Best playmaking forward in college right now, in my honest opinion. BBall IQ is excellent for his age. He'll end up having a Boris Diaw-type career at the NBA level. Hope a playoff contender drafts him, like the Spurs for example. Popovich usually gets A LOT of mileage out of players with Anderson's particular skillset.
Gio Gioo BIG difference between college and NBA. Anderson will be playing one of those two forward positions in the NBA as he does not have the athleticism nor quickness to keep moonlighting at the 1.
All I knew about this kid was that he was a 6'9 pg in college when my spurs took him and I was already happy with the pick. Now that I'm watching all this film on him I couldn't be anymore happier. And at 30! Ohh what are these teams thinking passing up on this guy who is a perfect fit for our team.
Anderson does remind me of Pierce in his latter years with very similar footwork. Very fluid and high basketball IQ. Many of you seem to forget how athletic Pierce used to be in his early years though.
He reminds me a little of Paul Pierce with his slow motion old man's game. I'm not sure he can play PG defensively at 6-9 in the NBA, but I could see him being like a Pierce or Harden type at SG or SF, running a lot of the offense as a point-forward type. I'm not sure he has the scoring talent of those players though to truly be effective in that role. He's an interesting prospect though
Looks like he's doing it really slow, but he always end getting to the rim, what a pro. Besides, really good vision of the game to make the assistances. I see why San Antonio wanted him
His upside is nowhere near pierce, sorry. Maybe odom or someone like that. Except he won't rebound or defend like Odom at the NBA level. He could be a better shooter and passer though.
All you comparing him to Pierce forget that Pierce used to have decent burst and quickness when he was younger. PLUS, Pierce has nowhere near the court vision/ desire to distribute the ball as Anderson does. Present day Pierce is a decent comp, as he's just crafty enough off the dribble to get the job done as is Kyle. He'll get assists in the league, and buckets too, but defense is his one area of concern at the next level
I was trying to figure out who he reminded me of! His moves and jump shot look eerily similar to pierce! Great comparison. Obviously, he doesn't have the athleticism, shooting ability, ability to finish through contact, etc., that paul has...but visually very similar!
I can tell you there are some diehard Hawks fans who want him with the 15th pick. Over Hood and Warren and others. Dude really is a swiss army knife. He is gonna need another gear, though, in the nba. Coach Bud will teach how to best apply his many skills.
Zaviay Taylor Agreed on the Boris Diaw (Phoenix Suns MIP 2005-2006 season) comparison. Kyle's less athletic, but WAY more aggressive and assertive with a better jumper & more range. Otherwise, their skill sets are identical - though I don't see Kyle pissing his career away by letting his talent waste like Diaw has with pacivity & laziness. My Suns have three 1st rounders this year (four if Minnesota falls 14 or lower) and I'm really hoping they can translate into Kyle Anderson through some combination - with the logjam at 2 off the Suns' bench (Gerald Green, Archie Goodwin), Kyle's playmaking at 3 would be huge.
Billy Mack So... 'Melo used to average over 6 assists per game in Syracuse? They do not play the same way, brother. And this is not a knock on 'Melo. SwingMan1938 Diaw wasn't particularly athletic himself, but he was a bit quicker with the ball in his hands. The only thing about Anderson is he'll need to go to the right team for his talents to translate. As much as he's improved his shooting and scoring, he's still best on the ball - and Phoenix still has two of the best PGs in the West. Granted they can play off the ball, that's still too many ball-handlers. I think he'd be great for a team like the Cavs or Knicks (but we ain't got no draft picks). Kyrie Irving is not a true PG and Anderson has the potential to make him better at the 3 or even stretch 4 (he's 6'9", 230lbs with a 7'2" wingspan)
Zaviay Taylor I hear ya - was thinking of Kyle off the bench with two 2's (Gerald Green & Archie Goodwin - the logjam I mentioned above) as both Dragic & Bledsoe start together when healthy. Kyle would be the one running the offense while Green & Goodwin would wreak havoc on the perimeter with shooting (Green) and slashing (Goodwin). I'm looking to get back to a dominating 10-man rotation (and to keep both Bledsoe & Dragic's minutes below 35 each) like my Suns had in 2009-2010 with that Bench Mob and Kyle Anderson, IMO, would be the key and the prime stabilizer/anchor to make that happen.
Diaw is a bad comparison. He's kind of a mix between Paul Pierce and Chandler Parsons. He does things at a slow pace, but he still gets past people and can take any defender 1-on-1.
No position in NBA at this moment. He can't guard anyone in NBA. He can't be pg or sg, is too slow for sf and not strong enough for pf. Very slow release so he is not next steve novak etc. Interesing player, hope he can gain some strenght fast but man I don't see him in nba. Hope im wrong.
Too slow for SF? What kind of criticism is that? The problems with most tweener forwards are that they can't shoot and aren't good ball handlers to play the 3 and are too small to play the 4. Being "slow" isn't a downside. Kyle Anderson can do everything as a player. He's a better version of Chandler Parsons. And much like Parsons, he's being overlooked over the stupidest reasons. If the guy can create a bucket for himself or others consistently, then he can play in the league. Anderson is the epitome of that.
Ryjuss Im glad spurs picked him, but I agree on defense hes going to have trouble staying in front of some of the quicker guys, i can already see it. However it wouldnt surprise me if the spurs have him work on a few things like lateral quickness and his shooting, which isnt bad but looks like it could use some tweeking

