- ALF gets interested in magic tricks, so Willie gives his old magic trick set to him. When ALF discovers he is no good at magic tricks even though he has the desire, he naturally concludes that he needs proper magician's tools.

ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for “Alien Life Form.” Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (who also performed as ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s, cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist.

THIS is what TV was like back when TV was worth watching!
And yet if this aired today, you'd be citing it as an example of how TV *isn't* worth watching now, unlike the old days when you could get away with offensive stuff instead of being some lame-ash inoffensive family show with positive family values.

Everything was much simple back then; the era of Internet, over-politicizing and all sorts of dividing ideologies introduce the inevitable existential cynicism we are living in now. With time the humor become much more dark and start to "bites" you.

Okay, it's official - I'm convinced people only like old stuff because it's old, because you also had stuff like _Alien_ and _The Land Before Time_ that was very much dark and gritty, and people cite *that* as an example of how stuff was better back then, citing _Minions_ and _Encanto_ as examples of how media has become wussified over time. And yet if it had been the opposite, that _Minions_ and _Encanto_ came out in the 80s while _Alien_ and _Land Before Time_ were more recent, people would say _Minions_ and _Encanto_ were "pure and innocent and nice family entertainment", and that _Alien_ and _Land Before Time_ were just trying too hard to be edgy and woke.
