Just what i needed to hear. Ran a marathon 2 weeks ago and quitted at 32kms.😢. You are so right. Thanks again for your beautiful videos, showing off your beautiful surroundings and sharing your wisdom.
This is the most useful bit of “running video” I’ve stumbled upon in a while. What you’ve discussed is, I think, precisely THE reason why I love getting out there so much. Finding that flow is the best thing ever. Thanks for posting it! Regards from Toronto, Canada.
Thanks Eric, yes all good down under, though we’ve had a hot start to Autumn. The 10th of March was a public holiday here & they canceled a major outdoor festival because of the heat & the fear for peoples safety.
“Resisting what is.” Reminding myself that “I love to run” when it gets hard… I can use these. Another great video, thank you!

Hey Hey Toronto, one of my favorite cities. Thanks for watching and for the great comment.
Great Vlog Eric, our ego's can spoil so much in our training, our running and our racing.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Thanks as always, hope you are having a good start to Fall!