He plays point guard
Gio Gioo BIG difference between college and NBA. Anderson will be playing one of those two forward positions in the NBA as he does not have the athleticism nor quickness to keep moonlighting at the 1.
Dude, awesome call. He plays like Diaw and has just been drafted to the Spurs.
mike smith this guy has 2k hacks lol
You got it! He's a Spur now!
He plays in slow-motion and he dominates the game. Amazing
All I knew about this kid was that he was a 6'9 pg in college when my spurs took him and I was already happy with the pick. Now that I'm watching all this film on him I couldn't be anymore happier. I love this guy out of all the players in the draft. UF fan and saw him play in the tourney. He's really special.
He's by far my favorite collegiate basketball player. I'm curious to see how his game translates at the next level.
He will be just fine in that system :)
not much of a pg anymore. more of a sf/pf role player, but a solid one at that
Well let’s just say it translated well
@@kjones1 he’s trash
He will fit in PERFECTLY with the Spurs!! Awesome pick up again by Buford, Pop and Co.
He plays like a international player... really impressive.
People say he can't play PG in the NBA, this dude is a 6"9 Andre Miller, who also lacked foot speed but made it up with skill and savy.
I mean they weren’t wrong, he plays forward
We just drafted him at #30. I'm really liking what I'm seeing. Definitely has that Diaw style game and a great pick I'm sure.
To The Spurs he goes! Match made in heaven
SPURS WILL MAKE THIS GUY A STAR
He's Andre Miller in a PF body. That's dangerous for whichever team does not draft him.
Spurs with another steal in the draft
He reminds me a little of Paul Pierce with his slow motion old man's game. He has a very underrated left hand also.
Great pick up by the spurs.
He's got a great offensive game, I've gotta say
big point guards are back
Love the Pierce Comparison💯
Targeting Kyle for my Phoenix Suns as a do-it-all 3 to replace Marcus Morris - love this kid's court IQ and playmaking.
Magic Anderson
He's got that Swaggy P style of pace. Slow, deliberate, but effective.
What an off-speed shooting
reminds me of Larry Bird.. his rhythm gets him passed opponents. He's not quick.. but he's smart.. it'll be great to see him develop with the Spurs.
Oh yeah, and Go Spurs Go!!!!!
[Doug McDermott + Kyle Anderson] = Larry Bird's offensive game
I haven't watched him play much. What do you guys think he needs to improve now that he's with the Spurs?
Magic "the swaggy truth" Anderson
This guy is way more versatile than paul pierce his upside is higher because he is 6'9
His upside is nowhere near pierce, sorry. Maybe odom or someone like that. Except he won't rebound or defend like Odom at the NBA level. He could be a better shooter and passer though.
Orlando MUST draft this guy with their second first round pick.
Welcome to the Spurs Kyle Anderson! :)
please okc
All you comparing him to Pierce forget that Pierce used to have decent burst and quickness when he was younger. Welcome to my spurs
Kyle 'the big easy 'anderson

AwesomeJBEAST109 Budenhozer is the coach for atlanta i would like to him them succeed
Welcome to the Spurs!
Do a Sean Kilpatrick (UC) highlight video please!!!!!!!! leads American conference in points!
Volume shooter who rarely shoots over .500 You can keep him!!!!
Nice!!!!
The truth
Some of these comments are 10 years old and this man has done nothing but get slower and better 😂😂😂😂
Paul Pierce Jr.
The Next Version of Paul Pierce
Why can he shot more faster before? lol
What's up with that guy at the end that still wants to get the ball from Wear?
If a team gets him at a 7th or 8th pick it would be a steal
30th by the spurs
The Spurs stole him at #30
***** those Spurs lmao
huge steal by the spurs lol
phillip lee in their system its a steal
Jersey
6'9 next Mahican Johnson
I wish he had the opportunity to play PG in the NBA
He runs like shawn Bradley
i curse the lakers for not getting him.
Good travel lol I like Kyle tho very talented
How did his shot get slower in the nba? Lol
Hedo Turkuglo 2008-2010
Reminds me of D-will, just taller, and not as Intense on the defensive In like a healthy D-will.
so manu so diaw so spurs
Dude plays in slow motion. Hilarious.
This guy reminds me of Larry Bird..
He got that Melo type of game
Billy Mack 'Melo? How so? I'd say he's more like Phoenix Boris Diaw
Zaviay Taylor Agreed on the Boris Diaw (Phoenix Suns MIP 2005-2006 season) comparison.

SwingMan1938 you will see when he gets to the NBA. Melo used to play the same way when he was in Syracuse.

He reminds me of a more skilled truth
*less skilled
Poor mans Paul Pierce..
poor man my ass hes better than paul p
BasketballForLife
He never stepped in any nba floor yet and you are telling me he's better than Paul Pierce?what crack are you smoking?
K3vindust He'll end up with more rings than Paul Pierce. Los Spurs!
@@jackclimb3529 this aged badly
I would compare him to Hedo Turkoglu in his glory days with the magic not fuckin andre miller, or melo the fuck lol
he traveled at 4:00
He looks slow. He plays like Diaw. Shooting, passing/playmaking but in slo-mo
Diaw is a bad comparison. He's kind of a mix between Paul Pierce and Chandler Parsons. He does things at a slow pace, but he still gets past people and can take any defender 1-on-1.
Perfect comparison especially now with the team he's on (;
He was picked by spurs
it's like he's running in mud
Light skin Malcom in the Middle
Bruins suck
so slow and deceptive with his moves
he's so slow

Guess what! The Spurs selected him in the first round!
Stan Lee
Yes. If he really wants to be in nba Spurs are perfect fit. We will see.
"Too slow for sf" I was talking about defense.
Ryjuss

He's too slow, way to slow for NBA
