Albert Gooding thank yep was a little issue easily drilled off though. Have a bit more experience. Pipes still in great condition ride it every day. Thank for your comment
MC_JP DE Jens haha what are the chances. Great bikes. Mines in pieces at the mo working on engine internals. I will link you to a video of it. Also a USA import
Ghosts from Christmas passed I used to have the 535 it was a brilliant bike me and my wife went all over on it The bike looks good with them pipes on it a good video
Yeah put up a fight had to drill it. Trouble is my bike was in a bad way when I got it and I owed it for ten years before I did this work. Sadly I have sold it now. Have another bike though. See my more recent videos
Timsalsanights aka The Caffeine Racer ah yeah so you got to drill it out and re thread it or if ya lucky it will just spin out. It’s all sent to try ya but that’s biking for you 👍
These would only fit the 125 and 250 models the 700 has a very different engine shape sorry. Website link is in the discription they might have 700 comparably Exhausts there.
nice job did you need to rejet with that air filter ?? i have the same pipes great sound but airfilter i have makes the engine stutter and lose power told i need to rejet.
Nice I got some exhaust packing and rewrapped the baffles it was a better sound when they are in and better for day to day riding, but baffles out sounds amazing. Post a video of your and a link here for me to see
Hi Tim, awesome video, I just recently bought a 2005 virago 250 and didn't know that the rear pipe was fake, so I decided to do the same set up as yours, could you do a short video on how to adjust the carb properly after install of the new pipes, that would be very helpful
I have to say I haven't adjusted the car and never had any problems with mixture or the way it runs. I used a colour tune and it was burning a little rich but that's fine.
Have u removed the silver pod that was on the right side of the bike I believe there are a couple of Alan bolts to take out. Then a jubilee clip around the mouth of the air in take. The new one will fit over the intake and then just tight the jubilee clip it comes with and you are done. Check the Y piece yolk pipe that is the black pipe between the cyclinders if it has a crack it will leak air and that caused mine to not throttle correctly.
So i installed the new filter and now it's like it dont get enough air så when i full thorttle it dies What should i do with the black ruber pipes that conected to the Original filter? Becouse now i have only the new filter on
I just removed the black pipes does it run at full if choke is on. If it does it means u need to adjust ur mixture so it's a little richer as ur getting more air with that filter.
TimSalsaNights thanks for the reply, just looking at small cruisers for the a2 license as opposed to a bigger restricted bike, need something that'll go across national speed limit roads on single carriage country roads without the Audi tailgating behind lol, all in all a good bike? Looks the part!
I have made a lot of alterations to the look since then will have to take a video with change in the next week, this bike does me well but if u want long distance or speed not for you. keeps up with traffic fine. I'm a firefighter I use it to get in to the station when I have a shout, its always got me there in good time even through traffic.
Will this exhaust fit on the 125?? I assume it will, since it's basically the same bike, and engine mounts and stuff, but I don't know. Do you have any idea??
Yes I think I did pay some not makes those yes have done salsa once or twice there. Check out my site www.salsa-nights.co.uk have a large ball on in Jan
This is insane. Did you teach at the Centenary club by any chance ? I think you were my instructor along with a couple of others. This was maybe 4-5 years ago. I am trying to find information online and it comes to newarly 100 GBP on taxes, etc. The shipping from webike is arounf 98 GBP. Can you disclose how much you paid for them in total please ? Thanks anyway for replying !
I think at the time the import was about £60-70 but the pipes are still cheaper than the standard replacements from yamaha and they are far better mine look as good as the day I put them on. Sad I only ever guest taught there. I am Bridgwater based and worked Bristol Bath Devon mainly. Why not join us in Taunton for the Masquerade Salsa Ball. Find my site email me and trade numbers might be able to help with bike stuff to
That would bring the cost to nearly 200+70 (p&p) + 70 (tax), 340 GBP. They certainly do look the part, but I have the felling that for that price you could have probably have them custom made ! As much as I would like a pair since mine has been damaged ever since I got the XV, I simply just cannot justify the price. I took up salsa when I moved here for about a year, then the courses stopped I think and I had other commitments taking up too much of my time. In any case thank you for all the information !
