This video might be 8 years old, but it's still helping people immensely. I'm currently in training to work for a national automotive locksmith company, and I'm really struggling with lishi'ing. Even with some decent trainers, I found it hard to feel like I'm getting a firm grasp of what I'm doing.... But this video really helped me feel a little bit more confident and how to pick and read a lock.
great tutorial, as a novice automotive locksmith I found this very useful. We typically cut and program duplicates but we do take origination calls, not having these tools and doing this the old fashioned is not fun nor work friendly when time is money. I plan on getting a set of these tools to help in the field and this video gave a great understanding of what to expect.
Nice video, thanks. Picked up the HU66 and HON66 at ALOA convention a couple years ago.... never have used them. Picked up a few practice locks this week to practice on, really want to start making those keys more often.
Brilliant video, watched this prior to attempting to open my first car with lishi picks. Took 5 minutes but I reckon I'll be faster next time. thanks guys
i don't understand the part of the video where you say if you picked up,you decode down?I find this very confusing as a learner, ive seen people picking up and decoding up,picking up decoding down and vice-versa?? Are these lishi picks all different, does it depend which way up you have the tool in the lock? So far i've manage to pick my ignition lock, but my decode readings are completely different from my auto key cutters decode reading of my actual key??Help! :-)
hi guys thanks for the tutorial have you guys got the latest 2014 polo pick or are u working on one we can not get one in south africa and was hoping that there is one out there pse let us know thanks
Very good video. I have a question for you.. When you have to pick some locks in groups of 2 up, 2 down, you have to cut the key in groups of 2 up, 2 down as well?? Because is most of videos I've seen usually one key are with odd cuts and the other key are with even cuts..
Ahh, I see what you mean now. I do not know of any affordable options for this kind of key, unfortunately. I've not seen many machines that can mill the sides for the key guides. Anyone have information on this?
I'm a locksmith who works on residential, and business locks. I also unlock cars. I've been waiting thing to expand my knowledge so I could increase my money stream. but the two questions to join the site is beyond my knowledge. it's kind of an unfair question for new locksmiths.
Buy into one of the key decoding websites. It's not expensive, and it covers automotive, residential, commercial, industrial, and even some institutional locks and keys, including Chubb, Folger Adams, & Southern Steel prison locks. I had to answer not one but THREE different bittings from the key codes, but that was all in one of my computers that connects to an older key by code machine.
where can i buy it? any one have a link to post here? and about the cars.. do you know tell me whats is the cars than can open with this? thanks for the video!
yeah the machines arent cheap but the sure make our job a hell of a lot easier, personally i dont like the a5 there are so many things they could have done better. my personal fave is the tricode by ilco, hands down best machine ever.
those keys for the late model VW passat's are 4 track high security. you need a machine that cuts high security like the "Miracle A-5" or a 3D Pro" to cut the key
You'll probably need an immobilizer code generator or cloner to make a key for a late-model car like that one. If there's a transponder or RFID chip in the key, then even a properly-cut plain blank will not start the car and, in some cases, will not open the car door.
+TruthSeeker This tool works well on door lock but the ign. is a side bar lock. No way to engage the side bar on a ford without removing the ign. witch has to be turned to "run" to remove. In that case, tool is useless for ign.
+TruthSeeker Yes, all 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 tools you must pick first before decoding. But in most cases, picking is not difficult. Some examples of locks that are more difficult than usual is Honda high security, Mercedes HU64, and BMW HU58. But they're all very doable with practice.
I see. Dang, I'm gonna have to buy a lot of these for work. Different key profiles and all. Edit: They won't sell you these things if you're not legit company, so all of you lockpickers out there aiming to be locksmiths can't get these before you go into business.
Then, hopefully, your client will be able to help you out with that. If there's no client, then what the heck are you doing decoding a car you're not authorized to decode?
As for the Ford 8 cut locks this works well on the door. Ign.? No way. Ford ign. is a side bar lock. No way to engage side bar without removing lock, which has to be turned to "run" position.
Not true. Not all are sidebar after 2007. And the earlier 8 cuts that have been replaced, you will find a million in the 00-05 focus years, aren't either

No entiendo ni papa. Pero la explicacion visual es perfecta.
Do you have to pick the lock first before decoding and what about the ignition switch?
***** yes I mean the lock cylinder itself..
+TruthSeeker This tool works well on door lock but the ign. is a side bar lock. No way to engage the side bar on a ford without removing the ign. witch has to be turned to "run" to remove. In that case, tool is useless for ign.

+Dick Sears dicks not exactly right with his point.
Most Leshi 2/1 have to pick cylinder first then decode opposite 2 up 2 down my friend HU66
Will this work on ignition? I have cylinder housing in hand if that makes a difference.
Carlos V might pick it but depending on the car and year... won't be able to start anything
👍
