- Who remembers Ash?! We posted about him a few weeks ago during our ‘Costa Rica Wildlife appeal’ that many of you supported. We now have an update on him!

Ash is a tiny orphaned howler monkey who arrived into our care last month, clinging to the back of his deceased mother who had been electrocuted by uninsulated power cables. Thanks to your incredible support and donations, Ash has continued to make steady progress. He is now socializing well with the rest of the troop and developing essential skills for thriving in the wild.
Specifically, he is gaining muscle to climb proficiently and is eating well, steadily putting on weight!
He's come such a long way in such a short amount of time. And because of YOU, his future is looking brighter by the day! Of course, he is still very fragile and we’ll continue to monitor him and update you on his progress. But so far… so good!

Your gentleness and kindness pours out of the screen. This must be so very hard for you all. But I really hope you know what a very special job you do. You should all be so very proud of yourselves. You are incredible, trying so hard to care for these animals and beings in the way that you do. I wish I could be of some assistance.

I’m glad the baby is unharmed. However, I’d think they’d put the poor baby with an adult female to ease her stress of not having her mom. Anyway, happy to see she’s safe!
Howler Monkeys do not adopt orphans as a rule. The structure family unit in the wild are fittest survive. The predators feed on howlers ALOT. Jaguars especially. They are South American new world monkeys. In zoo and rehab centers they are specialized care❤