hi friend y have a cuestion, why you bike sound like that? and hear other bikes and they sounds like a harlye, y have one and sound like yours with loud pipes, and i want to know why..
No I didn't need to reject it was just fine with out the bike runs nicely and runs better at motorway speeds than it did before. Breathing better I gues. you will never get miracles from just changing an exhaust but at least there is no restrictions in this system. :)
Just ordered these and they took under a week to uk . Lucky for me I didn't pay customs chargers as some people do. Pay for 4 day postage they come via parcel force.
Mike Pagliuca i would think in this day it doesn't matter where u are in the world i would consult the website for there conditions and costs of course. Thet still worked out far better value for me including shipping and import and a year on they are still in great condition.
I don't think I did I think I just paid their postal charges I will try and check the receipt but I don't think I did off the top of my head. Still was far cheaper and better than the rusting yamaha originals in cost and quality. The engine prefers them.
Should have used some red loctite on those studs, not going to come off easily, more likely to undo the stud if you try however when you put it back (assuming you ever remove the exhaust) just use some red to put it back in. when you ride a thumper, everything gets loctite.
The old exhaust system is so shit i bought 125cc xv And i was like why is this so slow and silent... I checked the pipe and i was WHAT THA FUCK IS THIS SHIT.
At this point I would say take it to a garage have them set the carb up for you. Not worth running lean and doing damage. To complex to do over comments or do a search for a video there are a few on mixture adjustment
Finally someone who puts the link for the pipes have looked all over and could not find any thanks to u I found some that would fit
Lyric Edwards haha it's my pet hate people that don't list items enjoy dude
7:43 made me laugh out loud, 3 years on and this video is still very helpful, cheers
Albert Gooding thank yep was a little issue easily drilled off though. Have a bit more experience. Pipes still in great condition ride it every day. Thank for your comment
Did the video help at all. I would agree they are great pipes and sound even better
I normally don't easily give a like but you deserve it. A very good video about how to remove the stock pipes!
MC_JP DE Jens thanks I appreciate that I am working on another for a Honda at the mo
Cool what Honda ?
MC_JP DE Jens 1973 cb350four
Cool i'm working on a 1983 CB650 SC Nighthawk USA Import
MC_JP DE Jens haha what are the chances. Great bikes. Mines in pieces at the mo working on engine internals. I will link you to a video of it. Also a USA import
Ghosts from Christmas passed I used to have the 535 it was a brilliant bike me and my wife went all over on it
The bike looks good with them pipes on it a good video
awesome upgrade, was the exhaust sound with or without the baffles installed.
Well Done! You articulated this video very well!
Did you delete the left side chrome pod? That is the side with the smog pump
What size is the air filter (air cleaner) ? The red one
Did that rear manifold come off ok
Yeah put up a fight had to drill it. Trouble is my bike was in a bad way when I got it and I owed it for ten years before I did this work. Sadly I have sold it now. Have another bike though. See my more recent videos
Timsalsanights aka The Caffeine Racer did you have to take the cylinder head off then if it was the back cylinder
@@garyconstant4234 nah was the front that was stuck on
Timsalsanights aka The Caffeine Racer ah yeah so you got to drill it out and re thread it or if ya lucky it will just spin out. It’s all sent to try ya but that’s biking for you 👍
@@garyconstant4234 a little cross drilling and it came loose thank fully
Very nice video! what is the name brand of those pipes do you think they would work on a 700 CC 1984 Virago
Robert De Cort I just richened the mixture a tad never have problems :)
thanks alot :)
Hi..just wondering where you put that wire that was on the rear fake exhaust?
Rick Holder the main earth can be bolted back to the bike in the same place that it was even when fake pipe is removed :)
TimSalsaNights thx
thanks tim for the video ... did you rejet the carb ? and how's the overall performance of the bike after the setting of the new pipes ?
Laghzaoui Nabil really sorry I haven't replied sooner to this I missed your comment I didn't reject just turned our the mixture screw half a turn
Nice I got some exhaust packing and rewrapped the baffles it was a better sound when they are in and better for day to day riding, but baffles out sounds amazing. Post a video of your and a link here for me to see
Link is in the description below the video dude click that and your at the section of the site. They are from Japan highly recommended

