It's crazy that Light can go from reverse 6-0ing Miya and winning LVL UP over Sonix to failing to make top 8 at a B+ tier losing to Yink and Donkey Kong. Shoutouts to KOBE
@@andrevanderlinden8722 Nah but really Young Link has Fox's frame data, kill power and projectiles that lead into kill setups. If that is not top tier I don't know what is (unless you think Fox is not top tier ofc).
You know that move has a good amount of end lag right? for us it’s easy to say “you could have reflected that bro” but these are professional players and will capitalize on laggy moves like that if he misses. Take away from this, using shine on younglink is more risk then reward.
@@willbingo you can cancel the lag with a jump if you reflect a projectile, you can see at the end of game 2 it sends arrow pressure back at yl and wouldnt be punishable (although it would probably only be effective vs arrow or a long distance bomb which you could just shield than z catch anyways)
@@willbingoWhen most of what YL is doing is running away fishing for projectiles to play the neutral for him it's safe to say Light should've reflected or layered more for free dmg.
Yeah I was thinking this the whole set, especially in game 1 Light was running into so many projectiles I was starting to think he forgot Fox has a reflector haha.
I am nowhere near Light's level but ... shouldn't Light use Shine more vs Young Link? I felt I predicted many projectiles at burst range that catch Light and lead to his deaths ... a simple shine would have reversed his fortunes, no?
Not knowing exactly but my guess would be so that they don't get distracted. Smash has so many minute sound fx that you don't wanna miss at this level of play. These sound often indicate a move earlier than you can realize visually. That said I also heard of a player that listens to his own music, because it helped him with rhythm.
as ironic as it is it felt like light wasn’t adapting, sometimes i watch light and i think it literally looks like he’s not trying as much as he does for other players / matchups. like there were sooo many missed roll reads and i felt he wasn’t picking up on kobe’s habits as much as he would normally. kinda like he was just throwing out fox shit and not really wanting to have to play as hard as top 8. idk just my take
No he was adapting, it's just that Young Link's projectiles and N-air are tilting. Did you not see the 2 F-Smashes at ledge in the last game ? Or how many grabs he got since games 3 and 4 ? The only thing he could have done to improve was to do empty short hops under Young Link to bait N-airs and parry ( even then YL can drift away and escape the scenario altogether, what an annoying character lol)
Yink struggles to kill, and offstage recovery is horrible. No low % kill options… he’s bad ass but not top tier. You also have to have your combos on lock to win, so every hit has a purpose not just spamming bairs and shit. The b button won’t kill you unlike a charged shot!
Then you must be only watching the sets that he loses, considering this is winners side top 32 he won multiple sets before this. And also Kobe isn't new talent he has been around for some time.

Yink is nothing to scoff at, hell not even DK in this game. But yeah, it is pretty crazy nonetheless
Koby has beaten Light multiple times
I did not know Young Link's Nair was so strong lol
Light DI*
Light could've DI'd that, that shouldn't have killed there
Fox player DI
That move is actually one of young links most reliable kill options for some reason, it was bad di tho

nvm, its good against boomerang (game 4 he uses shine a bunch), arrow dypically just despawns lol

GOOD SHIT KOBE
9:42 not a regrab, when character tether cancel and then grab ledge, they still get invincibility
Young links nair is dominant in this matchup, really puts the Fox player on the defensive when they’re vortexing the young link
It’s crazy that half of the times I couldn’t tell how actually hit whom
What a cool set. Congratulations, Kobe!
Even as early as game 1 I was feeling like Kobe's usage of Nair was a problem for Light. How fitting that it was the final move to seal the upset.
damnnnn crazy ending
Great set

Young Link’s landing fair is basically unpunishable. Light tried to grab right after it.

does anyone know if light uses smash stick or tilt stick
Smash stick. It's how he got the kill at 15:38
