@@augustuslxiii I don't know if it's a given that it will become better. I really hope it does, but I'd imagine the server space that this requires is way above and beyond GPT 4. In time they will probably make it more efficient, but I don't think it's a given that optimization will make it unlimited. I'm just waiting for the day where you could run a large language model AI locally on a Nvidia GPU.

It's interesting, I asked it to do a Swedish accent to see how good it is at more niche accents, and it sort of did it, but it wasn't perfect. Then I asked it to do a French accent, which it did flawlessly, then I asked it to do a german accent, then french again, and when it switched back to french it started combining certain accents that I asked it to do before. It was hilarious but also interesting. It sounded like one of those people that grew up in multiple countries that has elements of multiple accents and languages rolled up in how they speak English.
If they're ever able to increase the daily use time it will be invaluable for language learning. You basically have a language expert that you can talk to on demand. The education potential is really high. I was just asking it random questions, then asking it to repeat it's answers in other languages. It was honestly the most fun I've had in a while.
There's also hige potebtial to use this tech for NPCs on videogames.

I asked it if it could identify my accent. It's a niche regional irish accent. It picked it up correctly. I then asked it to emulate my accent, mine specificially, the way I speak. It refused and said it couldn't due to sensitivities surrounding accents. I tried to convince it through appealing to the 1-1 private nature of the conversation with me giving express permission and it still refused. I'm yet to try it again with a fresh context from a different approach or try other accents. I was excited to see if it could actually emulate my unusual accent, however that was disappointing. I wander has anyone else ran into this limitation.

Understandable to be disappointed, especially since last spring they made it sound like everyone was getting a multimodal Jarvis. But it'll get better. Right now, it's a lot of data to process, even with all the compute they've bought. As compute increases, modes will appear. At first, they'll be very limited, then it'll get better, and probably fairly rapidly.

This is the next step in humanity. Soon we will have AGI. That will be our last invention. Imagine a sentient being that can think a million times faster than a man, but also has all of the knowledge of a human, and takes a novel and artistic approach to everything. It’s coming! And we have to accept it.

@@NiaPD can you access any memory instantaneously all the way back to your birth? Can you read a 1000 page book and recite any passage afterward verbatim? Enough "prediction" becomes understanding.

The Australian accent sounded like a bad actor trying to do an Australian accent. It’s close, but no Aussie would be fooled by it.

Yeah, to me it sounds like an American doing the accent, which would make sense since the base is American accent

The voice model is so buggy for me, it’s pretty much unusable. It’s just freezes up and isn’t capable of natural language processing.

This entire video seems to be a conflation of the voices with the underlying LLM model. Custom prompts, "It’s very smart", custom instructions, role playing and other demos in this video are reflections of the underlying model - perhaps ai-foundations just switched to o1-preview - whereas voices are part of the UI layer, and are model-agnostic.