Can you guide me how to install the air filter? My bile wont give full throttle hope you response :) i have the same as you ( the chrome one )
Have u removed the silver pod that was on the right side of the bike I believe there are a couple of Alan bolts to take out. Then a jubilee clip around the mouth of the air in take. The new one will fit over the intake and then just tight the jubilee clip it comes with and you are done.

Imhavent tried that! i will when i come home from work :) thank you so much
And how do i adjust rhe mixture?
Sorry im a noob he he he ;)
Do you need another gasket for these pipes? Or do they slip on without them
skuxxskits I would always use a new gasket they are super cheap to buy like £3
were you charged import charges?
Looks good, how fast does something like that go
fieldmarshaljoe not fast 75-80mph top speed it's a cruiser and with no rear suspension the ride at 70 isn't very comfortable
TimSalsaNights thanks for the reply, just looking at small cruisers for the a2 license as opposed to a bigger restricted bike, need something that'll go across national speed limit roads on single carriage country roads without the Audi tailgating behind lol, all in all a good bike? Looks the part!

TimSalsaNights hahah I'm literally mid application for on call firefighter, and yeah I'd look forward to seeing a video of it
fieldmarshaljoe where are you based ?
Hi sir☺️ may i ask if you swapped out the gaskets on the exhaust manifoild? Or did you just use the original ones?
-Bike Garage- I bought new ones they were super cheap they were metal crush washers so best to replace
TimSalsaNights thank you😉 i just ordered garage t&f drag pipes from webike😉👍🏻
Will this exhaust fit on the 125?? I assume it will, since it's basically the same bike, and engine mounts and stuff, but I don't know. Do you have any idea??
Yeah should fit fine
thanks mate! Think I might pick up one of those exhausts! And istall it during the winter so my baby sound great when the snow is gone!
Arvid i have them on my virago 125 but i had to adjust my carb
Lucky69 oh. what did you have to adjust?
the carburator i dont know how i had my friend do it or me
Where did you bought thos exhaust pipes? Thx
jhon napels nx
How to make the sound larger
Just remove the baffle screw and slide out the baffle :)
I will find u the eBay link to it and size. Though now I have a a chrome one which is amazing. I will post links. Are you in the UK.
Hi Tim, can you please verify if you paid any import duty on these ? By the way, did you do any salsa in Weyouth ? You look familiar.
Yes I think I did pay some not makes those yes have done salsa once or twice there. Check out my site www.salsa-nights.co.uk have a large ball on in Jan

diego ucan puc, I am sorry I don't understand your question try again
How did you delete the emissions?
Kelby Odom i didn't it still passes
No I didn't need to reject it was just fine with out the bike runs nicely and runs better at motorway speeds than it did before. Breathing better I gues. you will never get miracles from just changing an exhaust but at least there is no restrictions in this system. :)
how lmay time was the delivery?
how many
i am sorry i dont remember a couple weeks sorry it was 3 years ago now
Just ordered these and they took under a week to uk .
Lucky for me I didn't pay customs chargers as some people do. Pay for 4 day postage they come via parcel force.
Nice dude 😊 they are still on mine just took off and stripped and cleaned the carb total pain to do. Ride safe
TimSalsaNights do you know the size of exhaust studs?? Think a front 1 needs replacing as flanges larger on these new exhausts
will this fit on a 2008 vstar 250
Mike Pagliuca well i believe they have the same fittings but the website i got them from had a compatibility chart as i remember
okay sounds great thank you, do you think ill have shipping issues over here in the US
Mike Pagliuca i would think in this day it doesn't matter where u are in the world i would consult the website for there conditions and costs of course. Thet still worked out far better value for me including shipping and import and a year on they are still in great condition.
Where do i get the gaskets?
randomname123 eBay or yamaha most good motorcycle shops can order them :)
I fixed on the exhuast on my 125 today i had gaskets that fit. And OMG that sound ; 0
Good video...thanks for your time:)
My god that tank is beautiful. What year is your bike?

Watched this x2 bike still doesn't t sound good but what a great illustration of factory foolishness and how you simplified the mufflers
I don't think I did I think I just paid their postal charges I will try and check the receipt but I don't think I did off the top of my head. Still was far cheaper and better than the rusting yamaha originals in cost and quality. The engine prefers them.
The sensor for carb heater is now just onthe frame no pod :)
Size u need to look for is 48mm mouth
Should have used some red loctite on those studs, not going to come off easily, more likely to undo the stud if you try however when you put it back (assuming you ever remove the exhaust) just use some red to put it back in.
when you ride a thumper, everything gets loctite.
74KU It's smooth not a thumper
Just found out about the fake exhaust on my virago and it must be changed lol
Haha yep go get that off best thing I ever did
here is a video of what this bike looks like a year on let me know what you think. ruclips.net/video/IpnAL8XPSJs/видео.html
The old exhaust system is so shit i bought 125cc xv
And i was like why is this so slow and silent...
I checked the pipe and i was WHAT THA FUCK IS THIS SHIT.
