  • In this video Lesson 7 (Part 2 Updating) I continue to review how to update a project and carefully explain the steps in creating a record of updates using a file protocol for saving your updates, recoveries and changes to your project. I do a review from the previous videos and then jump into how to set a status date, use the tracking screen, tracking Gantt and variance screen when updating. As well I discuss how to review the cost and resource cost screens with regards to cost variances. Hi Tom, I am tracking my project> I have set up my baseline, and status date, but I cannot calculate my total days of delay. My project is very delayed; my project should finish in March 2023, but I haven't yet. When I calculate my project just shows me the day I m delayed from the task till March but not the duration till my status date. Could you help with that? thank you

    Hi Tom
    Is it possible to enter the Actual usage of a resource when updating to a status date so a variance can then be seen

    • @TomStephensontraining
      @TomStephensontraining  Год назад

      Do you mean hours, if so yes under resource usage table. Experiment and see if that is what you are after. Resource has to be listed as work in the resource sheet for it to be tracked by time. Hope tgat helps Paul

    Question: Once we have updated the schedule, should we change the baseline and set it as a new baseline or will it be helpful to keep the original baseline?

      Hi Salman,
      Best to keep the original baseline, that is usually what you are contracted with. You can add other baselines, and you can do the file naming protocols. These might help as I go more into the topics here.

    Hi Tom! Your videos are SUPER helpful. Right now my company is trying to implement MS Project, and I'm being tasked with getting to know it first.
    I did have one problem though. When I got to the end of the video, having adjusted for all the time changes (4 days delay on the total project finish date), my costs for the Super and PM were half as much as yours. I was wondering what I might've done for that to happen?
    When I look at the resource sheet, the costs for the PM and Super are as though it only added 2 extra days (224hrs and 112hrs). But when I look at the Gantt Chart and Variance, it clearly says that the project duration has been increased by 4 days (30 total).
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      I was able to complete it again right when I exited and restarted, but I couldn't figure out how to fix or even find the mistake I made
      When I went to the Resource Usage screen, I saw that my Super wasn't working the max 240 hours. Then, when I changed it so that he was working 240 hours, it said I had overdrawn him and that I'd need to bump his % up to 111%? I couldn't figure out where I went wrong at all, as I made sure that he was only attached to the Summary Task and had him properly in the resource sheet.

      I can’t remember did i have the super and pm assigned 50 percent to the project?
