Car would sporadically crank but not start. After having already changed the fuel pump I figured the relay was the only other thing it could be.
Tools/ supplies/ parts used: flat head screwdriver, phillips screwdriver, pick tool, needle nose pliers, 10mm socket, 1/4 ratchet, flashlight (depending on your lighting situation), and the relay- Duralast part# 20113
($64.99+ tax at Autozone)
I love your starting the car sounds effects
🤣🤣 Thank you! I tried!
Great video, thank you! A note for anyone with a 6 speed manual. The positioning of the bracket holding the relay is a little different. Instead of facing out toward the driver, it faces down and is mounted higher up behind the instrument panel. The Brake switch is in a different position as well. The good news is the bolt holding the bracket on is a little easier to get to than the automatic because the brake switch isn't in the way.
Thanks for watching, Burt! And thanks for the info pertaining to the stick shift. Hopefully it will help someone as well.
Hola rrrr te ra poli i
You’re the first automotive diagnostician I’ve come across on yt. Please keep it up
This video is great because im diy this whole time watching video after video but yours actually walks you through the process
Thank you for watching! I'm glad it helped you. I sometimes have trouble finding videos that are step by step from start to finish, so I wanted to create them. I hope to have more content soon. Please be sure to like and subscribe.
I have a 2004 Acura Rl and will attempt replacing the main relay. Thanks for the video, you gave me confidence in attempting this project.
You can do it! Thanks for watching.
Really helped alot. I'm thinking my hands are a bit bigger than yours. Getting the bracket reinstalled was a challenge. Once I got some lite on it and found a thread it was over. Thanks .
Yeah, my hands are kinda small! So glad the video helped though!!! Thank you for watching and subscribing!
Thanks for the video great info ,also you can take it out of the box without taking the box out, there should be 2 more clips to the inside of the plastic box press on them you should be Apple to take the main relay board out and put it in easier without taking the 10mm nut out
Hi! Thanks for watching! And thank you for the tip about removing the relay without having to remove the 10mm nut.
Thank you for the video. I could siphon my gas today by bypassing the relay.
Thank you for watching! I hope it helped you out!
Just used this video and that was the problem thanks for making and sharing this content
Thank you for watching, Don! I'm really glad it helped you out. Don't forget to like and subscribe.
Thank you for your video showing the actual location and removal of the relay. It helped me even more in putting it back in because it took me a few days to test, attempt to resolder and finally mail order a new after market relay for $24. I had forgotten everything of how it was attached to the bracket and bolted back to the car.
Oh wow! I'm so glad it helped you out and that you got it all put back together! Thanks so much for watching. Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already. Have a great day!
what website did you buy it from? thanks
I just looked on eBay for a U.S. vender with good reviews and free return. I checked the vender I bought from last time but they only have the original OEM parts for $99 at this time. But I still see other venders at $15 to $23. Make sure it matches your car year model and engine. My 2003 TL Acura used the RY423 without a pin 4 which is pretty important for which I asked the vender to verify prior to order. The part is not OEM and is missing the mounting tab on the short end which was not needed.
thanks you, I will wait and see if the price will come down from a vendor that sell OEM.
Btw everyone you don’t have to unplug anything you can slip your hand to the back and slide the relay off the bracket
Glad it worked out for you Chance! My relay was stuck on the bracket so badly, I had to cut the video. But I'm super glad yours slipped right off! Be blessed and thanks for watching! 😊👍🏽
A lot of the time the relay can just be resoldered! It worked on mine!
@@simmcowaPang122 I'm glad resoldering worked out for you! Thanks for watching!
Thank you!!!! Just change mine out with the help of this video!
You're welcome! I'm glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this vid, I thought it was my fuel pump until I located the relay and tapped on it and it started, now I just need to replace it or Il be tapping on it all the time lol
So glad it helped you out! Thanks for watching!!!!!
I had a friend that had a mustang where if you had a running vehicle with jumper cables it would start. 12 Volts wasn't enough to close the relay but 13.5 volts was.
Oh wow!
@@ashlemmefixthat7786 he even tried installing a new fuel pump in the parking lot of his work. For shits & giggle's I thought I'd try it while hooked to my truck Running. Sure Shit, it started up.
Ty for the video. Any issues since? I wish I would've found this video before I just dropped off my CL at the dealership, but if the come at me sideways, I got a very good Plan B.
Hi and thanks for watching! No more problems out of it after changing the relay. Let me know what the dealership ends up saying.
I just yanked mine out without doing any of this but without the grey cover
Thank You, It worked out.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much
You're welcome! Glad it helped you out.
Is there a reason this would keep going out? I’ve replaced this last year and it seems to be out again. 😢
@@jayatthebar Hi Jay! I'm not sure, I didn't have anymore issues with mine. Maybe their was a problem with the replacement part. Thanks for checking out the video and I hope you figure out why it keeps going out.
After change RELAY car starts good
Thank you for watching! I'm glad it worked out for you!
Thanks

