I have been building single shot ar rifles and pistols for some time now! Easy to make any ar a single shot by just turning the gas block backwards to block gas port. Glad to see someone finally planning to market a complete upper kit. Bear creek, Daytona Tactical, and PSA are my go to for uppers and upper parts. BCG’s and slick side uppers $50 each. Nice. If you can figure out a way to add a drop down or permanent handle to the charging bolt, that would make it better. Kinda like a small for end grip.

that would make pulling it back harder. there is a reason manual action guns don't have return springs (pump action bolt action lever action) it would make the gun less smooth feeling. and less quiet.

Since I saw his other video on it I have been trying to come up with a working system for this using existing parts. Itd be heavier, but it may be possible, albeit with a 7.5 inch barrel instead, and a number of proprietary parts. The closest bcg group I found is 350 on a pre order. It would require a adjustable gas block and a pigtail gas tube to go with it. Once you have those you need a handguard. Once you have dumped all of that money into it, it still might not work. If I could drop the roughly 800 into this to try it I would, but that is a ways off.
UK also requires a 24" total length, but they don't discriminate against short rifles, so you could add a stock. Or just adds shortened fake buffer tube

Whats really clever is that he has a return spring thats light but strong enough to return it but as long as gas isnt going to the gas key, it remains locked. Im honestly impressed at this design. I need to find a gas less barrel design. Nice reflex suppressor btw too

Bacnow its not a hard project .. the hardest part will be putting the bolt handle on and closing a gas port if needed .. id put the bolt handle further back so im not drilling the bolt body where it can affect strength .. id be drilling the back slot behind the firing pin . and complete the slot in the upper so i could weld the handle on firmly so it can't ever work loose and could quickly remove the bolt by opening the upper and never need tools ..all the locking strength is in the bolt and barrel ..not the upper ..i still think a polymer upper is a bad idea though ..id go with a aluminum sporter upper without a forward assist or dust door . because its cheaper and both are quite unnecessary in this design
Rolling Blackouts how did you attach the handle ? i hope you didn't just stick it on there with a weld or something ..it could fall off .. i did mine differently . i attached the bolt handle to the 2 hammer guiding stubs left from shortening the bolt body by drilling tapping and then welding it on so there's absolutely no loss of structural strength in the bolt body from any modifications and used a shorter fatter handle so it doesn't hit me in the back when i carry it on a sling .a friend joked i could have put a big round ball or shifter knob on the back and no slot or upper modification ..it would work ..like a pinball machine
A google Account you drill & tap the carrier, not the bolt. The carrier isn't really a stressed part, it already has a dozen holes in it from every angle.
Rolling Blackouts okay ..i didn't call those a "carrier " i thought it was a "bolt body" ..and i was concerned i could drill into something hollow someplace that is hard to polish out internal burrs making it operate rough .. my specialty is more industrial manufacturing stuff ..not guns .
What powder are you using for those 110's? Might try lil gun. It seems to burn up well in shorter barrels. 10" velocities vs cfe blk have been impressive.
Definitely, right-side charging uppers are already widely available off the shelf, starting with the basic but inexpensive Bear Creek uppers and going up in price and refinement.

@@mattelder1971 I know that. I don't like the look of the thin barrel coming off the upper and want to shroud it. If the barrel is secured to the upper with a normal nut, I can use any short cover for it.
We're waiting on our barrel supplier currently. They're telling us February before we can get another shipment. Covid has the whole industry messed up.
This video is of our prototype a year ago, it simply had a shoulder bolt for a handle. Our production version has a beautiful stainless steel bolt handle that's .400" diameter.
An AR bolt carrier doesn't stay forward because of the spring, it stays forward due to the rotating locking lugs. And it certainly has nothing to do with friction from the upper and magazine. You might want to read up on how the AR BCG works, it's actually pretty neat.

It might interfere with the trigger unless you used an upper like the BRN180

The suppressor doesn't mount to the barrel nut, and this doesn't even use a handguard.

Yup it's built with a normal AR bolt & barrel so it should be fine in any AR caliber.
