Taylor was born in Reading PA; the farm is in rural Birne County. Her dad bought the farm from one of his clients (her father worked for Merrill Lynch). They raised some animals; Taylor was training as an equestrienne (horse show rider) until she was 12; did children's theater, sang in kareoke contests (National Anthem for the 76'er at 12; sang at a US Open match, etc. They moved first to Wyomissing (West Reading suburb) for her to attend Middle School; then moved to Hendersonville (a suburb of Nashville) when she was 13.
She had a songwriting contract w Sony/ATF at 14 (as well as an artist in development contract at RCA which she walked out on); sighed up with Big Machine as their first artist at 15; released her first album at 16 (in 2006, several weeks before she was 17). And then home-schooled the rest of HS, because of touring. She didn't go to college.

A lot of People say this song is very genetic but I think a Christmas song should be generic. And shes singing about a lot of things that people can relate to but she's also putting a lot of personal stuff that we don't see in other Christmas songs.

I don't understand how can people say this song is generic. She grew up in a Christmas tree farm. Growing up in a xmas t.f. is not a generic experience. On the contrary, it's pretty rare. How many people can say they grew up living in a Christmas farm. I think it would be generic if she sung about going to buy a tree to a xmas tree farm which a high percentage of the population does.

She did an ‘old timey version’ of this song that sounds fantastic… recorded with full orchestra. Check it out.

Love your reaction, this song should definitely be a Christmas staple! it’s been said many times from people who have meet Taylor including other famous people/artists and her fans that she is very humble, genuine and down to earth. Considering how famous she is that says a lot about her as a person. One of the many things I love about her ❤. Merry Christmas to both of you and your families 😊🎄

I've been a Taylor fan since 2007, I was lucky enough to met her, she was super sweet, caring and smart. And I found the joke funny because it didn't came from a mean place, it was innocent and in jest.
I'm quite new to their YT channel but it's easy to see they aren't sexist (an overused accusation these days) or anything like that, they just like having fun.
PS: Merry Christmas to you and your family.

She did a Christmas EP in 2007 because the label insisted. It was after her debut album but before her second album. She spent almost 6 months doing radio promotions, then more months opening for major acts in 2007, and then had to dump out a Christmas record to take advantage of her unexpected success. I think she rushed it; her voice sounds even younger ((or more tired) than her debut. Bad mixing job? She wrote a couple of original songs for it but I don't think she has _ever_ performed them live. fwiw She left RCA specifically because she didn't want to be _told_ to record covers of other people's music. And Big Machine got another EP in the summer of 2008 called Beautiful Eyes. She almost NEVER performs the songs from the EPs live.

I like her cover of Last Christmas, the rest of the EP isn't that great but I still listen to it every once in a while.

Also her song Marjorie is about her Granmother who was an opera singer & that video has lots of little clips and articles etc. Both are awesome & i think you might appreciate them?