This helped a lot thank yoy
YW! I'm glad it helped you out!!
Hi
Great video re fuel relay.
I have an 03 TL that shuts off while driving, twice maybe in the last 6 months. After about 15 minutes it’s starts up and purrs like new. Only happens while driving so far.
You think it’s the same problem and remedy?
Thanks
I'm honestly not sure what that could be. It could be an actual injector problem but it wouldn't hurt to start with the cheapest possible fix. Mine never cut off while driving. It just wouldn't start up. Thank you for watching! I hope you get it figured out. Comment back when you do. I'm curious to know what it turns out to be.

Good morning
Well so far so good. I changed the fuel relay and I changed the fuel pump since it’s an easy access thru the trunk. Wear a mask re fumes. Back to the relay, big time saver, instead of trying to slide the relay out and unbolting anything, you know you’re replacing it and it’s plastic so I just stuck the screwdriver under it and popped it out. Yes it broke but I plugged the new one and it slipped and clicked right into position.
Thanks again to you and others that motivate and inspire the weekend warrior to fix things themselves. 👍🏼
Did it start?
How do you diagnose if its the relay my pump isnt priming but im scared to replace the pump and it be the relay thats my problem
Hi! Good question. I don't know how to disgnose it. I'd say fix the cheapest thing first if you're a DIY-er. Hope you figure it out. Thanks for watching.
@@ashlemmefixthat7786 you could have saved so much time and effort if you had just removed the brake light switch. Took me 10 minutes to replace the relay start to finish
@@mikemyers8538 Good to know! Glad you fixed it quickly!
Before you fixed the problem. Did your car turn on when you stepped on the gas pedal? My Acura starts when i step on the gas pedal but doesn’t stay on. Changed fuel pump and same problem..
Hi Richie. Thanks for watching. I'm not sure of your problem. In the beginning of the video I described exactly what my Acura did. When it was on and running it didn't cut off. It ended up being my fuel pump relay. I hope you find out the issue with yours.
I have the same problem with my new fuel pump.
Did this fix the problem?
Yes it did.
@@ashlemmefixthat7786 thank you
Me, too!
Why not just unplug the relay plug in a new one and tywrap it out of the way . That way if its not the issue, you can put original back in service quickly
@@wbonney411 Hi, thanks for watching the video. I don't think I understand your question. Maybe I'm reading your question wrong. Either way, that was precisely the issue for this vehicle. If it inspired you to improvise or skip a step or two or five 😄, then that's awesome. Have a great day and thanks again for watching!
Will this work for the 2003 acura rsx
I'm not sure.
Thank! How can you check to see if the relay is bad?
Hi Troy! Thanks for watching. I'm not sure how to check to see if it's bad. I just knew mine had to be because I had already replaced the fuel pump but it continued to do the same thing.
Tap on it with a ball peen hammer

Thanks I have the same problem and someone tell to change the motor,😮😮😮nop I got the relay now
Great! I hope the video helps you out!
So i found it thanks to you but now my speedometer isnt working. All the other guages work. My dad was working on it and their was a wire clamp not connected with the v symbol behind the maind driver fuse box. Its just behind the plug in that says mpsc and i cant find what it does but my dad said it was already like that and im pretty sure the speedometer worked b4. But im not new to this stuff so
your dad 100% broke it lmfao
I'm sorry... I have no idea man...
Changed my fuel pump and relay but didn’t change the fuel pump housing. Guess that’s my next step
Thanks for watching! I hope it works out for you! When you changed your relay, that didn't stop the problem?
@@ashlemmefixthat7786 still not wanting to stay running. It turned out to be the fuse and not the relay that was still causing the fuel pump not to kick on, with that being said though I think it’s my injectors, almost $300 just for all 6 and that’s something we can’t get at my job so I’m going to have to special order which can take God knows how long to come in🤢🤮
