I wanna say, as someone who is vocally trained, speaking in a higher register can actually help protect your voice by forcing you not to speak on the bottom of your throat, or “frying your voice”. If it works for her I don’t see a problem. 🤷♀️ I was instructed to do so when I first had a professional voice teacher, it does help❤
Are you sure you just arent dynamic in your range? I can sing bass or baritone, the throat is more relaxed for this. But I can also sing tenor with the proper warm up. I will say once i’ve warmed up to tenor, getting back to bass range is extremely difficult. I had a little vocal training but mostly taught myself vocal control from being a weird lonely kid that loved doing impressions and mimicking sounds!
@@TheOriginalJadolph I’m not sure if it’s different because of male vs female vocal cords, but this technique is used to protect your voice for sopranos. When we ge tired or relaxed, we tend to speak on the bottom of our throats, speaking in a higher register not only prevents this, but also trains us to become comfortable in our vast range of pitch.

Guys she talks in lower tones sometimes to rest her voice. She’s not necessarily deepening it but just relaxing it and letting it be lower. It helps her range
Talking in chest extensively, like if you’re a yapper hurts your voice or if you’re tad loud. Talking within your mask region (nasolabial area) is the most effective way of protecting your voice and keeping it young for longer. You are right about low tones to an extent, if you relax your jaw and neck completely.
Hey is she doing her Glinda Vickie in a normal podcast not in character or even related to the movie?? She’s also mentioned this is “just how she talks now” so she clearly doesn’t see it as a Glinda voice

I know a lot of people were saying that changing pitch helps her protect her voice from damage, etc. But she changes *accents* too, not just pitch. 😂 What’s the explanation for that?
Poor girl, I hope no one’s giving her hate, she’s obviously just trying to change herself like any other person would if they are insecure and she is so sweet, gorgeous and fun I will always be on her side
She’s so frickin committed to her vocal health it’s crazy, that second voice helps protect her voice but for a singer it’s really hard to do all the time.
She actually talked abt its bc of her vocal cords they don’t get damaged since she is always singing high pitched songs also she used to do this wayyyy back pro singers confirmed this fact❤
It's because a lot of singers change their voice in order to help their throat. This is a way to keep yourself healthy if you're a singer. She broke it for a minute but the second one is probably closer to how she's actually supposed to talk. I know a lady who does voice therapy and they had her do the same thing!

It’s to preserve her voice before a show or recording, to reach the octaves she consistently sings at she has to keep her voice in the upper register so she doesn’t strain it or rip a vocal cord throwing it to high.
I do this a lot, actually. My voice generally has a wide range that feels natural and sometimes a deeper/lower version of spoken. However, sometimes my natural voice is higher or softer. Whatever feels right to my voice always varies depending on mood, situation, who I’m with, or sometimes it’s really just random.
if you have watched her for many years you would see that she’s always talked like this… like always. why do y’all like lying? she’s preserving her voice and humans don’t speak in one register constantly.
I don’t understand how her using a higher pitch instead of a relaxed one is helping preserve her voice. Her and Mariah Carey hit the same notes, but Mariah isn’t sounding like a little baby doll every minute. I mean if that’s her bit, go on. But like all lies if you can’t maintain it then it will expose you. Doing the switch mid conversation makes her appear as though she doesn’t know herself or isn’t comfortable being her true self.
I agree that the voice changes make her look fake and ridiculous, but it really seems like it's working for her. Her voice is the epitome of health and longevity. I know she's still young but Mariah's prime lasted much shorter and her voice started declining in late 90s.

There's a reason she's one of few that can hit whistle notes the way she does.
If that's the case, then how come literally no other female singer does this? If you watch interviews of some of the greatest female singers of all time like Whitney Houston, Céline Dion, Mariah Carey, etc.. NONE of them talk with a weird fake baby voice in their interviews, lol. Ariana is using placement as an excuse and y'all bought it.
@@Shield954 and NONE of them are ariana? michael jackson also used this technique. perhaps she’s trying to preserve her high notes, as we know with your previous examples… your voice gets deeper as you age (just like celine and mariah).
she forgot that the pr team was watching

i think i heard her say this in an interview, she's trying to keep her voice in a healthy range to maintain her vocal chord strength as a singer... i took a communication anatomy class once and things like speaking in a lazy millennial vocal fry or whisper are damaging on your voice
I love her natural voice, it's so beautiful and soothing
I do this whenever I'm interacting with strangers. It's almost like a protective barrier.
What do you do exactly, I kinda missed it
This is so valid, it’s code switching!
@etfluezu9161 I change my voice when interacting with strangers. I can go low to very high-pitched.
Yeah I mean why can't it always be high tone. Mine is low usually. But with strangers it's high.
@@KatDesi weird. Grow up
as a vocalist, this is what we do to protect our voices. talking in vocal fry and lower part of your voice can be damaging if you’re talking for long periods of time

No this isn absolute utter ballshit I've been a vocal coach for ten years even studied vocal pedagogy for 15 years as my father and family all coming from the same profession. I hate to see disinformation like this really kicks me how people don't know and claim they know when not even researching this. To protect your voice you take vocal naps not whisper or lower your tone whilst talking we call this sort of nonsense be a Michael IE Jackson 😭
@@hexusmexus6971 Haha exactly. The part where she whispers and lowers voice is the damaging part. People say the voice she usually uses is fake when she is actually using that vocal protective style (NOT the loweredwhisper) (random OTHer example of this:Vocal teacher Legend Roger Love).
@@hexusmexus6971 ok kind of disrespectful. i respect your credibilities and agree with you. but also talking in higher registers is good for your voice while talking in a raspy lower whisper isn’t necessarily the best for your voice. and i totally agree that talking in whispers isn’t good for your voice. i commented real quick to maybe shed some light on the information without giving a full paragraph of credentials and 10 tips for vocal health so its kind of disrespectful to discredit someone off of one comment. like i said, totally agree with you on what you said, just trying to let you know your comment was a little disrespectful at the same time.
It’s giving when you stay home from school because your “sick” and you realize your not sounding’s sick when talking to your mom
Bingo 🤣
Me when I go from talking to my friends in the car to when we pull up to the drive-thru speaker. 😅🙈
She has such a beautiful voice ❤

Both is her natural voice. I have this too. I can actually switch back and forth to my prepubescent voice to my present voice, unconsciously or not. It depends on my mood most of the time. This is also the reason why ari is good at mimicking other artists voices.
She's good at mimicking other artists voiced bc of her vocal range, not bc she fakes a voice that's an octave higher than her actual speaking voice. 😂
😅

Guys she talks in lower tones sometimes to rest her voice. She’s not necessarily deepening it but just relaxing it and letting it be lower. It helps her range
Talking in chest extensively, like if you’re a yapper hurts your voice or if you’re tad loud. Talking within your mask region (nasolabial area) is the most effective way of protecting your voice and keeping it young for longer. You are right about low tones to an extent, if you relax your jaw and neck completely.

I think so too. I think she might be doing re-shoots and needs to preserve the accent and speaking style just in case she has to film more scenes for the movie. I know a lot of people were saying that changing pitch helps her protect her voice from damage, etc. But she changes *accents* too, not just pitch. 😂 What’s the explanation for that?

It's because a lot of singers change their voice in order to help their throat. This is a way to keep yourself healthy if you're a singer. Vocal coaches and musicians actually encourage it

It’s to preserve her voice before a show or recording, to reach the octaves she consistently sings at she has to keep her voice in the upper register so she doesn’t strain it or rip a vocal cord throwing it to high.
@@lucianak.6297 then every singer would sound like this
Nah she’s just weird. Lol
Damn I love her natural voice!

Nahh Joshua walked into the room 💀
